By which I mean, if I turned up with my bucket and spade they'd tell me where to go. :-)
They don't issue exploration licences to any Tom, Dick or Harry.
Suzy2- I’m interested in your quote of Persson. Im guessing they don’t become mines because it isn’t economic to do so, right? Rather than because the government decides not to give them relevant permits. An obvious point but nice to iron out ambiguity if you can. TSP’s point stands that it’s almost a trap to issue an exploration licence but not a mining permit, right?
3cardbrag - I love your idea about tweeting Greta! Imagine if we had a Greta-approved iron ore mine! Doibt it would work though. She’d either not reply (can’t be seen supporting ANY iron ore mine, least of all one on Sami lands) or reply in the negative. That it’s a bad idea and then you’ve made a rod for your own back. Risk outweighs the benefits so although I still love the idea, it’s far too risky.
That’s the one
you did ok KNB?
couple stocks have been good to me this week, makes up for the wasted time ive had funds locked in here. BEM fustrating the heck out of me
Good afternoon,
Blimey, I thought I was an old cynic ha ha
I meant legitimately hide behind, in the swedes minds. Of course, anything legitimate about what's going on here ended long ago, probably moments after receipt of the application almost 8 years ago.
ATB.
TSP - I believe you had a good week - saw you elsewhere. Well done buddy.
Don’t be silly now……”legitimately hide behind”. Legitimately??? Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!..... We was never going to get a decision shortly after the KU report was published, because it stated that the Government had not been spending the time on the application, and any award of concession shortly thereafter, may have provided grounds to challenge that decision, making that very argument [KU report] The Government won’t leave that door open.... imo only atb
I'm not sure we know what Greta thinks about this mine. I believe I read somewhere that there is political support for the mine going ahead precisely because it is not only greener than importing ore, but also for strategic reasons. I believe UNESCO will scratch their heads and reply something along the lines that they are not interested in getting involved as, whilst it is near a world heritage site, it isn't on a world heritage site. It'll go back to the government, but the political hot potato will have remained hot. Thus, as a sensible investor, I would wish a quicker return, and press the board (you don't need to do it here - write them an email) to come up with more imaginative ideas - for example by finding a win/win scenario with the Sami. An open letter isn't enough in my book. And there are mechanisms beyond writing 'an open letter' that are far more effective. The Sami don't want to get egg on their face.
100k buy
I wonder what Kurt will add to last years update:
"Kallak remains the foundation asset of the Company. I do not need to repeat my comments from recent announcements, save to say we have met the requirements of Swedish minerals and environmental legislation to be granted the Concession.
"Beowulf is in the business of exploring for minerals and developing mining projects, thereby creating shareholder value. We are not interested in fighting legal battles, but if forced to do so to get a fair outcome, we will pursue that course of action with vigour. We have completed the groundwork with our legal advisors, making our case for being awarded the Concession and assessing our legal options should the Swedish Government continue to stall on a decision.
"Vardar has been a clear highlight for the period and an exciting addition to Beowulf. Fennoscandian is cementing its position in Finland's emerging battery sector. When it comes to Kallak, we have been steadfast in our commitment to the project since we were first granted an exploration licence in 2006. We have invested over SEK 80 million.
"Most importantly, there is significant local support for Kallak, which we intend to honour by partnering with the community in the development of a modern, sustainable and innovative mining operation, thereby contributing to the resurgence of Jokkmokk; a brighter economic future for the town, one that it deserves.
"We look forward to keeping the market updated on further developments across our business areas."
It seems to me that the KU investigation, although excoriating in it's review of the appalling treatment the application has, and continues to receive, is just the latest example of the swedes pretending to engage with their own process.
In reality, it is the now familiar ploy of duping investors into believing justice does exist and, indeed a decision must now be " forthcoming"
In reality, the process is still stalled, and now UNESCO are involved, the swedes can legitimately hide behind yet another disinterested bureaucracy which is about as pro mining ( of any kind ) as darling Greta herself.
So Suzy I'm an idiot of the nice kind lol
The Mining Inspector said, very few exploration licences ever become mines. And that might be out problem...ours is far, far too good.
We all agree with you there Toppy...you should be able to exploit a mineral resource when you've found it, if your application is approved by the Government Mining Inspector, and our has been, twice.
Now with the benefit of the KU report’s findings, what necessary changes do you think are needed to anyone’s approach, so the application is properly served, and that a decision can be made asap? atb.
What mask? I've posted here since February 2011...9,341 posts you could choose from.
Finally I might also add its clear some people are happy to hide behind an anonymous screen rather than show themselves funny that.
were granted exploration rights can anyone show me where it says you can explore but then not exploit what you find. To me that looks like a trap.
BTW Suzy name calling is not lady like dearie I seem to remember someone mentioned years ago about you being Kurts girlfriend LOl
Suzy who are you? ............... no seriously who are you? ive never met you behind the mask your wearing?
PS Forgot to say you're an idiot TSP.
There's a political initiative...it's working it's way and that's the proper means to effect this decision. We know where we are, the Government is in a corner and that's progress, the KU has been effective and there's every reason to expect a decision relatively soon...by which I mean weeks or a couple of months at the most.
hence why I say we should bombard Baylan on twitter let him know good people are angry! Why should it be someone who lays down infront of a digger that has the power to prevent a legitimate resource be mined?
Its NOT in ANY area of restrictions!
