Enjoy yourself down there lb. A great break away for you. Best regards.
Just signing in again now, looks like an interesting read back, but I'd better make no further comments on the "thingy". Lol. Steady day for BEM. Good to see. Afty. x
Hi Aug. Yes, but that is Sweden specific, not EU specific. The EU is not to be held responsible for any misgivings or failings in the political soup within Sweden. It is tasked with and must only deal with the MEPs and PM representing Sweden, as one of its member states. I felt Steve was a straight shooter, no reason to believe he would lie. Again, if Tusk presented a deal and it was somehow scuppered over here before it got off the ground, is that an EU issue or a UK Government issue? Perhaps a mutual issue, but of course, under Brexit, there would be no future 'mutual' on the table. See, houses in order first Aug, and we are lagging behind. In my opinion. For what it's worth, I'm not happy about how things have developed after the Referendum, because it further highlights and compounds the utter shambles that is our current Government. I suppose you've noticed, but since the result, the Government has managed the potential exit so poorly, that the country has spiralled into further decline. In all areas. Socially, economically and innovatively. People are worried about their futures and many UK businesses who rely on EU trade are in turmoil. Not to mention those citizens from within the EU who have made a home here. There is a stigma attached to being "allowed" to stay. Don't get me started on EU support for innovation within our Universities. My list is long and I promised myself a calm Friday. Lol. Anyway, we shall see what actually occurs following TM's time extension, so it's back to Wulf talk from me now. Best wishes.
..."it'll be civil unrest on an unprecedented level" ... if Brexit not delivered. Nah, not letting that one slide by.
The UK is too engrossed watching reality TV and shoving Domino's down their gobs to bother getting off their fat backsides to protest. Add to that Dibble would rather prosecute a mild mannered middle management type for having the temerity to go out and demonstrated and then get caught on the wrong side of the cordon. Those riots in 2010? Not many tax offices, police stations or magistrates courts were burnt out, Plenty of shops looted tho' unless it was a book shop.
Civil unrest in my book was walking through picket lines to get to school at the height of the miner's strike in S Wales. Oh, and the poll tax demonstrations. But there was no reality TV or Deliveroo back then.
Civil unrest on an unprecedented scale? do me favour! pal, jog on.
Now what about this Beowulf iron ore malarky?
Despite our differences do take care down there lbjj , madness can spread. My bet is we will find that the nutter responsible has been a regular cannabis or drug user when the truth is out.
You do Cameron a great disservice knocking him for the referendum. He was pushed into it by the results of the 2014 EU election when UKIP ,a small grass roots party got more votes than either of the main 2 parties on a platform to come out of the EU.First time since 1910 that the 2 main parties failed to win ! He was trying to spike them before the steamroller had become unstoppable. The decision to hold a referendum was democracy in action but our civil service held the people in such contempt they failed to have a plan in place.
Nighty night then, Ibjj. Have a nice day tomorrow.
Yep.
Off to bed. Very long, tough day down here in NZ.
If I may quote from the gentleman at 08:51:
There was never a plan in place for a leave result. Proven today. No wonder the weasel literally disappeared as soon as he could. In fact, on results day, Camshaft overtook Usain Bolt on his run for cover, I mean, on his run home.
And Boris was so taken aback by the result he wouldn't come out of his house.
Its popularism and demagogy...always bad.
It was a national referendum, Suzy. Local opinions should be irrelevant.
Get behind the vote and deliver Brexit. It is not difficult to understand.
It's an interesting question...MPs sit in Parliament to represent the electorate, actually they represent their constituents...Jacob Rees Mogg's constituents voted to Remain...Anna Soubry's voted to Leave. What an unholy pickle Cameron got the country into by pandering to his right wing. We don't need referendums in this country we've got Parliament who know the facts better than Tom, Dick and Harry. Personally, I intend to trust Parliament to get this right and I don't intend to go on the streets looking for a fight because it just isn't British. I'll fight you here though...it's called freedom of speech.
PS No need to knock Ladybird books.
How have the 17% Sweden Democrats been ignored...in what way For instance, Annie got 8% and she used her mandates to great effect...Jimmie can use his 17% according to his ability. If the others don't agree with him that's tough, he'll have to wait until he gets some more.
Did you get that nonsense from a Ladybird book?
No no no.
MPs sit in Parliament to represent the electorate who voted out almost 3 years ago.
That is democracy.
It's called Parliamentary Democracy and that's the sort of democracy we have in the UK.
If we do not leave the EU on 29/3 which now appears inevitable, and the delay is open ended, which the EU would prefer, then the consequences will be civil unrest on an unprecedented level.
Sadiq Khan has earmarked a number of London buildings as makeshift morgues, and has already consulted colleagues on the protocols for applying martial law in the capital.
Just the night before last, when May made the statement that no Brexit was now a real possibility, MPs on all side cheered loudly. Utterly brazen and shameless the lot of them.
History will judge this administration very harshly. It only expected one outcome of the Brexit vote and the electorate did not oblige, and the electorate will pay the price, while MPs sail serenely above it all.
The British maillots jaunes will be on the streets within a month.
Eric, so we disagree! No matter! One point only, take Sweden for one example, 17% of the voters was simply ignored because they wanted change. That’s not drama, that’s the reality. The EU is anti-democratic, and wants to remove the ballot box, because they think they now best. Interestingly, you didn’t claim that Steve Baker could have been lying about No 10, and the deal offered by Tusk. We do agree at least on that much! I find that concerning. If they don’t change, its blood on the streets! atb
If you remember, they had their application turned down in 2016 because they hadn't got a Natura2000 certificate, which according to the Rules at the time wasn't needed until the Environmental Court Process.
This is from ExchangeProfessor on Adven yesterday but I can't find the link..if it was an interview I wouldn't be able to translate it anyway:
"Boliden's CEO:" Very frustrated "about the government's delaying
Boliden's CEO Mikael Staffas is" very frustrated "about Stefan Löfven's government continuing to delay Boliden's plans to build a new mine in Norrbotten that would create several thousand jobs .
"There is not that much better copper project in Europe," says Mikael Staffas of deposit Laver. "....
They are getting cross ...... about bloody time !
Will we fight or will we run. Lol
Back to BEM....Friday strong on the Aktie... and they're getting a bit cross to put it mildly over there. :-)
Thanks Sooz. A few of us may still see it that way eh? Right, back to BEM. Erm, nice quiet day. No dramas. Good. Morny. x
Well done, Eric.
That's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Morning. How dramatic Aug. The frustrations of Brexiteers are evident, and understandable. We have had ample time to leave the current EU system though, yet still can't quite seem to agree on how best to do it. Of course we also have the nations within the UK not all voting for Brexit. Problems, problems, problems. Perhaps we should look at ourselves first then, before taking a wrecking ball to the EU, in its current form. You know my feelings on the whole situation anyway. As for the EU, we should stay in and work with our European partners and friends to bring about change for the better. Limit the bureaucracy. We certainly can't do that if we are no longer involved. I believe it has been proven that, our own current way of government, leaves much to be desired. We have issues with our home nations to resolve on an ongoing basis, and we certainly can't be expected by the EU member states to potentially wave goodbye to them on our own "hard" terms, then pop back when we please in the future to have our cake and eat it. The unfortunate old British pastime of ruling the roost wherever we laid our hat doesn't work these days. Nor should it. Let's share our problems and sort a better way forward then, not regress back. On our Jack Jones. Think about the people. All the people. How would you feel as an EU citizen living in the UK, or a UK citizen living, for example, in Spain? Brexit isn't just a matter of trading more freely with the rest of the world. It has severe social consequences, as well as economic. What Cameron brought about was downright irresponsible. There was never a plan in place for a leave result. Proven today. No wonder the weasel literally disappeared as soon as he could. In fact, on results day, Camshaft overtook Usain Bolt on his run for cover, I mean, on his run home. For all the faults of the EU, in its present form, it surely must be acknowledged that the UK has long since been European. Moreover, today, in the make up of our population. So diverse. We can't suddenly pop off then from our European meeting place because we aren't getting our own way all the time. We still have to live with ourselves when we get home. Within the changed landscape of the UK. Of course, being European, I like that. Staying to fight for my rights, with my allies, to make things better, rather than doing a runner. To where exactly? Lol. Right. Time for tea, seeing as you woke me up, and as it's Friday, I might even have a crunchie. Atb Aug, as ever, and ok, we can share the tissues, that would be fair. I'll treat us to the popcorn this time though. Sourced within the EU, naturally. It's a local shop for local people. Lol. :-)
