Looks like we might have a good day
tiger, you are right, but it's not the only reason.
Bubble, I think the Cornerstone merger being a done deal has removed some uncertainnty which is reflected in an improvement in the sentiment now.
This will be in the 20's soon.
I owe novice a big hug for inadvertently helping to increase my wealth as it was he whom brought my attention to solg. Every cloud has a silver lining.
:)
18.5 paid
SM, most of my mates are now retired, including those I knew at Braemar. In later life I acted as an advisor to a friend who was looking to take-over Braemar. Ultimately the transaction was binned, which at the time was the right decision. Managing shipbrokers is like herding cats.
There's still big money to be made - in fact far more than in my day, which is one of the reasons I left to join a merchant bank, which I regretted.
The general feeling in the industry is that things have never been quite the same since the Baltic was blown up and floor trading disappeared - although I imagine the younger people may disagree.
Btw, I actually got a b**locking once from my boss for getting back from lunch too early (2:30) I didn't need telling more than once.
Sorry folks, for the off-topic reminiscing.
Rednight - I too was a LSE individual member - miss the silver badge
Hold her steady Captain
Tiger, morning a few of us still here good luck my friend lets hope its soon
I became a Member of the London Stock Exchange by exam when individual Membership still existed, pre Big Bang...
My initiation was to be debagged on the LSE floor...lucky it was a quiet day...
I miss those days of face to face broking...but the old system couldn't have remotel;y coped with today's volumes...
For those who think I post rubbish...
"Oversold...?10 Feb 2023 12:06
Apart from the blip down to 12.95 (bounced from there to 21 in 6 trading days), the 14 day RSI is now as low as its been since 9 May 2022 (bounced from 25 to 36 in just over a month)...
Massively oversold IMO. "
Price was then 14.34...
add, I was out with a few brokers from Braemar... Honestly the stories they tell of "work" and client lunches/dinners are priceless, one of the last few industries where it still really is like the wild west. I have toyed with the idea of getting in to it myself but would have to take a substantial paycut whilst I learnt the trade and can't bring myself to take that plunge!
Bubble/Eish, I too have been here since the first hole, 2013 from memory, after a bit of selling and buying over the years have ended up with 40,000 with a break even of 21p, so keeping my fingers crossed that my faith will finally be rewarded in the not-too-distant future !
does anyone know if there is a stream of Scotts presentation?
SM, shipbrokers? I was one of those and was a member of the Baltic. I made some lifelong friends from the industry and we meet three or four times a year for lunch. To say 'professional drinkers' is to seriously underestimate matters! It felt as if I was paid to lunch. I loved my experience and have regretted leaving ever since.
I'd love to know who your friends are, chances are I'll know them.
Absolute circus in here today. Someone pass the popcorn!
Sp rising strongly... PDAC presentation coming up soon. Shorters worried what Scott might be lining up to say??
Officemanager ,correct filter it deal with it
Well said Red …… I took your advice about filtering a certain poster a while ago now and haven’t been drawn into any petty squabbles recently …. Sometimes it’s good to scrape it off your shoe .
In the meantime the price is seemingly make a long overdue and most welcome recovery
Eish morning yes let's hope it's soon
Its always good to hear from you Novice...you brighten my day...
55p by Friday...?
But which Friday...?
You give as good as you get SM ;-)
Not me. I've made good friends through SOLG...
You don't see me on other Boards and you won't..
The idea is to invest as below and then enjoy our retirement after God gave me a second chance.
ToS, thank you, and my apologies for calling you a tart. I was a bit put out as I think your posts on here are generally on money. I am nursing a very sore head this morning after a long lunch with some friends who work in the shipbroking industry. Those guys are essentially professional drinkers as far as I can tell.
Like you Bubble, I have also been here many years. Hope to conclude soon?
So which comes first? The Strategic Review and then the Bid? Or will it be a bid for the whole bang shooty?
Would be nice to have the SR out soon, to know what the new board is thinking/planning?
Sharket.... just checked, you are indeed correct. It was actually a poster called Sh4reInvest who made the post, on 24/02 at 12:02. You have my sincere apologies, I’ve recommended you post as I can’t now delete my original false accusation. Sorry.
