Am I bovvered? No, I'm in exactly the same situation.
Not that bothered, The lower it goes before the 30th the more divi shares i get
Crash and burn! Down over 10% in a week. I feel lucky that my holding is solely the free demutualisation shares, plus dividends reinvested.
Brought mine at £1.50
A stock I timed my buys right on for once,
155p last year and 212p in the last two weeks
I suspect there are a few shorts out of pocket on this share. Seem to be closing quickly now.
Bettter results than expected and the market value is still only 73% of its net asset value.
Has a billion in cash, it has 3 billion of investments in Phoenix , HDFC (India) HDSC (China) it also owns ii which made £90 million contribution to group profit. They state that they paid about 16 times post tax profit for ii.
It seems to me they can keep the 14.6p dividend being paid for many years yet.
I am relaxed about this share. It can "weather" the storm and better times will return but it may take another 3 to 4 years.
It is stronger and more flexible than many of its competitors.
If the market thinks a company will make 5 billion profit and it comes in at 4 billion to some they think that's a good result but the market has priced in 5 billion hence the price falls on what some view as a good result... simples really...
The share price was already low. The market expected worse losses than reported. So the sp was over sold.
The sp rose on the basis the results mean the business is valued more highly. It can work both ways, increased profits or decreased losses.
It would appear that the results are not as bad as the market thought they would be.. this often leads to a positive for the SP...
Its the norm if a company makes good profits sp down .Reporting losses sp up
ironknut, yes it is baffling and it has happened before. I know not why either but come tomorrow, reality will kick in and the SP will start coming down.
The sp goes up after these results. Someone please tell me why ?
Let him have his 3-year plan to prove himself and then evaluate Abrdn progress
Stephen Bird's "Turnaround Strategy" is not delivering, results at Man Group this morning shows what can be achieved with the right CEO and the right strategy. Time for Stephen Bird to leave?
Not as good as emg who seem to have had a great year.
Look poor to me - they seem to be worse at investing than I am !!!
I guess 9% rise in share price tomorrow.
I can't tell anymore, I've watched mediocre results send the share price through the roof and decent results crash the price, as long as they keep paying a dividend I'm fairly happy, but glad that the shareprice is now somewhat closer to what I paid and averaged down on.
Will it go up or will it go down?
Banco Santander SA is among a number of parties interested in a private equity unit of abrdn PLC, Sky News reported on Friday.
The unit, which manages investments in private equity funds, could be valued at around GBP250 million, Sky News said. The unit manages around GBP14 billion worth of private equity assets.
what just happened went from 213 to 218?
As long as they dont go bust and keep paying a decent divi the price can stay as low as it like, I am reinvesting my divi till i retire in 6 years so the lower the price the more shares i get
Praying the Abdn results on 28th Feb are decent and the share price keeps climbing.
I bought £750 at 153p. I bought £600 more at 211p yesterday. Wont be buying more but will possibly reinvest divi
