Copper mining group Antofagasta has estimated a 5,000-tonne impact on production from ongoing protests at its Los Pelambres project in Chile, after negotiations about drought conditions with employees stalled. The company said a "small group of protestors" from the local Choapa valley community established intermittent blockades at several points on the access road to Los Pelambres since 28 February, and have caused damage to the office and equipment at the mine entrance
anyone care to take a guess at what final dividend will be this year?
Yes, looking for ANTO at sub-670 again. Maybe a bit higher. However, may have to wait a while in this climate as bulls still in charge & may remain so for some time. But patience in this game usually rewarded well, so I won't be rushing back in until markets retreat again. FWIW, wrapped up a decent enough week with profits taken on ANTO, LAD & CNA. Overall, can't complain. - All the best!
Hi Mr , what is you entry targets on this , thinking 660p - 665p first wave.
Closed 2nd buy for 26+ pts. Reasons: as previously + SP near enough target, all things considered. Maybe closed too early, as with previous buy, but more than satisfied with overall gains. Early spike across markets seems mostly galvanized by surprise RBA IR cuts. Market loves it, but underlying uncertainties remain to possibly pull things back sharply later. GLA!
Closed my 656.65 tranche at 670.83 for 14+ pts profit. Reasons: ANTO saw 5 year+ lows recently, with 646 intraday on 29th Jan. Marked sub-650 low again today. In view of those lows, I'm uncertain whether this will now drive on to 700+, or reverse soon due to profit taking. Things can change fast in this climate. As I'm leveraged, taking quick profits in climate of extreme volatility never a bad idea, esp as 1 position remains for original target. Will be glad to see this continue recovering, but this way I can also buy back if it reverses again later. - GLA.
Extreme volatility not unusual with miners. Bought twice this week, typically too soon. Reasons: recent Q4 update in line with previous guidance, ANTO bullish for mid-term forecast. Though SP at 5 year+ lows, better stocks tend to recover well in time. Key thing will be digging in should we see much further falls. Look to reassess, maybe sell at circa 700. - GLA.
Yes..................MEL is great news is'nt it !! Massive benefit to Anto !!
I am in Antofagasta now and unsure if it is public knowledge, I cannot share as price sensitive
Thinking of getting in soon. CORLIS38 was a bit premature a month ago, down 100 since, no matter what the divi is.
Announcing ex dividends tomorrow. If you got spare cash then go LONG now.
Stringvest12 - can you predict a slide for a few other shares if I give you a list please?
Wish all my holdings would SLIDE like this !! FAGS continues to do what it does best. Churn out copper year after year come rain or shine, in times of high, medium and low metal prices. Reasonable cost base, with little interference from Governments etc with low regulation. Special divs have now been ditched for higher regular dividends. Once these have been established the yield will be more quantifiable and these shares will become apparent as a bedrock for a good income portfolio
broken 750
its not been there in 5 years - personally I'm hoping for a bounce from here...but this 750 mark is a big support level I'm thinking..
could this be heading for the 600's definitely on the slide at the moment
one share sale just gone through for the conspiracy theorists amongst you. RNS due??
its buy time. just topped up again.
get in now and dont tell me i didnt tell you so :).......................happy days.GLA
At 878 MalDee it didn't make much sense, now at 797 it does.
Get in now!
just wondering if Anto is becoming a good share to range trade
Production up (and better news out of far east): http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304428004579349980219823514?mg=reno64-wsj&url=http%3A%2F%2Fonline.wsj.com%2Farticle%2FSB10001424052702304428004579349980219823514.html
According to accounts ANTO has $12.5Bn in assets and net cash of $1.5Bn. Also with a good margin on copper price with low cash costs. Surely this should be nearer £10?
