really tastey horse meat
Hello deadcat, Maybe they could take out their false teeth and chew on deadcat !
No disrespect equitrader, but if John McGrane, Director General of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce and Dan O’Brien, Chief Economist, Institute of International and European Affairs say so that is good enough for me... However, agreed that if UK sources agri. produce from elsewhere then that sector in Ireland has bad times ahead. But I am sure about one thing and that is that the British consumer will not be impressed with the record of Brazilian meat.... http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-39311336 This story just broke a few weeks ago and had been going on for years... They used acid and other chemicals to mask the aspect of the product. In some cases, the products used were carcinogenic," the police said. "In other cases, potato, water and even cardboard paper was mixed with chicken meat to increase profits" In Ireland we have an excellent record and adhere to the highest standards when it comes to food production...
Ahh you can't use those numbers. Most of Ireland's exports are multinationals and aren't real. The 16% to the UK are indigenous industries mostly. It's the heart and soul of Ireland. If the UK does a deal with NZ or Brazil or Aus or Arg for cheap dairy or meat then Irish agri exports are toast.
not sure why I didn't sell yesterday. have order to sell all at 24, move onto something else non sterling related but will keep an eye on it.
House of Lords report... Current UK-Irish trade relations The scale of the UK-Irish economic and trading relationship is significant. John McGrane, Director General of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce, said that it accounted for €60 billion a year in two-way trade and directly supported 400,000 jobs. Dan O’Brien, Chief Economist, Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA), was clear that the UK was still hugely significant to Ireland’s economy. https://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld201617/ldselect/ldeucom/76/76.pdf On Scotland, I think you are missing the point... They are sick to death of being dictated to by Westminister and the English... Incidentally, Brexit passed to regain independence from the EU and not on economics so I sort of think you have contradicted yourself... When T May was asked what she hope to gain from leaving Europe, the interviewed replied to her by saying that she already had all the things she hope to gain by leaving...
Why cannot people look these stats up themselves. 16% of Ireland's exports go to UK Belgium 14 ( was above UK) US 23 Germany 7. Well spread very satisfactory up 14% year on year seasonally adjusted. IRELAND IS GOING WELL!! Scotland export 80% of their out put to rest of UK and with Trident and cheap oil would be bonkers to split - they cannot afford to! as I keep saying Merkel has £80 billion of cars to sell to UK annually. With the balance of trade in her favour not difficult to see the outcome.
The Brittish have just chucked the baby out with the bathwater! Scotland potentially could split from UK and lots of talk now of border poll... Who knows where we end up... Two years of guaranteed uncertainty with article 50 being triggered and many more as fallout of UK exit impacts UK and Irish economies? Do you know what proportion of our exports go to the UK? Sir, we are royally screwed... These are now the fundamentals! This is the quagmire irish compsnies will have to navigate thru!
Why? the fundamentals are still good and the market firm
Sadly Huge Brexit uncertainty along with continuation of weak sterling will continue to hamper our Fkir for years to come back to 20c and possibly lower for summer.
It's not as if you didn't see it coming.
This is a dismal desperate state of affairs
Only spent time in Belfast this time, where I was able to see for myself that life is rolling along pretty much as usual. They mostly seem to be driving pretty decent cars - but I suspect that they are taking advantage of the low interest rates and the fact that you can now run cars "on tick" - so much a month after a deposit is paid. I was however able to canvas opinion among the academic community and some of our separated brethren one of whom spoke at Martin's funeral. Managed a few gargles and paid for it today on the course - whilst I was bathing my gums I took the chance to ask for a view of the future amongst the company in the bars that I visited. They all seemed anxious to remain in the EU - which is what they voted for - one or two suggesting that if Scotland gains admission following their second referendum - Northern Ireland would wish to go with them, which seems very sensible to me. They all seem to feel that Grand Britannia has seen its best days and will find it difficult to create enough employment of a worthwhile nature - because employment opportunities will only occur where employers can recruit people with sufficient education and work ethic to justify the investment. House prices are rising, certainly around the Ormeau Road, where they have gone up by more than 50% in the last eighteen months. I know the weather was beautiful and everything looks good on a fine day but I am still left with the impression that the province is in a much better place now - if only they can get the assembly running again. There seems to be a much improved community engagement now, whilst it is still not all beer and skittles and the 12th still comes around every year the north is making progress which is more than can be said for the footsie. Good luck all,
If you stop posting such **** people will stop laughing
