Did I say 18 months? Sorry, might be a little longer...............
At a January 2017 steering committee meeting hosted by the Ministry of Power ("MoP"), and attended by representatives from the State utilities, CyanConnode and Enzen were congratulated for their successful delivery of the CESC project to date, viewed as a significant success within the MoP funded pilot projects. The Group understands that the MoP remains committed to installing a majority of the planned 35 million smart meters by 2019 and are pushing the local smart metering suppliers to accelerate their readiness for volume deployments.
The Gov. will run an auction, no date, no timelines.. nothing. If/when they ever get around to it, the process of reverse auctions and evaluations of winners will, as we have seen before, take an extraordinary amount of time. IMO this will probably be another 18 months before it gets any traction, if ever.
LTI, looks like it may take off in Bangladesh.
You never know, DYOR.

Looks like we have to wait for a Goverment auction to decide which company's will install the 250 million smart meters .....

.. as part of an overall solution.

If you have witnesses the power line infrastructure in India you will appreciate that PCL is a nonstarter!
Incidentally RF is used in Japan to connect 20m + meters.

Good evening Ted,
Everyone is entitled to there opinion. We have both been around long enough to know that. And opinions do differ.
LTI.
'Hello tonyj,
I have no idea. '
Stating the bleeding obvious.
Hello tonyj,
I have no idea. But many things are possible. I suppose we will have to wait and see for confirmation from the Company, on any future developments.
LTI.
Are we are still talking about EESL and EDF, and the news that EESL have released regards a 2 Million meter install using EDF? Well, if EESL have said it, and they have, and they have named EDF as partners, why would the assumption be that CC must be involved? Look, it is hard to take, but EESL have see the 100,000 or so in Indore, as we know. They have also seen the 20+ Million in France. A 2 Million install is agreed, CC are not involved, so please just move on.
IMO. DYOR, #Howdesperateisthisgetting LOL
LTI, re Hexing, I wonder if CC will get involved with their new plant in Bangladesh.
Hello Vas,
Thank you for the information on the EDF/EESL tender, it is appreciated. And a chocolate bar awarded to you, from me ( when/if we ever meet ) for probably the longest web address that has worked on this bb. Well done.
Genus and Hexing look interesting.
LTI.
Well that is the question Vas, and no doubt Colour will have the answer to that.
With CC they obtain the module from their maker on Genus credit and sell to Genus to put inside at manufacturer, at that point getting paid. We may get an update from JC as to what EESL requirement will be placed on CC, inside all smarts or just the ones where they are going to use RF. However didn't I read that all had to be RF capable, may be dreaming.
I suppose the same rules will apply to all three of the leading manufacturers which CC will be 'Inside'.
Obviously all the background checks have been done and I think its down now to sub-contracts.
All meters must conform to the regulations I presume.
Wait and see, DYOR.
I wouldn't bother Vas, the Blinkers are bigger than the bloody Horse.
Tony. But the type of communicstion etc the meter manufacturers put inside their meters will be dictated by what solution the utility want ...not the meter manufacturers or EESL. Wouldn't gprs or rf need to be put inside during manufacture...
Have EESL put out a tender for meter manufacture with rf comms inside..?
Keep up Vas, LOL.. I had already said that and we are in with all of the big manufacturers, so hopefully good.
Regarding the EDF & EESL 5 milion smat meter tender. It is EESL who will supply the actual meters ....and EDF will be responsible for their operation. EESL will but the meters from Genus , Hexing etc etc via a separate tender.

Well CB don't you see, that's even better news than November's round table. Mr Sinha is bound to be telling Modi on a daily basis about his meeting with the great John Cronin back in 2014. Just a matter of time now. Load up.
Lol, that powerful 'round table ' event back in 2014 had JC being talked at by Mr P K Sinha. He must have done well as ' On August 30, 2019 Sinha was appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Prime Minister's Office. On 11 September 2019, he is appointed as Principal Advisor to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Damodardas Modi.' Quite a rise for a Thumb Twiddler eh.
I see Genus' sales were down by over 8% for the Q/E 31/12/19 compared to Q/E 31/12/18.

If there was a whiff of a chance of Cyan being involved in anything substantial in India, it would have been snapped up by another company by now. After all, Cyan is only valued at £4m and even that value continues to drop.
How secure is the relationship with Genus? Perhaps Genus only offered that statement of support (LoC facility) in an attempt to help the Cyan sort its finances out but the SP didn't rise enough for them to pull a placing off.
The problems are stacking up.
What you fail to comprehend, to your cost, is that some of us have been around here longer than you and have been there before and remember it.
From 2014

It's all just talk pal. Stop getting in a tiz about the top table meeting, it is guaranteed to come to nothing.
Hello Seawolf, as ever time takes its toll, in October we were all awaiting these outstanding contracts, the Southern India that we got was one of them I surmise. Then we hear of the Round Table, new on the scene inviting CC and a surprise, especially to Colour who then poo poo it. It would have been different if one his mates (EDF) had been mentioned.
You have been around a long time so stick with it. Mysore was the start but INDORE to my mind is the icing on the cake.
These all start off as small projects but when a Utility produces evidence of large savings and praises system then everybody wants to take advantage, after all its the transmission losses that this is all about. Suddenly up comes a result not a may be in the future and that is what pricked EESL ears up.
Colour now seems bold enough to drop the DYOR but for me it is still DYOR.
Anil led a discussion group lol. You put a lot of faith in the enthusiastic Anil tonyj, he talks a good game, that's about it.
Hi tony.s
I haven't got a clue whether or not EDF were present or not. I do know that they are not a desperate business running on fumes begging for something to be thrown their way.
To be honest, I'm amazed Cyan is still going. Cash must be very very tight (IMO).
