JC moved his lips again McGoof.
Well, i just caught up with this abomination - what is this company actually doing to manage to tank this SP like this ?
Hi Colour, ITT.
JC is a legend in his own mind (and the minds of some of the deluded on here) He has made numerous gaffes over the years to the detriment of the SP, I'm sure anything he has ever come out with has positively affected the SP to the extent it negatively affects it.
Lack of promised updates, smoke and mirrors when it suits and frankly lack of respect for shareholders, all while he's pulling on the cash cow milking teat. When I see people commenting on the amount of his own cash he's put in .....b00l0cks, I would guarantee he's had it back and more over the years with salary and bonuses. Time for someone to take over with the capabil and business acumen to push the company on. I've said it before and will say it again, this comes across as a Lifestyle company for various people.
Couldn't agree more.
JC is clearly suggesting that those offering lower upfront costs are winning the business. If that is true, he should supply some examples of who the winners are and also explain to Cyan shareholders what they (BoD) are intending to do about it to get this show back on the road.
JC is totally responsible for today's drop in the SP.
So, you don't think JC's analogy 'With Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Providers (AMISPs) vying for contracts, a concerning trend towards prioritizing lower upfront costs over quality and long-term reliability has surfaced', needs any further comment from the company? Anyone who is happy with a CEO saying this, without clarity of why, is sadly deluded.
....... from the first paragraph:-
" In India's ambitious journey towards revolutionizing its energy sector, particularly under initiatives like the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme ( RDSS ) the selection of technology for smart metering infrastructure emergies as a pivitol decision."
From the second paragraph:-
" As India stands at this crucial juncture, understanding the technological foundations and their implications for the nations energy future is vital. Among the myriad of options, RF technology emerges not just as a solution, but as a strategic advantage in addressing the unique challenges posed by India's vast and varid landscape."
The overall report needs no more clarification from the Company, at least for me, anyway. It was written in language that I can understand and goes into very clear detail, on what is required.
Good Luck all.
LTI.
The company needs to clarify just what was said over the weekend. It's this kind of constant bungling around that holds back the business as no market could ever trust the way they go about almost everything they touch.
Thanks for the other links Vas. It is appreciated.
LTI.
Exactly Vas. Good Luck with your investment(s).
LTI.
Morning LT and Thanks.
It seems to me we may be held in a trading range until we get trading range breaking news. So if you cant beat them - join them seems to be the order of the day. GL Vas
If you search for "India's Smart Metering Landscape" docs.....only two come up.
The first one is the recent one from JC, but interestingly this same article wording is shared on all Linkedin platforms ,BUT the Indian Linkedin is the only one that starts with a different introduction .. below....from 3 days ago.
"Revisiting the critical conversation on hashtag#India's smart metering landscape through our Chairman John Cronin's lens. The article underscores the vital decision-making behind technology selection and shines a light on the imperative of prioritizing quality and long-term viability for short-term gain, ....."
https://www.linkedin.com/company/cyanconnode-india/posts/?feedView=all
The other all start with "In India's ambitious journey towards revolutionizing its energy sector, particularly .."
It looks like horse for courses and have not checked the exact wording in each is the same ..
The other search that comes up is a discussion document by Mayer / Brown last sept 23 entitled
"THE SMART METERING LANDSCAPE IN INDIA"
https://www.mayerbrown.com/en/insights/publications/2023/08/the-smart-metering-landscape-in-india
Good morning Vas and all,
Some very interesting observations in your post yesterday, Vas. And as I also pointed out yesterday, I found the report overall, very encouraging and enlightening.
On another note, I hope you are able to buy the shares that you want. It would seem there is another Buying opportunity presenting itself, as we head towards the end of the tax year.
Good Luck Vas and all.
LTI.
Trying to buy 40,000 shares and being quoted 12.8 by IG. I get 10.25 for 4,000..whats that about?
JC has shared his knowledge with already, on the concerning trend he is seeing. I think it's high time this company considers its leadership options.
....... Conclusion, from the report:-
" As India advances its #smartmetering infrastructure, the need for a strategic approach that prioritizes quality, reliability and long-term value, over immediate cost savings, becomes paramount. #RF technology, particularly solutions like CyanConnode's Omnimesh, offers a path forward yhat balances upfront costs with the demands of long-term operational reliability and sustainability. As we navigate the path towards a brighter energy future for India, the wisdom of our choices today, lower upfront costs, or high quality and long-term viability, will illuminate our journey for years to come."
A very encouraging and enlightening report. Well done to the author.
Good Luck all.
LTI.
Sorry, should read;- " At the moment circa 109m smart meters have been Awarded, with circa 9.4m installed ....... " Missed out the decimal point.
Hi LTI
You say:-
"At the moment circa 109m smart meters have been Awarded, with circa 94m installed, of which we understand CyanConnode has circa 25% of the meters installed, with CyanConnode Omnimesh inside."
Is this correct?
On 12/02/2024, Zeus said:-
"It (Cyan) has the largest installed base of meters (1.2m, 25% share) in the market with an order book of more than 3.6m modules across ten Indian States."
Do Cyan have 1.2m installed in India as per Zeus or 23.5m installed (94m x 25%) as per you? There is quite a discrepancy.
....... CyanConnode's Omnimesh solutions and benefits highlighted:-
" CyanConnode's commitment to quality and its proven track record in delivering high-performance RF solutions, provide a compelling case for proritizing long-term value over short-term cost savings. By opting for a solution like Omnimesh, stakeholders can avoid the pit-falls associated with cheaper, less reliable technologies - such as increased maintenance costs, higher failure rates and the potential need for premature replacement. Further more CyanConnode's deep experience in the Indian market ensures that Omnimesh is tailored to meet the unique demands of the countr's diverse landscape and climate conditions, offering unparalleled reliability and efficiency.
" This adaptability, coupled with the company's focus on customer support and services, make Omnimesh an ideal choice for India's ambitious smart metering goals."
CyanConnode, we are told, have Omnimesh inside circa 25% of the installed electric smart meter base in India, today. So decisions are already being taken to use an alternative solution, which adds up to 75%. There may be many reasons for this - competition/alternative solution and budget are alternatives to consider.
During 2017/2018 multi-million smart meter tenders were distributed, totalling circa 20m electric smart meters, mainly for GPRS. Although many of these contracts were not completed, some were possibly never started.
At the moment circa 109m smart meters have been Awarded, with circa 94m installed, of which we understand CyanConnode has circa 25% of the meters installed, with CyanConnode Omnimesh inside.
So, the point that the report makes very well, at least for me, is that you get what you pay for. And quality, longevity of product and service, come with a premium.
As the original 20m smart meter tenders, will testify.
Good Luck all.
LTI.
Morning All,
It seems tome that at present Cyan's offering is meeting two very significant standards that maybe, most other are not at this time - namely
Just a week ago the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) adopted Wi-SUN Alliance FAN (Field Area Networks) specification as included in IEEE 2857-2021, as the national standard for India’s Smart Meter RF Communication Networks...."Proprietary solutions don’t fit the BIS requirements, making Wi-SUN the logical choice for long-term operations and maintenance".
Also, Cyan's collaboration with Silicon Laboratories integrating into their SiLabs' FG25 Sub-GHz Wireless chip where the company stated
"The open-source backbone of Wi-SUN will enable CyanConnode to quickly scale deployments and leverage the Wi-SUN ecosystem to provide new value to its customers. CyanConnode's adoption of SiLabs' flagship SoC and Wi-SUN will ensure that it is the first to meet the technical requirement set by the Government of India as defined by BIS LITD28 standards for Smart Meter RF Communication systems. "note: first to meet the technical requirements defined by BIS.
They also stated that "CyanConnode's adoption of SiLabs' flagship SoC and Wi-SUN will ensure that it continues to meet the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) required by the Government of India."
It looks to me like the standards are being tightened, and yes the inevitable cost / performance will come into play, but IMO i think JC was trying to differentiate Cyan present day experience / offering with its competitors, and even on a level playing ground , Cyan has the advantage of many years real life experience in installing and monitoring millions of meters within the SLA, which is money saved over long term .
I also find it hard to believe that with news presently scarce , yet expected anytime , JC thought it a good idea to put out a piece which was intended to be negative, as we are a listed company and the only people who actually read these reports are industry workers, people who cant sleep, competitors, and his share holders.
"CyanConnode and the FG25 Sub-GHz SoC are Ready to Take on India’s Smart Metering Challenge"
https://www.silabs.com/applications/case-studies/leveraging-fg25-and-wi-sun-for-smart-metering-in-india
When JC decides to let the news break officially, probably after the next Fund Raise, we should know the way India is moving. Sounds like 99% SLA's are a bit too costly for the majority of this nation. It explains the stalling contract flows anyway.
...... AMISP's also mentioned in more detail:-
" In an era where AMISP's might be tempted by lower upfront costs, the choice of CyanConnode's Omnimesh solution underscores the importance of considering the broader implications of technology deployment. The real value lies not just in meeting the immediate specifications, but in ensuring that the technology can deliver consistent performance and reliability over the life-span of the project.
" The tendency to overlook these critical factors for short-term gains, could lead to significant long-term losses, undermining the goals of the smart metering programme and the broader vision for India's energy sector. This perspective is critical for the smart metering programme, which aims not only to modernize India's energy infrastructure, but to do so in a way that is sustainable, efficient and capable of supporting the county's growth over the coming decades."
An excellent view-point, I feel.
Good Luck all.
LTI.
...... the report goes on to say:-
" However, not all RF solutions are created equal. The success of such projects hinges not just on the technology itself, but on the quality and reliability of the implementation. Here, the experience and proven track record of technology providers like CyanConnode become invaluable. Their Omnimesh RF solution, designed with a deep understanding of the operational and environmental challenges specific to India, exemplifies the type of quality and expertise neccessary to meet RDSS objectives and beyond."
The phrase " Their Omnimesh RF solution .......... " seems like someone else could have actually provided/written this particular section of the report and not specific to John Cronin. Maybe other sections as well.
But still a good and informative report.
Good Luck all.
LTI.
We know exactly what JC would go on to say LTI, that doesn't even need reading. Fact is JC is seeing a growing ' short-term gain philosophy' and is concerned by it. What part of that don't you understand?
India is moving towards a low cost, less bells and whistles option, and JC is offering his view why he thinks it's a bad idea. The conclusion there is simple fact it's happening, and an opinion against it.
I am pleased, at last, JC can actually grasp a real time reality of that target market he is aligned with.
...... GPRS and RF mentioned and compared:-
" Against the back-drop of India's vast and varied geography, the quest for a communication technology that ensures reliability and efficientcy across both densely populated cities and remote rural areas is paramount.RF technology, with its proven ability to provide cosistent connectivity stands out as an optimal choice. Its resilience and flexibility make it particularly suited to India's environmental and infrastructural diversity, establishing it as the preferred foundation for smart metering initiatives.
" Unlike GPRS, which can suffer from network congestion, coverage issuesand frequent changes and overhaul of technology, RF technology offers consistent connectivity, essential for the real-time data transmission required in smart metering applications. The superiority of RF lies not just in overcoming georaphical hurdles, but also in its adaptability to India's dynamic environmental conditions, making it an ideal candidate for the foundational technology behind smart metering solutions."
