"Even if V1 hits oil it wouldn't make any difference as we can't extract it. Simple. "
I thought at one stage not so long ago we had $10m? $4m for V1 does not deplete the pot - there should be enough for a well head, and if not - well, finding oil in an area where it is stated there are no barriers for the block, should enable a loan easily enough.
Well, just looking at the PC area on Google maps satellite, which is immediately northeast of the MATD area, one can see that PC have made a mess - the time frame for the images may be a couple of years old, but perhaps there is room for improvement in the way these oil heads are deployed, and, I don't know - maybe not spill so much oil? Just a thought.
GKhan - FairAnalyst is posting the facts along with upbeat speculation with cautions - that's what the board is for.
Spainish, interesting first post - "I wish them well but the facts remain unless Matad communicate their strategy" - they have - see website and RNS.
"are funded to deliver this years activities" - they are - see website and RNS
"this ain’t going nowhere quickly." I don't think anyone could accuse MATD of being a fast transformation company, but it should progress this year at least.

Seems true in many cases M365. Correction to my earlier statement - there is a disclaimer stating the opinion is the writer's and not the MP's so maybe words are being attributed to them that they did not actually state. Thought it a bit odd for MP's to definitively state anything.

Not anti-Budge but: 'How does Beowulf expect investment in Vardar Minerals to materially affect BEM's value? What is the goal of the minority share and does BEM aim to be become the owner of the business in the future? How will BEM prevent Vardar Minerals from declaring bankruptcy (or the Kosovo equivalent) and walking away from BEM's investment?'
Just a couple of questions which would be good. Unfortunately I cannot listen in live as I have a pre-arranged meeting but some pointed probing about Vardar would interest me as I worry it is Agricola all over again.

T - I have to agree with you.
Far from being a trusted country for investment, this is a nail in Sweden's coffin. Far from a realistic decision. I doubt this could be viewed as anything but a corrupt collusion of individuals in positions of authority and it reflects horrendously on UNESCO.
Very dissapointing.
Good reminder Pocko - this is the first (I believe) tranche of £719,000 slated to be invested in Vardar so maybe we will indeed become majority owners.
I think my difficulty with it is mainly that I don't think gold is a good target. It sounds good, but gold mining is hard to make a profit on; you have to shift a lot of dirt, yields are variable and the chemical extraction process is messy and hard to justify as environmentally friendly unlike Kallak. And gold itself is a precarious product of debatable future value. Overall, gold sounds good, but I prefer graphite as an alternative for BEM. Just my take.
Ok, why don't we just add another £200000 and actually take control of Vardar then "It remains a good time to have a gold target in the portfolio " might sound as though it actually means something. Who else is funding this thing?
You are right there TFE, I read your email, heard your frustration and had (have) no good reply. The structure of the Kosovo operation seems somewhat obscure - we have just under 50% ownership, well... who are the >50% owners? What is the goal? To prove to Sweden that BEM will invest elsewhere? Kurt mentioned shareholder value is possible from this investment - it would be interesting to know how and likely timescale.
Is there a belief that we will be able to sell mineral finds at significant gain on investment in Kosovo? Is that selling finds or Vardar? What is the expected payback period? Vardar appears to be a black hole at the moment, with ever decreasing increments of ownership presumably designed to keep BEM away from mojority share. Is this mostly to show Sweden investment can go elsewhere?
Not convinced gold is a good target, I prefer the graphite. A quick look online indicates ouput costs (8th largest in world)
Goldcorp’s 2018 gold production was relatively on par with 2017’s output of 2.5 million ounces, and in Q3 2018 alone, the miner managed production of 503,000 ounces of the yellow metal at all-in sustaining costs of US$999 per ounce.
Smaller means more expensive; extraction and processing seems expensive to me and thus margins low. Still, if we could find some and sell the rights that might work.
