Vod must be the stock of choice for the speculators /hedge funds. its a risk free 5% a week raid . What commercial logic is there which allows the FCA and the LSE to tolerate these scalpers creating a false market in the share price ? why are the Pension Funds and Life Saving producers not raising any questions or asking for an investigation into these thieves who are putting serious investment in the Uk at risk?
A bunch of cowboys who are setting certain funds and their own dark pool up for percentage gains. "Hey Mike, I am down on the quarter, fix me a bunch of quick traders mate. I will cover you next time and send you trade orders your by more than 100% of current volume we do business with you at BankofPhuckingAmerica"
The sum of parts of this business is in excess of 100billion if they were to sell the whole lot. Just keep adding at these ridiculous price point. Take it as a free advise from me.
This is a solid business and unique on a global scale.
High in last year is 142.74p so seems ridiculous share price dropped 4.33%. I always wonder if they tell their clients to sell before they put the boot in.
Vodafone (NASDAQ:VOD) is among Friday's biggest losers among Communications stocks, down 6.5%, alongside a downgrade to Neutral at BofA.
There have been "disappointments" in the strategy since the company took a more proactive stance at the halfway mark of its fiscal year, analyst David Wright and team say.
There are still "inorganic options" to boost returns in the UK and Spain, and to "pursue value unlock in Holland and Towers. But none are straightforward, with other interested parties," BofA says.
Meanwhile, Germany needs more than just operational improvement. Execution there has been mixed, and that's led to management changes - but investment is needed (to the tune of €10 billion-plus) to future-proof the network and restore its mobile network positioning against hotter competition.
Energy cost headwinds likely limit EBITDA growth in 2023 to about 2% - and also drag on an unhedged 2024, BofA says. The EBITDA growth target and free cash flow growth targets no longer look achievable, it adds.
Accounting for a German capital-expenditures reboot, it's cutting its price target to 148 pence/share from 188 pence. For the American Depositary Receipts (VOD), that's an $18.51 target (22% upside)
Vodafone falls 7% as BofA downgrades, noting needed Germany fix
csdi, I just had a little flutter of £300 on poly, if i can double my money and cover trading costs i will take it and run, may just as easily lose it all though, A bit strange with psn good results and yet it drops, think it will come good though will be quite happy to hold that one, good thing with Lloyds is they are now paying a dividend while waiting for that elusive 70p can't see it happening this year too much stuff going on, think it will be a year for collecting dividends whilst waiting for recovery
best of luck
Hi Rob
Just got 500 shares in POLY at average cost around 294p.
For me it is a binary bet. Either lose the lot or get 4xbagger ish.
If the divi can be restored in august at some level, then that will really give the SP a boost.
Very much a wait and see. I would be tempted to sell 20% at £4 if it got there in next week or two, on the assumption it would likely fall back, repeating it's behaviour since the huge fall.
I've only got two shares now, with my other being the big divi payer PSN - which is also in the doldrums - but that is expected with any share I purchase.
Must say LLOY was a waste of effort for trading idea, so maybe VOD will come into play for my trading idea in due course.
GL my friend
Cheers - C
csdi, not as much luck as you need with poly lol, only joking put a few quid on it myself, will probably regret it though ?
danielh - " Have you any idea what has caused this big fall in vod?"
A broker downgrade. BoA downgraded them from buy to neutral and reduced the target price from 188p to 148p.
Thanks Mikey, and I'm not taking sides with you or Dan, sometimes i find you both amusing and other times i want to knock your heads together, I did try to point out the share price has been on a big downward slope since 2018, and the ceo and board of directors surely have to take some responsibility for this, that is what they are paid for after all, I can understand why theirs a lack of confidence, hopefully they will make some good decisions to improve the sp, and as they say provide value to shareholders we will see where that goes
have a good bank holiday weekend
A four day week; and start of a new month often sees short term rises.
So I am going for 123p.
GLA vodders - you need it LOL
Cheers - CSDI
Nope as I said in an earlier post I kept 1 share , and I am not excited about it going down - as you know i worked there for 22 years . It was a great company to work for but the current CEO is not suitable to run the company . He has done nothing but increase debt and it is clear the markets have no faith in him . I was proud to work for the company despite what some people may think but even employees should be allowed to vent their anger at the management . There are some amazing people working for the company and all Read is doing is running it into the ground . I dont have a crystal ball and dont know who would be better at the job but there must be plenty of people out there that are and value shareholders ( even my 1 share ) - until Read goes or a major deal goes through to reduce at least some of the debt this share is going no where fast .
sotonspike. I hope you enjoy your holiday. It might be the last one you can afford at this rate. Have you any idea what has caused this big fall in vod? I would make a general enquiry on here, but all I will get is the usual sack Nick Read, knee jerk nonsense. But if anybody on here can give an intelligent, constructive, opinion that would be helpful. Worrying times?
So mikey you say you have sold all your shares and you seem to be getting excited about the prospect of it dropping right down, it does all seem a bit strange
just had a look at the states OMG take cover come Tuesday morning.....
just spent all my funds on the holiday.....but yes a great buying opportunity......
Wow - carnage in the states - things are getting very dodgy . Looks like sub £1.10 is a real possibility again . Still Read knows what hes doing ??????????
Hi Soton, was only joking about your sp curse lol, hope you have a good holiday and you get your 130 when you return, but should it go the other way, maybe topping up territory instead :-)
The pariah hasn't gone on his hols yet so.....next week dare i say a rise to 130.....i'm so sorry for my awful predictions but am only human.....Dan Mikey agree to disagree Dan the more you bite the more Mikey will push....have to admit some of his posts are funny as some of your replies are quite humorous....c'mon vodders
Vodafone needs to sell everything.
Australia, India, vantage towers, spain italy portugal
Next week close I think down further to 118.5p
I think NR is doing a fab job.
However I’m not an expert on him or Vodafone.
I’m holding on to dividends as long as they come in -
I’m happy. And my view is that high inflation will reduce the apparent debt levels as the inflation will reduce the size of the debt even 8% this year, maybe 5% next year. So the high debt was a masterpiece from the inflation perspective!
However I am not a Vodafone expert so could be wrong. But that is my view and I think the ceo is a very good man for the job. Vodafone does not need “deal making” as the media claims
1.18 next Friday
Hi robleo. Just reading your very interesting post about Nick Read, Many on here have said he should go. You mention his handsome salary & bonuses, but I would suggest than anyone who replaced him promising they would do a better job would require an even higher salary & bonuses. So when they don't deliver we just sack them & get someone even more expensive. If you wan't top quality management these days, I am afraid you have to pay it. & even then you might not get it.
scratch49 of course the more the merrier, noted and good luck :-)
