Kallak’s ‘super’ high – grade Green pecker!
Morning.... IEEFA report from last year (much on offer to read)..
https://ieefa.org/sites/default/files/2022-06/Iron%20Ore%20Quality%20a%20Potential%20Headwind%20to%20Green%20Steelmaking_June%202022.pdf
“Headwind to green steelmaking”.. High grade in the range of 67% - just (3%) of iron ore.. “Such deposits are scarce”.. $$$$$$$$$$...
Sammi appeal? Not a chance of success, not when during a lengthy nine plus years of application process it was the same objectors who demonstrated that they did not always engage with the applicant.. Offers of Compromises throughout the process were made by the applicant..
Environmental permits? Green steel have made all of the winning Green arguments with DRI process, then were granted their permits pronto.. DRI process is not possible without High - grade iron ore, regardless of, from where that high – grade ore comes (Kallak = DRI).. Paris climate accord/ resulting EU policies will take care of Kallak – legally! If they want a green omelette (HSGS), then they have to crack the Kallak (SUPER HIGH – GRADE) egg… “Significant optionality”? atb…..
G'night both ... sleep well .... 😁
Night Bans and Eric. Yes, the big Green Woodpecker with red bits on it, smashing looking...lost my bird book so I can't check the names properly. Did you know they eat bees? Not very clever is it. Lol.
Thanks for the info Eric. Have a nice weekend, hope it stops raining for a bit I'm fed up with it.
Nighty night. x
Night Bans. 🛌
Sooz, this year in BEM hasn’t gone as we’d have hoped, or were led to believe at the beginning of the year, but we’ve broken the back of it now and I’m trusting surely that we’ll have a brighter year next year.
We can enjoy some friendly chat in the meantime, and sharing info if we come across anything that might help with the wait.
I do like woodpeckers but not seen a green one in my garden yet. A few Robins watching me do the gardening over the summer as well. They were seeing how well I did. Lol.
Nighty night. xx
Apols Suzy but I think you mean you had a visit from a "Green Woodpecker" .... there are two spotted types the greater and lesser which are both red/white/black .... the lesser is really small though.... .... we get a greater spotted one in our garden every now and again ....
I had a visit from a greater spotted woodpecker yesterday, that's the green one...the black and red one comes a bit more often.
Good, I'm very glad to hear that, Eric. It bit disappointing the decision will go into next year, early next year we hope...but I'm resolved to wait patiently and travel hopefully, regardless of being called dumb. We can talk about birds and stuff.
From BEM’s LinkedIn page, posted around 2 hours ago:
#BEM is aiming to provide high-quality iron as a #CriticalMaterial to be used in the #fossilfree steel manufacturing, and play a pivitol role in the creation of a secure European supply chain for the #GreenTransition

I know. The waiting here Sooz is unreal, some of us could become fossilised before the final decision arrives. Lol.
Nice that it’s up over in Sweden, I think you were right about the bottomless bottom being over with here. Just a question of waiting a few months maximum, all being well. Which will take the objection and final decision to the two year point. Still ridiculous after the nine year wait prior, but what can we do? 🤔
Enjoy your weekend. x
Hello Eric. They used to be dinosaurs once upon a time, birds...what will we have evolved into by the time we get the news we 're waiting for? Nice blue finish again in Sweden, if trading has finished, I suppose it has with them being an hour ahead of us.
I’m liking this talk of birdies. Love them.
I have a cheeky squirrel in my garden at the moment as well though. He’s a fence runner and loves to play the drums on my refuse bins with his feet. Lol.
Isn’t the natural world amazing.
...... not up here troaj we get dozens of chaffinches & goldfinches (literally dozens) on our bird feeder most days .... greenfinches, thrushes (mistle & song), robins, blackbirds, coal blue and great tits as well are regular visitors as well as a host of others like gulls, crows, wood****, curlew etc etc .... the difference between here & family in middlesex/surrey is noticable .... i mainly blame cats to be honest .....
eagles take their fair share of sheep (lambs) as well but if you really want to see something impressive google "eagle deer attack mull' .....
night suzy ... always a pleasure passing time chatting ... till tomoz
Or I could look into it's eyes...adders have a split pupil and grass snakes a round one! Lol
Nighty night
Bannor
since climate changes in the last 30 years say
chaffinch/greenfinches....not seen any for decades, but stilll get goldfinches stopping for a drink, out of the pond.
dont see thrush's anymore
dont get toads in the pond anymore, only frogs
think theyll take a small dog, them sea eagles
(hebrides?....they say,its very windy,up there,turbine country)
suz....if its a grass snake, you must have some boggy/wet places near ya then.
Sounds like it Suzy ..... Adders only get to about 2&1/2ft tops ..... take a tape measure to it next time just to be sure though eh! 😁
I'm pretty sure it was a grass snake, it was too big for an adder (I hope) about three feet long with a black spotted pattern along it's side, I've seen it twice.
.....Anaconda's in Sweden eh .... who knew 😂
Indeed Troaj ... There's a nesting pair of Sea Eagles a couple hundred yards away so they're often overhead we've got Goldie's too .... coincidentally I often get Slow worms in back gardens anywhere from 3" to 18" frit the beejesus out of me when I turned a grass pile over when we first got here writhing around & discarding their quivering tail tips .... as for sparrowhawks we were watching 20 or so Chaffinches on the bird feeder and with a whoosh one of them disappeared in the claws of one gotta admire the speed & agility of them & at least unlike murderous cats they only kill what they eat....
Saying that,if your in sweden.....ya get different species, over there
(anaconda's.lol)
Suz
it'll probably be a sloworm suz
grass snakes tend to live near marshy/wet areas
Theyre like spitfires suz
they can out dogfight owt, they'll even catch a pigeon and theyre crafty, they wait in a bush, waiting for um to land on your bird feeder.
when theyre around, all the bird songs go silent and move out of theyre way,
hebrides bannor?....you'll see SEA EAGLES THEN,50 years ago, there wasnt any....now theyre hundreds
And I've got a snake...might have told you that already, it spoke to me it said, I know what you think of me but you're a mere human being. Gosh! So I am.
Troaj...Last summer I was in the garden working and I'd left the front door open, when I came in there was a sparrow hawk sitting at the end of the table...I was a bit surprised and decided to try and catch it, put my welding gloves on first and managed to pick it up, it was pretty exhausted I think. I said now you know what it feels like somebody bigger than you. A few hours later when I came back in, there were feathers all over the pace and bird muck on the walls and I found a thrush hiding behind a couch. The hawk must have pursued the thrush through the front door and got exhausted trying to get back out. I'll never forget holding that bird, it was marvelous.
Having lived in & around London for most of my adult life I'm now fortunate enough to live on an island in the inner Hebrides .... no foxes, no badgers loads of other wonderful animals & birds too numerous to mention though.... not everyone's cuppa & there's absolutely no fast food outlets ...... keeps me very very happy 😁
