Heard it all before, in 70s, 60s, 50s and now 40s.
Don't be so sure, might be late fifties next week, might be 30s, definitely not cheap if further restrictions come in from this reactive goverment.
Great time to buy,,,, cheap as chips,
As bad as the hypocrisy of the party is. I can't help think that's conveniently being used as a smoke screen for the bigger problem. The trade-in freedoms for "security".
Don't get too emotionally caught up in anything.
It’s all a smoke screen to deflect the chit away from the conservative parties big party. NO ONE IN THS COUNTRY SHOULD FORGET THIS
Crumpets, That quote says it all. Basically saying do not question the almighty overseeing powerful one. On the positive, I can now see people across the board starting to stand up for civil liberties, which wasn't happening 6 months ago.
"We strongly advise you to take care when...statements that seek to question or undermine the advice of public health bodies on the Coronavirus, or otherwise undermine people’s trust in the advice of mainstream sources of information about the disease;"
Latpulldown, unfortunately there will be no awkward questioning from journalists.
They're not allowed to. In fact, quite the opposite as Ofcom's guidance to journalists states:
"We strongly advise you to take care when...statements that seek to question or undermine the advice of public health bodies on the Coronavirus, or otherwise undermine people’s trust in the advice of mainstream sources of information about the disease;"
It's on page three of this link:

I do find some of your quotes hilarious Wellington.
Kickthepuss your absolutly right it's already here, maybe working from home will slow the rate it transmits, maybe not. Who the heck knows.
Xmas party anyone???
Wellington - agreed and I bleeding hope so….don’t count another politically motivated lockdown out in new year. Hope I’m wrong but these maniacs are drunk on their own lies and power.
Boris - the mendacious albino adulterer - is just using Plan B to 'Dead Cat' the fallout from the clusterf*ck that is the No. 10 operation.
Utterly unwarranted, and Omicron will turn out to be a damp squib - 95% of the adult population have antibodies - completely different to 18 months ago.
Cine will be beaten like a ginger stepchild over the next few days - come the New Year the bounceback will be explosive.
Bonkers- I respect your opinion, it’s for the reasons you’ve expressed that I’ve been fully vaccinated, I can see the value of effectively keeping a bed free for someone who needs it.
I sadly think this coming move is based on politics and not science, by all accounts this variant is running wild and the notion of slowing it now seems a little bit too little too late to my mind. The data I’ve seen from SA points to a milder disease but happy to agree it’s way too early to draw any really reliable conclusions.
These restrictions are knee jerk (as it’s already too late) and conveniently timed to distract public attention away from from the PM’ xmas party.
Just my opinion ATB to your Father.
Rules can be changed while data is being collected , might be a over reaction from the government, might not be.
Talk of 1000 hospital admissions a day if no action taken , on a more transmissible variant.
How much more mild? it is will be confirmed in due course.
So they act on worse case. Good would rather them act on that then ifs and buts, If it turns out worse case isn't a threat anymore restrictions will be relaxed again , I'm sure we are only talking work from home and masks right now so nothing major.
If no restrictions happen and the worst was to happen and my dad for instance couldn't get a bed due to NHS being over whelmed I would be ****ed.
A few weeks of restrictions to get more data I can live with.
Obviously my personal opinion each to thier own.
LPD - I share your hopes but fear that like everything else these clowns are now doing it’s a distraction from his current debacle being the xmas party. Really pleased he announced the press conference after market close. We know em what’s coming, it’s going to suck tomorrow, thanks Boris you ***t
PM News Conference at 6p.m.
Looks like he found time to speak to the cabinet.
Hopefully we get some real common sense awkward journalistic questioning on all decisions supposedly being led by the data. Our stats at this time do not show it and if it is based on anything Sage has advised they have called it woefully wrong for virtually the full of the pandemic.
It should? lead to very little change for @Cineworld, if anything at all.
Hope that’s not directed at me, I’m vaccinated but fully 100% believe in personal choice!!!! You’d do well to remember our rights were bought and paid for with millions of lives and rivers of blood….you may look forward to step 1. Of the new authoritarian regime in this country (social credit scheme = vaccine passports) but detest it and anyone ignorant enough to not recognise it’s danger.
Sad how this forum has been filled with politics and anti-vaxxers.
The most troubling aspect of this pandemic imo has been the politicisation of science & medical treatment. There are many world renowned medical scientists screaming that we are making huge mistakes, that politicians have misled the public and that people have already died as a result of not receiving treatment for covid early enough in their diagnosis. There are many treatments / protocols for covid that exist and have been proven to be effective, yet the only narrative that keeps being regurgitated is that of vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate…even though there is irrefutable proof now that there are serious long lasting “harms” being done by the vaccine itself (probably due to the truncated development path)
In addition to the above and as mentioned by others below we as a society have been victims of a continuous attack on our our will, our right to self determination and our sense of societal unity by means of constant divisive news reporting. I’m deeply troubled by the direction of travel within western national systems of government, the ultimate destination of course is some kind of authoritarian future….this is not a future I ever want to experience…..WE MUST WAKE UP AND THINK FOR OURSELVES
If you have time please don’t take my word for it check out these videos, one from the past and one from right now.

Fun, fair point and I don't disagree with you completely. However there is no vaccine to protect yourself from breathing in someones secondhand smoke, whereas there is a vaccine to protect yourself from covid should the person next to you, vaccinated or not(!), have covid. The main problem is the vaccine isn't perfect at stopping infection.
Denying medical treatment is a completely different issue and I don't believe its apples and oranges in my first post. Personal choice not to take vaccine and potentially get sick with covid is the same as the personal choice to smoke and potentially develop cancer or personal choice to race motorbikes and break a leg and require treatment.
The focus on "anti vaxxers" is a sideshow created by the government. If it wasn't anti vaxxers it would be the kids that are vectors of disease, if it wasn't the kids it would be some other group. The powers that be will direct attention towards any group possible to divert attention from their poor handling of the pandemic and to justify restricting our lives. IMO.
Fun ok, that's a very good point. But let's remember I have antibodies for covid (which is what the vaccine tries to emulate).
If we wanted to be 1. Completely safe and 2. To keep our freedoms, the only sensible solution would be to require antibody testing. Would it not?
SMQ, I know this is your favorite topic but just answer my question - if you get into hospital due to covid and you have not taken vaccine then would you take booster later after recovering from hospital? Or do you still want to risk your life and go back to hospital when you are ill again due to reinfection ? You basically want hospital to treat you and hospital/doctors/govt should not blackmail you and should let you risk your life by not taking vaccine? Nothing but utter foolishness if that is what you want....
If you had covid and you survived without vaccine great but when you cannot survive and need treatment then find you own way to treat yourself, simples. Just don't bother to come to hospital or even go outdoor and spread the virus.
SMQ, Maybe a better example for me to note would be smoking. You can still smoke should you choose, but no longer kill me and others by YOUR choice i.e. banned indoors.
Yeah all recovered thanks ,just me lol been in bed last 36 hours , although managed to get my ass down for a pcr earlier.
Antigens all say neg so prob just a bout of bad man flu. My mood is just like the s.p right now haha
SMQ
Like not passing your driving test or getting a travel passport you still have choice. Every choice has consequences.
Cheers Bonks, yeah am good thanks. How's family now?
Welcome back fun , hope your feeling better matey
Fun that all depends on what you view as the "right thing".
I think you are looking at this too closely.
Many people believe not giving up the freedom of choice is the "right thing" and prevents stricter and worse measures from being forced on us further down the line.
Hussar, that is correct. Plan B is not about shutting down cinemas. It is about mandatory masks and work from home where possible. No social distancing rules either. There is a talk of vaccine passports, which I don't think will happen either.
