I have posted my reply to you on the appropriate chat board, BearleyCalls. I did not realise that you would start spamming the other chat boards. Your post is misleading at best. Be careful.
I am sure the BATs community here are also not interested in something that is entirely irrelevant to this share either.
Beware LWHL is talking nonsense. Read the post below and tell me how this is mathematically possible.
And I bought a few hundred shares here (first time holder, in answer to your question), just to keep my word about not posting here otherwise.
Already sold (and had a stop loss in place in case it bit me), but it was worth it for the principle of the matter. So, a 1.2% profit, (buttons) but the real reward is in being able to reply to your nonsense.
In case we fail to break the 25 level again. Got a more sensible allocation in this one now, so will take a few back if we get a retrace to the low 24's prior to ex div.
Otherwise, going to sit tight with what I have left, and await the longer term target price. Good weekend all.
BATS is definitely being "managed" in this range for the benefit of the buyback programme. I've seen it before with HBR and others. I know buybacks are a polarising topic on these boards, but I'd rather they end it soon so we can see how Mr. Market truly values us. I would also welcome a move to NYSE :)
Compared to the rest of the market today, this is looking quite solid. Let's wait for NY's judgement in a few hours...
Steady as she goes?...
In addition to trading update, I wonder if they will offer an update on the ITC situation and plans.
A bit nervous as previous H1 updates haven’t always been received well!
What should we be looking for? Or more importantly what will the markets look for?
Are you maybe talking about the chewing tobacco produced by the Skoal Bandit factory in East Kilbride? They were on a BBC program back in the 1980s That's Life presented by Esther Rantzen.
Does anybody else remember this?
Mrs Thatcher got wind of a US company that intended to introduce something similar into the UK in her time.
It was known to cause serious mouth cancers and she immediately introduced a law to prevent it being sold.
Jefferies raises British American Tobacco price target to 3,400 (3,300) pence - 'buy'
Agreed, I only made the comment because of an earlier post by "Clank"
Currently in Morocco I note that the majority of. young men smoke - and probably will be hooked. for. life.
Not. good for them but good for investors. Heavy cannabais. smoking too - I believe Bats are into cannabis through an investment in a. Canadian. company
Kentio, only with FTSE 100 names do I hear people proudly announcing that their dividends have offset capital losses. This isn't something that anyone really sets out to do when investing...Divis are supposed to be icing on the cake.
Agreed re the rest of the world smoking though, 40-50% of men in most high population countries smoke. Because "this is what real men do", or so clients tell me in China, Russia, Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt etc.
Velo Nicotine POUCHES/SNUS sorry. You’ll see the round boxes behind every shop counter
As the next big thing, am I right in thinking Velo is owned by BATS

A yield of c.10% should more than compensate for capital loss. 5 years at 10% = 50%. Bats. sp. unlikely to fall. that much.
I travel. the world a lot and. I assure you smoking is. still going. strong. Presently in Morocco where it is hard to find a non smoking male. I am in an apartment above a tabac and there is a constant stream of. customers. Then think of. China - 40% are smokers. Throughout. Africa. there is little or no education about the health problems which can arise.
Although BATS has fallen away past few years, with the share buy back for cancellation and still generating huge cash one would think we should hold up and potentially increase a little from such lows. Also the yields is very attractive and it’s a good fund managers share where they boast yields one would think.
Anyone know why BATS is slipping back ? The UK Govt has even excluded their prized Tobacco bill today, thus won't even be discussed for many months....... 🤣🤣🤣
10% is a lot of a portfolio to hold in BATS
Whilst the yield remains a key lure, recently it hasn't been enough to compensate for capital losses.
Current short term valuations are also quite weak so keeping the share just for the dividend doesn't make financial sense to me as an investor.
Sliced mine again this morning now BATS down to 10% of my protfolio, will grab back again if it drops back, if not will just hold remaining small stake for divi.
I decided to take a few off the table for a small profit. Still quite a bit overweight here, but more comfortable adding those back, should we get a retrace to the 23's on no company-specific news.
Still my largest holding and fairly relaxed at the time of print, which probably means you should all run for the hills :) GLA.
Roughly 9% at the time of print. A bit of an overweight position and not really intended, but I just felt it was so undervalued in the high 22's that I 'flexed' my risk parameters somewhat and bought a few more tranches.
I will trim some though in the 25's now and more in the 26's. 28 quid and I will look to underweight my position here. If we get there of course. Who knows etc? GLA.
LWHL - can you. say what % of your portfolio. is in BATS? Just for interest. as I have. 4%
Agreed, seems like the SP has recovered. Should see this keep rising IMO
Nice work. Never foolish to take a little profit. Have set a sell order for one small tranche myself, but might cancel it if we close above the 200 today.
I have a slightly bigger position than I would ideally like in some ways, but equally, as things stand, I do not think we are expensive at even 10% higher than the current SP.
Combine that opinion with the big dividend and it is IMO easier to be patient. But time will tell. GLA.
My extra 200 sold today for a little profit. likely to rebuy if it drops back below £23 and might sell a few more if it climbs to £25-£26. every little counts. glah
