You paint a nice picture! I think I must have drunk too much, the day I bought these. The trouble is,I bought at 8 o clock in the morning, which tells you more about my personal life, than anything else!Im hoping these get a boost before results, but last time they went up,then nose dived.
that we are coming up for Christmas, which means that everything will slow dow. No one will take any risks over the festive season and zilch will happen until about mid January. I like Christmas. I like seeing the kids running amoke and the carol services and eating and drinking myself senseless, but I do miss watching the progress of my various little flutters.
at least its not Friday13th.!.....nervous times.... they have been advertising everywhere so publicity is good....I cant call this one.- AO results bad but perhaps DC have stolen market share...if its good then above 180 we go...(Bad and we sink beneath 145)
Wednesday 13th December! Should be interesting
Good to see us move above 150, a lot depends on the interim results like you say. One thing I always notice with this share is the price goes up before results day and then drops on the day . It wil be interesting to see what happens over the next week or two. I went into a store yesterday and asked how black Friday went? Average I was told, not a disaster which is good the only thing that sounded strange, the manager told me his targets this week where much higher than last week hopefully is not an accounting display by them to say in the results we are only slightly behind target then the quarter after hit us with the real results.
I take it some Institution disposed of some 100 million worth of stock yesterday; if anyone has more info. Id be interested to hear?. If the SP can manage to gently drift uppishly for a day or 2- itl be starting to look very positive on the chart! Interim results are of course critical - but I feel these might surprise the market somewhat to the upside. Company has (of course) been very focused on its promotions recently - delighted theyv galvanised themselves at last into action.
...for! Hopefully 10% by end of play
After a few weeks of challenging sales in the run up to Black Friday, this week John Lewis achieved sales of 214.3m +7.2% Year on Year. Marked by Black Friday and price matching through our Never Knowingly Undersold policy, it was the biggest ever week and Black Friday was the biggest ever day in John Lewis's trading history. Electricals also saw a strong performance with sales +9.7% with standout performances in mobile and wearable technology and small electricals. Best sellers across the Black Friday period included the Sonos Play 1 Smart Speaker, LG Smart TVs and Apple Macbooks. http://www.johnlewispartnership.co.uk/content/cws/financials/weekly-figures/latest.html Lets hope DC had the same.
Latest report says footfall was down on the high street over black Friday weeked. Not sure if that's important as black Friday is now spread out over the week. The worry is so are the discount's so instead of 2 days sales etc we now get 8 days which will impact the bottom line. The deals have been strong at carp hone which is the weak part of the business right now but have they cut costs as too much and not seen the numbers on the back of it. I have been told sales are down on last year hopefully the Web have picked them up. GLA
this is a replication almost of my BT.A post but with the forthcoming dividend qualification at the end of the month we could see investors jumping on board to qualify for the yield...especially if results are good.. Plus the price is extremely low now so points to a somewhat positive movement for the share,.all IMHO and DYOR
Went to my local Curry's/PC World Mega Store yesterday. It was absolutely packed, with buyers. I bought a new Samsung 55" TV, great deal, helpful staff, and plenty of others actually buying.... A lot of business being done so all looked pretty good to me! GLA
Sales were down on Friday, but stores have benefited from the earlier start to the promotions and are largely up, Figures are likely to be better than expected according to my sources.
Any reports on how busy they been today?
Can we break 160 today....!!??IF results are good in December we could rally up to 2...please be good!
...have been increasing their shorts since 23.10.17, last top up on 17 November, when the share price was around 152p. Millennium already started closing their shorts last week. Bit too risky to be short right now...
Me too, I sold up at 156.3..., maybe a mistake but let’s see.......
me too! but i sold half at 157p around 4pm. not often we see SP close at the days high here.. i'm sick of the swings in share price so i'll try and trade it. i'll buy back Friday afternoon on the drop!
...for 162p, hopefully today
strong close at 156p. shorts gonna burn tomorrow..
Traditionally pre Christmas trading has been a time when margins have held up well for DC however with the trend for people to buy on or around this event it costs them heavily in terms of margin, its also a logistics nightmare with so many sales coming in a short period.Another bad habit we have inherited from the states!
Yup, interesting - and unnerving, because I realise that these days I don't understand many rises/falls at all; I've different shares and they seem to bounce up n down with no relation to big trades/news/projections, it seems all whimsical eg Babcock, which on all data, fundamentals and order book (that's actually money in the bag) etcetc should be at least 2 higher - so lots of doings inside the mkt now that I've obviously no clue about, it's more like a casino and I've never wanted just a gamble, takes the satisfaction out of it.
