Tesla, in some ways I don't disagree with you. However, I believe the productionistas vastly underestimate the long term risks and only see a smooth and simple path to the sunlit uplands. I'm afraid I don't see any investment in those terms, least of all a small explorer.
From AFR:
"The owner of the tenements that surround SolGold, Gina Rinehart, would not doubt be interested if Newcrest's stake came on the market."
No better speculation than anything ever posted on this board.
Orthern...I'm not desperate, except to see how, recently, every time we show some signs of recovery, the ALGOs take us down...today in strength since 9.00
May I repeat...one guys comments on LSE would not have the slightest effect on the SP...
You can call it ramping and yes I do have a very committed position, but I'm certainly not desperate. We have £100sk invetsed in opther stocks and Gilts.
But I'm certain that a bis is coming...its the only thing that makes sense...and soon...
As always, the SOLG management have sadly underestimated the timne it takes to do mundane but mandatory tasks.
I expect the merger to complete this week and then the real market can start.
Best wishes and respect for your right to an opinion.
As a footnoe: whatever Necrest decide to do as a rsponse to a wanted or unwanted approach, they or their suitor will have to ultimately decide what to do with their stake in a Tier 1 Copper/Gold prospect...
So why not a poison pill...? Disruption is the name of the game in 21st century business...
But as the Colonel implies, this could well kick off the long overdue M&A fest in mining...and the Juniors look as undervalued as they have in a very long time...
Jerry, now that is interesting! Thanks. Btw, congrats on your long-time prediction that NCM would fall victim to a takeover.
AFR reporting that NCs stake in solgold might go to Gina.
Addicknt
Of course no one wants to lose money on their investment/s, however there is a difference to being realistic and clutching at every straw to justify their investment.
It seems to me red knight is just gambling/hoping his investment pays off and using this forum to promote his over zealous gambling imo.
You can’t tell me that red knight had not seen the article in thisismoney yesterday but tried to spin it to were off in his earlier post. Perhaps he can’t see that’s just blatant out and out ramping but I think the reality is he knows what he is doing but as some posted earlier he is getting desperate !
Quady gets slaughtered because he believes this will get taken to production and because some posters want a quick return in their investment they attack his posts, when in reality his research stands up better than most to scrutinisation.
Amazing the mining minister has said Solgold is going to production and people on here ignoring facts and evidence again and talking rubbish.
As usual Redknight ( chief rubbish talker ) is saying a bid is going to happen soon.
Why on earth can't this chatroom be talking about Solgold and how we are going to achieve funding and production instead of a fantasy bid.
Let's see if our so called experts on here really know what they are talking about and put forward scenarios for finance with minimal dilution as that is what Solgold have promised us many times.
Tesla, it seems to me there's a difference between 'wanting' a return on their investment and 'needing' one. I rather suspect most people on here are in the first category and who doesn't 'want' a return?
Turning your hypothesis on its head, the idea of waiting another six/seven/eight years is not in the least bit appealing for most private investors and, I would wager, quite a few of our institutional investors. The risk of failure in pursuing this to production is very high. There are many obstacles for a small explorer, not least of which is our inexperience, particularly for such a large undertaking.
So, whilst you may deride those who want to see us cashing-in on our excellent discovery, it's very easy to see the flaws in your wish to attempt to take it to production.
Agreed Tesla, even the market feels that way looking at this mornings action on price... you'd think if there was any faint hope of a connection and following all the headlines over the weekend the price would react positively, Luckily my average is south of the current price so am still happy to hold but reality now is that the big boys in the arena are starting to flex their muscles to show who is top dog... this will go but we will all be a fair few years older when it does I fear.
Have a great week all
If BHP were to buy Newcrest, then it would move them to around 20% stake in SOLG. That might affect how other interested parties think about bidding and clearly strengthens BHP's position after being pegged back over last few months due to equity issues and merger dilution. Small details and certainly not crucial to NCM bid (I think most savvy folk would know that) but it can change the dynamics. For instance, NCM and BHP appear to have voted together in the past. What if FMG took NCM over and then suddenly BHP have even fewer friends where SOLG are concerned.
The main point to take from the NCM buyout talks is M&A is alive again. OZ minerals last year... NCM this year and possibly big shift coming across all mid to larger size miners as they seek to replenish reserves and please shareholders through strong profit growth and divi's.
If you are looking to sell a Tier 1 asset then you want the market backdrop to be one of buoyant M&A...
No it doesn’t, it makes zero difference and potentially more likely, if NCM are bought out, their stake will be sold off.
There will be no bid for SOLG based on the current environment.
Nothing has changed apart from a merger which would not have deterred any genuine interested party in Solg anyway.
The bid story is made up and perpetuated by investors who need a return on their investment, simple as that.
Red, Your starting to sound incredibly desperate… constantly reaching for any link, to justify your endless hype of our imminent buyout.. you used to post rational posts, but it’s Is just constant clear ramping these days… I really hope you are not in too deep here..
Red, the idea that Sandeep or the stand-in CEO will launch a bid for SOLG as some form of takeover defence is absurd. People would think they'd lost their marbles.
But it increases the likelihood it could be sold...or even that Newcrest could bid for SOLG....?
Poison pill defence...?
Somebody got tired of waiting...? Used the move to lighten up...?
150k sold at 16.40...could be sorry even before the end of today...
I’ve said for a couple of years Newcrest would be bought out before us… and I agree with Sharket.. Newcrests position in Solgold will not be any significant factor in the deal..
Looks like we're on the move...but for how long...?
The Newcrest factor? Or something else?
This could be the big week...merger done...first bid...fingers on the button...
Will BHP, put a bid in a counter bid?
Let's get him onboard before the transfer window closes! ;-)
I wonder who does the sweeping up around here? Quite a lot of rubbish been cleaned up , the board is squeaky clean. Some tosh been posted here this weekend.
Have a great week all.
If anything kicks off at Solgold this I will be shocked to say the least. Its a sleeping dog , always will be until the low ball takeout.
How could anyone be seriously confident about anything here? They don't even fekin update us.
Answer that with conviction and honesty.
I'm sorry but the 10% interest in Solgold (worth about £40m) will not be a serious consideration of a major miner looking to spend £20bn on swallowing up a competitor.
