Currently on p and o ship, first time with this carnival brand. I have to agree with other posters the hygiene standards are low, on the first day all the hand sanitizer stations were not working. Now it’s hit and miss but I would say only 10 per cent are entering the buffet and washing hands or using sanitizer, people picking food from buffet with hands. I am waiting for a norovirus outbreak, not feeling happy.
Good morning 12Roses, Which ship are you on?
Never been on Britannia. Try a Princess ship for comparison. I’m on Sky Princess next month, now that is a fantastic ship with great service.
Thanks Cottill, we sailed on sky princess 18 months ago and yes it was good, thought we’d try p and o, not sure, ok apart from hygiene worries. Have also sailed with holland America, my preference is still Cunard from the carnival brands.
I guess at the end of the day it’s a choice of destinations and price.
Apologies all must have got out the wrong side of bed. Can’t blame p and o for the hygiene standards of the passengers. Although if a norovirus outbreak occurs I am sure the same passengers won’t see they are to blame.
Off for some retail therapy in Kiel.
Bot bot please try and get the share price to go up, might need some extra cash. Lol gla
It is likely down to the passengers. The vary last thing the crew want is an outbreak of anything as it increases their workload hugely and puts them a5 risk, too.
When sanitising was compulsory, there were still people, mostly blokes, trying to avoid it, especially at the buffet. We try not to eat there. Tendency to eat too much that way.
Have a lovely day everyone.
B
Bhants, You are right, there are some mingers on board these days. The only time I use the buffet is to grab a coffee.
12Roses, We were on board Britannia this time last year, we overnighted in Helsinki, a great cruise, enjoy.
I'm selling at £12, I've held CCL for 15 years and done well out of it but I'm fed up with it and can use the money better on an income stock. K
The new Queen Anne buffet is not self service, but is an "artisan food hall" where food is served at various outlets.
wonder if any of this is to do with hygiene?
Does that mean we won’t see you on here after that K? I assume you’d keep the 100 shares for OBC?
B
How could I leave you Bhants? We wrinklies must stick together!
I will dispose of most of mine but Her Ladyship still has a lump bought at £7 37 average which she wants to keep. K
Ken
You know as well as I do
When this gets to 12 it’s not stopping in the way up
It may come back down to 12 after it’s gone up as 12 will be the new 10 as 10 now was the old 7-8
Just wait it out
Dividend in 2026 as well probably
12Roses
I said 10.63 today.!
That’s a raise .!
Was provoked by Bhants post to Ken about keeping 100 shares. So I took a look at my shareholder OBC.
I bought my first tranche in early 2022. Since then I have had £1110 in free OBC plus I have £600 more in the pipeline from cruises booked.
As long as Carnival continues with the benefits I won't be selling below the 100 minimum. As a regular cruiser it's a no brainer!
IWHF. Yes agree but it's not a given. It has to be voted to continue each year. Should Carnival ever halt it, there would be mutiny but they've become so penny pinching, it wouldn't shock me. K
Ken - I agree that it's not a given at all. It's only currently approved for cruises until the end of 2024.
I suspect that at some point they will maintain the benefit but increase the minimum holding particularly if the share price remains relatively low
Well, Stockperks told me to come back in November to submit claims for 2025 so they obviously think it will be around next year.
Anyone any idea what it costs P & O, or Carnival in general, per annum? I believe there are other allowances in other territories, e.g. veterans or serving members in American forces?
B
Bhants, I believe it's around now each year that it gets discussed/approved for the following year.
Blue light card holders - Police/Fire/NHS get up to £100 OBC if cruises booked direct with P&O and 10 percent off cruise if booked directly with Princess.
They kept the 100 shares obc when the share price was £7 so they would be crazy to scrap it at £10 in my opinion. It is a great way of keeping brand loyalty, why P people off when it's really a small amount in context to the amount of revenue they get having you onboard.
Plus it only gets spent on their own goods. So the fiver you spend on Obc gelato and coffee etc costs them pence but leaves us feeling loyal to the brand.
It gets approved at the AGM for the following year.
I also found Stockperks a pain to deal with but the terms are unchanged - you must apply after final payment made and at least 6 weeks before sailing.
