Figgy...Merkel is NOT a female leader. She is a trained socialist with ambitions that would the likes of Lenin, Stalin and Mao shiver in their graves from fear. Angela Merkel was raised in former East Germany and she never has been, was, is or will be a democrat, let alone understanding the concept of free decision making. She grew in a system in which national socialism was carried on, the GDR (German Democratic Republic), which everything BUT that bit in middle of the title and she is a strong believer in Global Socialism. As I don't think she kept get getting voted into power, because the majorities of Germans fancy watching a nutcracker making speeches, that starts to suffer from violent shakes every times it hears its own Anthem, I have no idea why she still is in power. Germany is economically one of the poorest countries within in EU, measured by the individual wealth and ownership of property, Germany is pretty much on the level of a Third World Country.
Will be great when Amigo runs faster than a hedgehog on enhanced steroids. Starts to purr like Rolls Royce engines once the cogs gets rolling...
One more time...purr
MouseykW,
Are tou serious??!
Germany is economically one of the poorest countries within in EU???
Then who is the wealthiest?
Can discuss this another time.
Might get chucked off by BB’s...
Figgy, when Merkel started, Germany had about five Food Banks in the entire country. Today Germany has over 1200 Food Banks. Child poverty is worse than in Britain and pensioner poverty is something that Germans have become accustomed to. Yet her government says that things were never as great and people were never so well off in Germany, as they are today. Well, here my childhood experience:
Dad worked full time, mum from home as a seamstress, because she wanted, not because she had to. We were four children. We had our own house, two cars, went on holiday twice a year. When I moved out, I opened the local newspaper, ticked five of the flats to rent I was interested in and moved in the same evening. Today Germany is short of approximately 5 million units of accommodation. After having taken in around 1.7 million under 'wir schaffen das' in one month in 2015 the amounts of migrants have now gone done to about 400 per DAY only ;-)
Figgy ----- purrrrrrrfect !
Yes @Figgy, I'm deadly serious. Germany has approximately 3000 billion debt.
I got the point you are making:). I think we can say the same about the UK, US and France also. Yes high levels of poverty, more than anything I’ve seen last 20years I think. Homeless and begging is everywhere now. The rich - poor divide is ridiculous today.
Individual ownership of property is not a measure of wealth. Sorry but the germans have it right and aren t a mortgage based ponzi scheme like the UK. 40% ownership and you can t pass on more than i beleive 25% of a mortgage to the renter..so you don t have a systemw whereby people pay your mortgage. You have long term.generational family wealth who own swathes of.property but the deals are very fair for renters who have rights that are way beyond what renters get in the UK. Its 1. A very good and.fair system.2. Not a measure of wealth per capita.
Who do the Germans pay rent to. 99 year mortgages for them is this still the case? Surely.
A report from 2019 the one of this year will be worse and good luck to those trying to rent over there. Lack of property causes the prices to rise. Square metre of rent in : https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2019/12/30/pove-d30.html This is just one report of many who all read pretty much the same. Here you can have a play with rental properties. Its one of the easiest sites for non Germany speakers to manouvre https://www.iamexpat.de/housing/rentals. The same apartment I rented as a student in the 1980s for DM 320 per month is now costing 780 Euro per month, in the old DM that would be around 1520. It still only has one room, one bathroom, one kitchen and I didn't study in one of the elitist universities. Please note that everything doubled in price the morning after the Euro was launched. I remember that very well. I was when it happened.
Depends on which Roll-Royce you are referring to. Roll-Royce (cars) are a subsidiary of BMW.
Rolls-Royce Holding plc (Aerospace, Defence, Energy and Marine) are an independent plc and the second largest manufacturer of aircraft engines in the world. it is the plc that is financially shaky at the moment, in part due to the knock-on impact from the significant decrease in aviation.
