stockplay, the non-appearance of Posts has happened to me as well, and I am sure others, only for them to suddenly appear later. possibly going through an internal check in case it contains anything libellous or offensive. I see your original Post has now appeared. Your comments re Motley Fool are also, I suspect, widely held. They seem notorious in their so-called "recommendations" so the wiser amongst us use their comments as a barometer as to what to buy, not buy, sell etc.
It has also quite rightly been mocked in the Business Press with a great caption featuring Rachel from Cntdn, sorry Countdown. I do wish the BoD would have a re-think.
I'd like to think it would cause similar outrage as the recent ESL fiasco but "Investor-based" and "Power to the Investors" just won't cut it with the general population or media as much as "Fan-based" and "Power to the Fans". So we're probably stuck with it, although I agree with farhantahir.
SLA is solid Championship material and I doubt it will gain promotion to the Premiership in my lifetime. So far as the 400 mark is concerned, it will come as no surprise to you and others on this BB if I reserve judgement!! All continue to stay safe.
Indeed it was coaster although somehow my "handle" is now Tune1. Thank you for remembering. Yes, SLA is a Plodder, has been for many years and, barring some financial miracle, will probably stay so for a while. But I also seem to recall I said it was a "reliable plodder". I stand by that as well. If you are happy to sit back and take the Divis (which I am), then this is the share for you. Thanks again coaster for your recollection and memory, it has made an Old Man happy! I would go and celebrate with a Pint at my Local but sadly it has yet to re-open.
My earlier post keeps disappearing. What I said was: "Artificial dropping of price? Are the sharks circling?". All very innocuous really. Here goes posting it again.
Being artificially forced down? Are the sharks circling?
I was going to add a caveat along your lines in my post. Best not to assume anything in the current climate.
Final Payment Date for Dividend is Tuesday 19 May 2020.
Agree with you Volcano, although not sure which way it may bounce after the results tomorrow. As one of my Fridge Magnets advises: "Keep Calm And Have A Beer"
Welcome scampthedog. I and many other Posters on this Board are the exact opposite of "new on here". I have been in since Day 1 of de-mutualisation all those years ago and like others have witnessed a roller coaster of financial emotions so far as SLA is concerned. I wish I shared your optimism about its position in 2020 post Brexit. We may well see the occasional spike but so far as 450 is concerned, my Jury is out! I have said many times before that SLA is a Plodder but a very reliable Plodder to have in your Portfolio, certainly so far as the Dividends are concerned.
Yes, I too am a little mystified about the drift south, particularly given the Dividend and the Yield nudging north. But I am not unduly concerned. It is getting close to the level when I last bought a wodge back in February. I don't believe the drift has anything directly to do with manipulation but probably more to do with the global economic slowdown, Donald Trump's Trade "War" with China and the uncertainties surrounding Brexit.
".....everyone on great wages ,great pensions and lovely cars on expenses"? How you know that? One angry person. Only rule of any Investment, values go down as well as up. Nuff said.
Like you, I thought it was a strange posting from Love_You, hence I refrained from replying. Given that he/she has nearly 1,00 postings, you would have thought he 'd/she'd know that SLA Share Chat Forum is designed specifically for that purpose. Annuity Calculators are OK as an indication but the advice I would have thought was bleedingly obvious is to get advice from an IFA.
Back to SLA. Could well be a long slow road to recovery. Much going on behind the scenes but I am fairly hopeful it will continue on this path.
Hmmmmm. Not sure I either follow or understand the logic of repeating headlines on what has already been reported today on SLA Live RNS on SLA Share Chat.
Despite the very welcome Final Dividend a couple of days ago, I was always under the impression that the Price of a Share is determined by some Investor's desire to purchase; and other Investors to Sell, and it is the movement in the balance between the thinking between these two types of Investors which are reflected in the SP. So can someone (anyone) explain to me why, just looking in isolation at todays trade in SLA Shares, the SP has dropped by nearly 2% when the number of shares purchased were nearly 900,000 more than those sold. Any thoughts, views, opinions etc.would be welcomed.
Afternoon SUFCESSE.
I wish I had your soothsayer skills, as I am quietly impressed with your predictions. I'm a retired Old Git but did double my Investment in February when SLA Shares were at £2.32. So no complaints from me, especially the Dividend due next month which will more than pay for a "Lads Weekend" away somewhere in Europe. All you need to do now, assuming I'm reading your "handle" correctly, is to direct your sage thoughts to ensuring that Southend Utd avoid the drop in to League 2.
A big "Thank you" to those who have posted and offered what I consider to be plausible interpretations of the above Subject Matter.
Dear kenny100,
You always seem to post in cryptic riddles. Please enlighten us '000s of uncomplicated Investors precisely what you mean by "Divi %"
Many thanks Pokerchips for 3 excellent postings. It sort of brings issues into some sort of focus and perspective as to some of the possible reasons for the drop in SP, as well as where SLA may be heading in the next few weeks and months. The Timetable is particularly useful and it will be interesting to see then how the Dividends will fare. BTW I did purchase what I consider to be a big wedge of SLA Shares yesterday because I think that at its current Price, this was an opportunity not to be missed, despite what is going on behind the scenes. No need for squeaky bums at this juncture!
