Does this read like tests have been procured or is it kits as in parts for lfts like the casings etc that are being flown over. Is it just coincidence that the destination is Doncaster, where Abbingdon Health have the UK’s largest lft manufacturing plant.....
Definitely plenty room Bella for news soon!
DF
Did we establish if this is us? Universities using LFTs - part of the testing of the pilot batch?

Debtfree.. Didn't think so... And yes I agree it must be one of the 3 which have passed validation. Still plenty of room for Avacta when they get their validation...
'First wave of non-machine based lateral flow technology (LFT) assessment
Updated 23 October 2020'
It does say First Wave.. So more to come as we know...
No Bella it does not which is why I posted the link showing the 3 tests that have been approved. I suppose the order relates to one of those
Does this fit with what we know about Avacta test kits and their manufacturing partners timescale wise
'Successful validation of an initial range of newly developed Covid-19 lateral flow test kits was completed by the DHSC in September, allowing for orders to be placed to secure a sustainable supply of significant volumes of these products, as a fundamental enabler of the expansion of the testing programme.'
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/assessment-and-procurement-of-coronavirus-covid-19-tests/lateral-flow-devices-results
I guess one of the 3 above which seem to have been passed
'The Provision of Freight Services for the Supply of Lateral Flow Test Kits for Testing of Covid-19' and they appear to have been given UK Govt approval in Sept...jeez the UK needs to buy UK product to support UK businesses... Even more so right now.. Unless this is just in case... Or an initial order to get off the hook and see them over until Avacta comes on stream in viable quantity. Or and this is possibly more practical they are going with several suppliers to guarantee supply because they are going to need more than a shed load this Winter and so is the rest of the World....
Apologies that 1st link makes you join. It’s Antibody tests

Looks to be this
I read this contract to be for the freight/shipping of tests, but nothing to do with the underlying tests being shipped. Can someone provide a link to a document that details the actual test being freighted over? I'm struggling to find this. I'm not reading as if we have bought Chinese LFT's but rather LFT's that are being manufactured in China which would fit with AS comments about securing manufacturing capacity in Asia.
why an earth are the government buying from china to test for the china virus.
This is for transporting test kits, aren't these different (pipettes syringes, gloves swabs etc) from the actual tests...? Doncaster isn't too far from the Whetherby Whaler.....
Coincidence?
It says lateral flow tests
No its not Avacta production if you read the bid. Its a contract to freight over already made antigen tests asap to avoid the govmt getting gazumped for supply
It says lateral flow tests
Biotime not biotine
That well know flight path of "Xiamen, China to Doncaster Sheffield" so a Yorkshire link there too...?
sorry, 'can't be us', not 'can't be used'
Spotted this earlier, had a oh no moment but not 100% but looks to be biotime antibody test so not relevant to avacta target market. They got dhsc approval in Sept.
Can't be used, its a bloody Chinese test again. Quote from the bid :
"In light of these factors the contract was awarded to Air Charter Service Ltd to meet the specific urgent need to transport test kits to the UK, utilising flights from Xiamen, China to Doncaster Sheffield during October 2020"

Apologies if already posted but if so I've missed it... could be getting exciting very soon given the dates mentioned here...
