Morning young man. I dont know ed. I had forgotten about that. I think it was January, that the change was to take place. atb
Thanks for the excellent posts, nice to see a bit of positivity. Do you know if the new CAB gaffer is in place or is it still the old one whose on the Sami's side atb.
5 years and a chronology of false deadlines leading nowhere confirms my view as incontrovertible fact. You are quite right. No point debating it.
I agree with you Goog, not sure why you bother debating it with the broken record, stating his opinion as fact again, it's tedious in the extreme.
Morning. Subtle thank you! Googlebot I think you may be very well right. If the current administration, doesnt want to deal with both, Kurt Budges alleged failings of some, during this process, and make a decision on N Kallak, then they will deserve all of the criticism, which is likely to come their way. In my opinion only. atb
" agreed process " Well the government trashed that yonks ago...
The belief in a quick decision is just wishful thinking. Look at the evidence. The government's 5 year, consistent modus operandi is to continually kick the can down a never ending road.
The agreed process is that if MI and CAB can't agree it goes to Govt. That is what has happened (although we were here before prior to Norra Carr). The Govt have now consulted everybody and have all the input necessary for a decision. Damberg has stated the process needs speeding up, he would look a bit foolish if this got delayed again. The only question mark as far as I am concerned is the election. For political reasons only I can see them delaying it till after. Others will point out that that it will be to their advantage to make the decision before but I am not so sure.
Where is the evidence for a quick decision? The government have never agreed any deadline or timescale for a decision. They have wasted 5 whole years and have revelled in the toing and froing of parochial tittle tattle. No chance.
Disagree, there is a chance we will get a decision within weeks. Even if the Sami get another chance to comment that's positive in my eyes because the Govt wouldn't bother if it was going to be a 'no' and they have nothing more to add. Has to happen in the next 8 weeks imo otherwise we are looking at the end of the year.
The CAB have always been in the Sami's corner, maybe even directed by the Sami. And now all comments are in, none of which have revealed a thing we didn't already know, the silence and lack of direction or timescale resumes. What are the chances of the government making a decision without further delaying tactics? Zero.
Your 14:07 is spot on too Eric, it's as if CAB has been exposed to having some affiliation with the Sami.
Great post Aug.
Evening Eric, and thank you. This application process has been a disgrace. Failed to follow the prescribed process. Seemingly bias etc. When there are inconsistencies in anything commercial, its usually due to some fiddle. With what real objective, and who else might be complicit, we dont know. We agree, that the Sami are a determined bunch with political muscle at their disposal. They have known for decades, that there is iron ore at the Kallaks, and for a number of years that we have had ANI status, because the volume and grades warranted its award, and yet, they never claimed ANI status, for reindeer herding, over the many years of drilling, not even when the application was submitted, and then they claim ANI status, at a time, when it is easy to allege that this was done to frustrate the process further. So whats that all about? Did they not have foresight, or the fighting spirit previously? Again, its inconsistent with what we do know about them, and their convictions. Much more to all of this, I feel Eric. In my opinion only. atb
Furthermore, the criteria for the licence, obviously still there, yet bypassed with alarming consistency. In my view. And so we wait.
.....from...
As ever Aug, a thoughtful post fro you. My bugbear is that the Sami are part of a two-pronged attack (with the CAB) against a Kallak mine, yet are not themselves involved officially in the application process. I'm not suggesting that the Sami should officially be involved, but as they aren't, then I would trust, in all fairness, that whatever they say in an attempt to derail, must not become the centre of attention. Especially as any evidence of even potential reindeer harm by a mining operation is absent. It is wholly wrong, in my view. that the Sami and CAB appear to carry equal weight, when only the CAB is recognised as being an official party to the process. Only my thoughts, but it is seemingly the difference between Beowulf receiving a shotgun blast from a single-barrel, and a double-barrel. Makes a difference, and the official single-barrel should be the only form of brandishing allowed. Lol. On we go!
Morning. MICK_OC - Thank you for the information. The Samis response, again lacks any detail to support their assertion that, reindeer herding cannot possibly co-exist with mining operations, and that, these issues cannot be solved through protective and precautionary measures (a difficult argument to make is that). They also claim that BEMs argument for mining at Kallak, being more sustainable, and emits less carbons than mining in some other parts of the world, to be a weak argument! - Really? Thats not the opinion of the Swedish Government, nor is it the opinion of Stefan Savonen, who is the vice president for energy and climate at LKAB. https://im-mining.com/2017/04/19/swedens-lkab-excels-in-cutting-carbon-emissions/ If the Government denies the concession, they will have to justify that decision with a very strong argument(s), because when it comes to all things environmental, it would contradict domestic policy objectives, and raise real questions, concerning obligations re international agreements, to which Sweden is a signatory. In my opinion only. atb
Are rubbish and been exposed as that the Sami basing its rebuttal on the same biased arguments is to be expected and nothing to be concerned about imho. Can’t see a reason a reason now for this process not to reach a positive decision shortly unless the elections get in the way.
Amazing the amount of rubbish paper-pushers can compile.
Thanks for that Mick. It appears to me that the two weeks extra were used to directly reply to BEM's submission. As Bobtree says no actual stand-alone info from the Sami perspective, just wholehearted agreement with the CAB. Seems they are having trouble recruiting new reindeer herders lol, wonder why? Jahkagasska Tjiellde had no comment to make, been pretty vocal on all other Sami aspects. The interesting piece (last paragraph)....In the event that the Government complies with the companys request to obtain the opinions of the SGU, Mountain State Region and Norrbotten SweMin are requesting Sami village the opportunity to comment on the issue before the case is finally decided. Well, they certainly want the last word as they have here now. Ive taken my profits and Im still invested here, I dont know if this whole process can be described as a tragedy or a farce. One thing I feel confident about is that anybody waiting on a result in the near future will have plenty of time to take a long holiday before any news is forthcoming. GLA.
Thanks Mick. Not sure what to say. Cheers.
Bets placed. Still needs patience but next step will be interesting.
Had a quick look and could be wrong but...... they don't appear to put forward any factual information or anything of substance. It all appears to be The Company claim but they have no effective rebuttals or evidence of their own. Do they really believe that ALL of the Artic Circle is their grazing area?
Many thanks for uploading this. Nice read but nothing new.
