Announced in the May presentation! Finally checking those rag? I thought it was just accountants who do that?
Everything you mock you end up doing! I think it’s as you’re seeing what being an investor is about
Stop following what the accountants do. Stick to what you know. Be the milkman!
Maybe learn something about the business you own?
Slipperz, i mentioned right back at beginning of April about Mitch coming in, this was confirmed (not sure why but not by name) in the most recent May results presentation, on that same post i also mentioned Mo Srikanth, Mo was head of Merchandising when he was a Arcadia, this role is critical but very easy to get wrong, if it was a band he'd be the drummer not the lead singer ! Mo over saw all the numbers and intake for the amount of cover they needed, he is a top guy, a massive amount of work that has been going behind the scenes with Merch and the Buying Depts. From now on in you will see the Debs website start to build it's offer, new ranges are hitting down and it won't stop, it will keep coming. Traffic to site and conversion is obvs key, this will play out in Q3/Q4, whilst UK opening up continues it will def have a positive impact but the cherry on top would be if the Sun came out !!!! as a lot of these Brand New Seasonal Ranges are a touch weather sensitive but keep an eye on the Debs website it's only just dipped it's toe in the water.
Have you guys looked what's on offer on Debenhams site? You sound like you are talking about some indie selling vintage, second hand rags! Seriously....?!
Well, I've not only looked, but ordered twice already! And I'm still looking! The new items coming are simply fabulous! Move on Ted Baker, Reiss and Next...here's Karen Millen, Warehouse and Debenhams brand (not the old fishy names, lol) coming to take your place!
I think Debenhams will be great as flags has said. It will be a new audience which generally have more money and will spend on a wider range of items
Beauty alone is easy to see fly past the £55m paid. Also not forgetting management out nothing in expectations for Debs and marketplace (or as far as I can see) so I think this will add to over performance and low guidance (re revenue. Margin I have more nerves for - but beauty is high margin and often not returnable so this will help to give margin upside)
My issue with Debenhams so far is that it doesn’t link to PLT or Boohoo websites. Initially Debs seemed amazing as there was all the boohoo/ PLT customers we can up-sell too. At present though boo is now hoping those customers shop twice (t shirt from PLT and then go to Debs and get make up). For me I think Debs fly’s when this can be seen less. How that looks and feels I’m not sure (that’s where boo bring in the experts) but this for me would be a key step. Also this halves the expensive cost of delivery (a lipstick can go along with the t shirt)
I do fully agree (and always said this) that plt cannot go on Debs. It can’t be that your gran is talking to you about having a PLT t shirt. I think boohoo on there has been carefully managed so I’d say well done on that
Be interesting to see how Debs would fair internationally. But again marketplace concept can be used here and I think would be a great low cost way of test waters
In the run-up to Christmas I don't think we will be able to comprehend the level of bombardment of targeted advertising on Facebook, towards over 60s - being able to do all their Christmas shopping online in one go! All those terrible jumpers, socks, and bubble bath boxsets that they love to buy their poor unsuspecting family members, conveniently in one easy online order! :) I think Debenhams will prove to be a bargain acquisition for Boohoo.
Watching BBC News @ 6:15am & Debenhams 200 years review as last one closes today. Worth a watch as it will be on all morning.
The question they posed is “.. but will it really be missed?” “As fashions changed, it didn’t” “Boohoo have bought into nostalgia but is it money well spent?”
