The Government surely wouldn't even have to consider passing comment on any unofficial award, one that didn't have legal validity. It would be a totally irrelevant exercise for it to do so and an unnecessary waste of resource. So the Government is not showing a preference or otherwise for reindeer husbandry, it is simply not passing comment, because it isn't appropriate to do so on an unofficial matter. In my view lb. Regards.
As you know I disagree, in what you say about the Government delaying a decision, although BEM believes that the proposal is good (Cant say no, wont say yes). Im not qualified to make comment on any legal issues however, both the CAB and the MI have made their recommendation to the Government, I would argue as an investor therefore, that a failure of determination, should be a legal consideration, should such considerations become necessary. I just do not see that ever happening. Its in no ones interest. Environmental arguments are for a concession to be granted, thats big politics to have on your side. In my opinion only. atb
The real irony is that the reindeer aren't wandering about the site - they just need to cross the road to it twice a year......solutions are available to allow them to coexist - and that's why the Sami/CAB will fail.
Whether or not the Samis hand is strong, the facts are, that, 5 years after submitting the application to mine, reindeer are wandering free around the proposed mine site at Kallak. There is little prospect of that changing, so Id say the government has a clear preference for reindeer husbandry. After all, the government did not reject the ANI award for reindeer herding at Kallak, even though it has no legal validity whatever, and was announced 4 whole years after the ANI status for mineral extraction was announced in the same area. The government could not make their intentions more obvious, but they cant legally deny the license, so continue to do nothing decisive.
lbjj the irony is, that the CABs failings, as you assert, are not supposed to be quite so apparent, in a democratic process. They have not in any way, strengthened the hand of the Sami. Suzy2 I would take a guess, based on past reading only. That when you selected that date of April 13th, you did so, having dismissed the following Monday, however, wrestled for a while, as to whether to go for the Thursday or the Friday. As said, just a guess. atb
The irony in this sorry saga, is that the agency at the bottom of the bureaucratic food chain, the CAB, is dictating terms, aided and abetted by their cronies, the Sami, who have no status in the published application process. If you honestly believe the decision is close, I wish you well, but, in my view, it is no nearer now than any time over the past 5 years.
She did her job...and she has supported the application now twice.
It was early February 2017. Is ASA still head of the MI?
When was it that she said that, was it last January...in which case we've had a vernal equinox, summer solstice, autumn equinox, winter solstice and another vernal equinox...that should do it I think. atb
Aug...And weeks not months (in a sort of cosmic sense). Lol
AndyDF thank you for the information. Suzy2 I see no reason why not. It fits well with time lines since the Governments involvement (questions to the CAB). atb
Indeed - why would they "reserve the right to comment" after a decision is made if they expect it to be a NO? Amazed we haven't caught up with the swedes yet..... Sticking with May 6th.
My turn next, Aug....13 April 2018 :-)
Thanks Andy, that's all very interesting about graphene, what an amazingly adaptable substance it is...and being able to detect a disease in 10 minutes. The world never fails to astonish, I'm still awed when I switch on the light...gosh, wow!
Lets circle the wagons. Lol. In the Samis most recent final comments, they have aligned themselves with the CABs comments in respect of all of the reasons as to why they believe that a concession should be denied (to promote the CABs position). That might suggest to some that, they anticipate the grant of concession, and some preparation is under way to challenge any grant of that concession. If that is the feeling, with the powers, then a decision may very well be sooner, and not later. Its just an opinion only. atb
The graphite is a much more solid commercial prospect, in my opinion, and is likely to be producing revenues before there is a mine at Kallak. Unless Kurt sells BEM in its current state for a song to a Swedish company, he is trapped professionally and the ore is staying in the ground. Kiruna has almost a century of ore left to mine, has all the infrastructure and tax revenues for the Swedish exchequer. Does Sweden need a foreign company to mine Kallak at all, let alone now?

Lol. Boof!
There was a proposal floated during Sinclair Pollocks time for a slurrified pipeline to a port on the west Norweigan coast back in 2011, It was costly but do-able ...
Eric....Kapow!!!
Aye Mick. fair comment. I can't imagine he'll be sitting about and waiting for the phone to ring. He'll be in there with his glasses off.
I know he will, my point is I hope he's in dialogue with them to get a predicted timeline.
I'm sure that as soon as Kurt knows anything from the Swe-Gov he'll inform us.
can't disagree with those points Ibjj, although I am hopeful Kurt will stick to his word and update us soon.
Thanks for the nice nickel news Sooz. :-)
