I saw it and thought it was best to avoid. AMC is up 4.8 per cent though.
YES I hope nobody followed this posters advice I did say at lunchtime what goes up almost always come down yes social media has gone mad now organise an online posse
wasn't it 40% up in pre-trade? It's almost 50% down at moment, some people not eating for a few weeks I'd guess.
Just gamblers, each to their own but make sure you know you're gambling not investing.
@slipperz not necessarily. They get margin called as when you short you have in effect sold someone else's shares. So funds themselves will have a broker and that broker will be in effect aiding leverage. If the loss looks too big same as you and I they can be forced to close the trade. Or actual investors in the fund might not like what they are seeing and also try to pull funds which would force the trade to close (this is what is happening to michal burry in big short where the oldish dude wants his chedder back. Mike's sat on a loss. He wants to wait it out but the old dude wanting to pull the cash out before it turns good)
I don't see what they can achieve...shorters can simply wait for the price to crash, which is inevitable, even if it may take hours, days, weeks or (hard to believe) months. However, if this movement will trigger some new regulations of the shorting market, then YES, I salute this. I hate shorters with passion! I think the market regulators will just stop the trading in these shares until the momentum fades, instead of bringing new regulations.
Yes what about the mugs that get caught on the spike what goes up inevitably comes down.
Oracle,
People are playing a dangerous game and don’t realise. Even if they win, it will be at the expense of another retail investor who they’ve talked into it. They think the funds will be the one paying the price, but funds will recover, some of the poor RI’s never will.
good advice, get in late on a pump and dump scheme.
Those businesses are still dying so the only guarantee is in the long run you'll lose your money.
Why not stick it all in Hertz too.
Does Ress Mogg own a hedge fund?
I wonder if he might be short somewhere. Burn him before I die in a cladded building he won’t fix!
Thanks Claire, great to be a part of this. Been a long time coming and wouldn't dream of missing being in on the action. Burn those shorters people. This is the only action ever taken which has had any effect on their reprehensible destruction of the wealth of private investors. You owe it to yourself, your portfolio and your loved ones to play your part.
It’s just gouging to be one of those days today. Weather not great where I am so not fancying a hike with the dog, golf course shut, shares taking a hit. I’m going to spend the day baking some bread and watching the nutters on reddit try to bring down a hedge fund and the E.U trying to debate contract law with Astra Zeneca!
I’ll check back later to read moose’s I told you this would happen comments, people powers motivational input and to see if kallumama makes an appearance to tell me that online has had its day and I should be putting all my money into Waterstones and mother care!
.
The plan is only to buy GME, AMC, BB, NOK today, nothing else matters
I am genuinely thinking about selling 10k of Boo and going all in on AMC... call me mad.... house is paid for, decent paying job. YOLO.
This is a moment in global stockmarket history you do not want to miss being a part of or at least knowing about. This is your once in a lifetime chance to actually do something about shorters, market manipulators and hedge funds who directly impact upon your financial health by manipulating the price of your holdings against you. Time to take on the enemy, prevent your holdings being artificially suppressed and help to realise the true value of your investments. If that sounds like a good idea to you, join the movement and play your part in history. Your portfolio and loved ones will be proud of you...
