So was ready to replace my I phone not bothered about the very latest versions so looked at the I phone 7 went in carphone and they said best deal at present was 39 a month on 02 with 4 gig data and 50 cash back and 39 upfront. Lucky decided to check deals on line surprised to find I could get same package with Vodafone for 23 a month with 115 upfront from mobile.co.uk which DC own! CPW refused to match this deal. 23 vs 39 even with the bigger upfront charge is a pretty big difference. Total price CPW 925 INC cash back Total price Mobile.co.uk 667 I doubt CPW can remain that uncompetitive for long.
but then the whole market is a sea of red....5% off everything
Just a thought! at what price would sp have to be to return less than Bank Interest rate?
New CEO, New outlook, New Opportunities. Interim Divi in the bank today paying better than bank interest. Things are looking up.
Casshy results came out today, whoever decided to release them a day early with Seb's news needs a pay rise !
Looks like the city isnt missing you....the king is dead, long live the king! Lets hope for good results tomorrow and a strategy of rationalization....we should then see another 5-10% up on the SP.
A long way to go to get back to all time high 9th.November 2015 464.60P.Fell off a cliff 24th.August 2017 to 176.20p losing me 2,144.48 overnight on a profits warning. Why is it that shares do not go back up as quickly when the news is good?Lets hope the new CRO can sort this company out,as obviously Seb James was incapable of this.
"I really can't see how the uncertainty currently surrounding DC can support the SP next week -Seb leaving literally hours before the results are due-irrespective of the new CEO being announced- cannot be a good sign." He's not "leaving literally hours before the results are due". This was a planned succession, pretty obvious by the fact the announcement that Alex Baldock coming aboard was able to be rushed out. Seb is still around until April - hardly bailing out hours before the results. Everyone knew Seb was fishing around for other jobs anyhow (ITV last year...) This was a leaked story.
That seems very positive, and one would think can only help improve the SP
nearer to 150p than 250p. i win.. ;-)
After trading results a company share going up.Is this the new pattern for 2018?
Downbutnotout, we need to pay for your maths classes...obviously you meant 250p...remember 1 is not equal to 2 :D
150p and i'm in.
Superb trading RNS, grew market share in every single category. We sold 1 in 3 sim free phone in UK. PBT guidance kept at £365m-£385m.
I really can't see how the uncertainty currently surrounding DC can support the SP next week -Seb leaving literally hours before the results are due-irrespective of the new CEO being announced- cannot be a good sign. Hopefully the results expected have been factored in to the SP and will be in line with expectations-but I dread to think what will happen if a Carpet right scenario should play out. The new CEO faces some challenges-reworking CPW for one -too many stores, and the possibility of the big players pulling out (Like P4U) makes me nervous. Jon Browitt and Seb between them did one thing wrong in my view-they didn't close enough stores and DC are exposed to rent and payroll costs that can quickly get out of hand if margins are squeezed-which they are because of the Euro-and because of the fall in mobile revenue. It's plainly obvious the business will be more on-line focussed moving forward-expect store closure announcements in the near future. JMHI GLA
https://www.ft.com/content/930db04c-fdf3-11e7-9650-9c0ad2d7c5b5 Lets hope that new blood will bring an spring to the step of DC. and this guy will chop out all the dead wood/excess stores
Thank goodness for that!..... We will maybe see an improvement in the SP now
Seb James leaving to run Boots
I suspect they got wind of Seb going before the close which although they don't like its more because they dislike uncertainty, think Seb lost his superstar status a long time ago, they might actually like the new guy as he is very online focused.
thing Monday could present a good buying opportunity.
