I know I have views from others posted on this site who may disagree with me (I will never have any problem with that) and unless others are reading your post in other ways, I think you might be wrong on your post. “Aberdeen” and “abrdn” are not two separate FTSE‑listed companies. There is only one FTSE‑quoted entity and that is abrdn plc. and their ticker is ABDN. So if you own ABDN, you own shares in the company that used to be called Aberdeen Asset Management. There is no second company called “Aberdeen” trading separately. So as far as the FTSE indices are concerned, there is only one company and it is abrdn plc. No doubt I will receive other views and interpretations......
