People with jobs are working in there branches. If anyone is going to know is their member's of staff.
I will be driving there this evening to ask some questions.
If the market doesn't know why would some hourly paid worker know?!? Seems a little insensitive imo
Cineworld plunged 58% after the Wall Street Journal reported that the movie theatre operator is preparing to declare bankruptcy, as it struggles to recover from pandemic lows.
According to people familiar with the matter, the London-based cinema chain has engaged with lawyers from Kirkland & Ellis LLP and consultants from AlixPartners to advise Cineworld on its bankruptcy process.
Cineworld is expected to fill a chapter 11 petition in the US, and is also considering filing for an insolvency proceeding in the UK.
Ragz are you effing joking? We've all lost a few quid but (I hope) as investors in the market we a. Knew the risks and b. Can take the unpalatable loss on the chin. Haranguing low paid workers who will be terrified of redundancy because you've lost a few quid is at best crass. Don't do this.
100% agree with AndyHill.
People that work there are being hit from all angles in this cost of living crisis, now they got to deal with something else which is of no fault of theirs.
We made the choice to invest here because we thought it would make us money. We were wrong.
Even the workers that run the social media are getting hassled by people who are worried about their booked top gun tickets. Give your heads a wobble.
People are a-holes.
Thanks Dinosaur. None of us are happy here but some perspective is needed... I've lost a significant amount of money... as have most of you on here... I've NOT lost my job, my income, my future or my home. IF cine go under the victims are the employees who turn up and work hard! I'll survive this. So will the rest of you. One or two of them night not be so lucky. The thought of going and pestering them... wow.
Bankruptcy doesn't mean cinemas close
Some might if they are not profitable.
What it means is all contracts become null & void and up for re-negotiation.
Employees are 1st in line
Bond holders are 2nd with other debtors
shareholders get whats left, square root of zero
That's the internet for you. It gives everyone a voice, sadly, not everyone needs to be heard.
It's all about perspective. I've lost money but I can still pay my bills.
The people at the coal-face in the cinemas will have no idea what is going on. They may not even be aware of it yet. They'll be the last to know what's going on. They'll just have to keep turning up to work, not knowing, until one day, some of them aren't asked to come back.
Asking them what's going on is pointless and more than that, insensitive.
It is somewhat amusing to know that people dont go to the cinema any more, instead preferring to sit at home watching streaming , and then there to be this sudden sudden massive concern for cinema employees as a result of falling cinema audiences and fears for their jobs
hey?
It looks to me that the Mooky fella has brought all this on himself and the company.
For a start the handling of the Cineplex deal was an absolute disaster as the court case brought up.
I reckon that is what has broke the camels back and also the money is just not coming in fast enough and they have mountains and mountains of debt.
TBH even if they did survive it will take years for the share price to recover and years for them to clear their debt; the banks dont wait forever. :)))))), Lvu333
