South , As you know avn are in a closed period Haylas 4 will not be on line until the end of June so unfortunately no information can be published regarding contracts how can you sell something that’s not operation. Obviously the team are out there actually doing the sales as posted Avanti are the GOLD SPONSORSHIP ever item will have Avanti all over it buses , billboards Tickets , programs , inventory . Hope you fat lady interested in a loss weight program . ;-)
It is worrying not to hear any news, but im just hoping the AVN sales team are out there doing whatever they can to gain contract wins etc. Hoping that with Nigel Fox's experience and contacts in Africa we can make progress somewhere., after all, the structure is there for Avn, present in 118 countries worldwide, and being a first mover in ka band and all the other positives about the company. What about South America, where the steerable beams can also reach, are the 'A' team out there seeking new business?
Laguerre your posting is irrelevant and unwarranted. Some of us do not have the time to go through every detail of what has and hasn't been covered. And actually what you says has been covered clearly hasn't. Don't bother wasting your time posting when what you say has no foundation. All I required was a simple answer. I assume sales etc will be confirmed in press and also RNS. The lack of such news though is worrying especially as Avanti have put a time bomb on raising the necessary funds.
Tyche, you miss my point. Yes of course it's good news that a major outfit like Bentley Walker ranges Avanti (although this is not new news). However, to post a link showing that an arm of Bentley Walker is amongst 130 other approved suppliers to the UK Government's Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme is neither in the least new news nor in the least significant IMO. I'm all for new, interesting and significant info being posted on AVN - and hopefully of a positive nature. GCCR's post IMV failed to make the grade on all three fronts. However - and please note - That's not to say that new, interesting and significant info does not or will not exist. No axe to grind from me, but balance/relevance would be nice from others. Gettit?
Yes GCCra its good news that the biggest VSAT supplier out side of North America is selling Avanti services, comments here about low markets in western europe are not true at all, I hear the opposite. Starting to think Headin thesand works for a compititor or has some kind of beef with Avanti. Bit like crobe.
GCCRa, this is hardly news. Of any sort. Bentley Walker (which is behind the Freedomsat Europe brand) has been supplying Avanti Sat broadband services for years alongside its Tooway offerings and has been one of a number of approved satellite/wireless/4G broadband providers to BDUK's Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme since that scheme's inception at the back end of 2015. There are by now roughly 130 approved suppliers to said scheme, although most only operate on a local/regional basis. You can find that full and often updated list here:- https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/community-led-broadband-schemes/suppliers I have no clue why people still look to the UK as an important and broad-based market for satellite broadband - it isn't. It might be worth looking at SSW (the biggest sat broadband UK player by far), its recent moves into other technologies and seeing if there's any way you can find out its current UK sat customer churn rate (it ain't at all pretty). As a reseller, Bentley Walker already knows this - with the vast majority of its sat broadband revenues coming out of the Middle East and Africa . AVN also seems to have worked this out - cf its attendance at the imminent East Africa show. As before, if people are looking for viable markets for AVN bandwidth, you're best off looking a LOT further afield than Western Europe. So, with respect, brandishing old hat news about a speedily declining and frankly now inappropriate geographic market for Avanti actually just makes you look desperate... straw-clutching, anyone? AIMO of course.
Good to see us as a main provider for Freedomsat Europe...... https://www.freedomsat.co.uk/superfast-30mbps-broadband?gclid=CjwKCAjw_tTXBRBsEiwArqXyMrozFjfJdQVMuQuXMHYC0BbJyaqleOkLOPrspv3tDuoSXcbvmEz7RRoCb7UQAvD_BwE
Laguerre... I'd respectfully suggest that you learn to appreciate the difference between theory and fact. Let's take a second to look at the evidence. And let's solely stick to that evidence which should be reliable - namely that communicated by the company via RNS. (I say "should", because after all, this is AIM. However...) It is a trivial matter to find the statement (repeated more than once) within the April 9th RNS issued by the company that categorically and baldly stated that, even if the D4E swap got approved (which it did), the company needs a further $50m of funding by end June 2018 in order to survive - or possibly a further $90m if a chunk of "infrequently occurring revenue" doesn't arrive in time. It's irrelevant why the company included that statement, beyond the fact that is can be presumed to be true and accurate. I won't bore everyone by copy & pasting from that RNS - it's there to read, Since that point, only one set of fund-raising has been announced, together with the results of such... the Open Offer, which looked to raise up to 4.33m (= $5.85m) but which actually raised raised 170k (= $230k). That was revealed by the company in its Apr 27th RNS, which again I won't bother copy & pasting from. Yes there's been PI speculation on the above company-stated funding shortfall... a thing that's just a tad important... but that hardly means that this issue is "covered" and has been put to bed. I'm afraid that your continual yelling of "THAT'S ALREADY BEEN COVERED" simply seems to translate as "I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT THAT". However, in case I'm wrong, do please feel free to point out where the company has provided information as to how it is going to secure - or how it has secured - the $47.8 million minimum of extra funding (or possibly $87.8 million) which it itself has stated that it requires within the next 50 days. Thanks in advance.
'HITS' . please keep up . . . . . . 'THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN COVERED' . . .
What hasn't been covered is.... where's the $46m (or the $86m) needed to keep the lights on coming from? Fund raising? Borrowing? More bonds?
Kpatel4 . . . . . . . . ."THAT'S ALREADY BEEN COVERED" . . .
As we are all aware sales and contract wins are imperative to the future of Avanti. Does anyone have any information on potential deals or any progress with sales as yet? Or when and how will we find out the state of play as the doomsday in June approaches?
Looks like Avanti are going for the sales pitch Nairobi Kenya 15/16th of May East Africa .com event and are the gold sponsors ,,,
Yes not a great deal to come from Indonesian government then, Filiago of Germany also not been paying, they broke the contract then they must abide by the rules and pay up, too many broken contracts in recent times have got Avn in trouble. Apart from poor sales etc. etc. Hylas 4 is being advertised a lot i see. lets hope they can be saved well before the 11th hour.
It’s in the RNS April the 8th or 9th a long way down it was that long I believe it was a defence contract around 4m . Regards ..
Well lets hope that if there is any compensation from the Indonesian gov. then it'll be quite a few million or so and enough to keep Avn afloat....and to keep that fat lady from singing. !
he was Laguerre'd
Just as long as the fat lady isn't falling ON him.........;-)
I think he is falling for the fat lady......
Strewth ! What's got into you matey ?
W - First off , WRONG headline, according to the following referred to links, there is NO dispute, the Govt. accept the sums involved! This a general comment to board posters. I will try to be polite . . . . . . . the real problem is that the following might only be read by posters it actually doesn't apply to . . . Access to the above information was first made available to this board on 24 April by 'Cassius' in post No 1839 with a link to a 'Space News report dated 23 April 2018' - in English! At the report end were 'Related Items', which I also read, and thought fit to draw the boards attention - with links - in my Post 340 on the 27 April 2018 in 'English'. You want to know what it says . . . . then follow the . . . . links !! Yes, you will have to find them by trawling back through the pages . . . . . WOW That's called research . . . actually on this board it's sub-title is, 'bottle feeding', because it does require a certain literacy - a skill factor apparently very few here have - try SPECSAVERS for a start, to maybe stop a heart attack! I do NOT do 'NAPPY CHANGING', and I don't know any here who do! IF board posters really can't be bothered taking their proverbial 'milk when it is stuck in their collect mouths - even babies learn to suck on their dummies' - please stop 'crying wolf' at ever seeming adversity! Want to ask a question? No problem . . . BUT . . . have the courtesy to read back through previous posts as it has probably been answered already! HOWEVER if you feel it is too time consuming, and a massive problem for YOU. . . and you discourteously ask the question anyway - I assure you the answer will be: . . 'this has already been covered'!!! W - 50 posts, you've read the board for the past few months and a year or two and were posting in April this year, how come you didn't read the earlier posts mentioned ??
Didnt facebook want it for next to nothing? Still, guess filling capacity on the cheap is better than not filling at all, unless there confident on getting deals at the higher price. History so far doesnt exactly show promise,,
Sunday Times (page 3, business section) report FB launching satellite in 2019 It's a "e-band" high frequency delivering 10gigabits a second (faster than conventional). It states this is to TEST a system, not go live and is aimed at the 3 billion who can't get internet. I can't see why FB couldn't compromise on the specification (for now at least) and take up AVN's Hylas4 capacity. Got to be cheaper than buying their own satellite and gets them running this year. Sales Team - pick up the phone, Zuckerberg is waiting........
I came across an article published this week in the Indonesian press about avanti’s lawsuit againt the Indonesian government. No clear verdict but suggests a settlement is likely to be reached soon. Search for avanti communications on twitter- should come on top of latest results. Google translate will come handy!
Today one of AVN's biggest UK customers, SSW (Europasat and Avonline) finally woke up, smelled the coffee and joined in offering 4G broadband from the usual MNOs (Vodafone in their case). That must have been a nastily jagged little pill for SSW to swallow - and was well late in the day too - but hey, I'm betting it was either do that or have precisely no remedy for the horrific churn rates being experienced in its home market on Vsat. This comes as absolutely no surprise to me. I've said before that the ever-accelerating speed at which satellite-delivered broadband is being marginalised in the UK and Western Europe as a whole is truly astonishing. It looks like the quiet word I got dropped about Viasat having already decided that their next gen 2020 bird now ain't going anywhere near Western Europe is very likely to be bang on accurate. So again for AVN, the African market, plus a few other major verticals, are going to be absolutely key.
