Interesting conversation between Whyte and Topol on the topic of '2nd anniversary of covid-19' taking a retrospective view of how the US have fared. I was hoping they'd at least discuss therapeutics. Not much optimism though.

His heart condition and the long time drink and drug abuse probably did not help either.
But he lived his life the way he wanted to which is more than most can say.
Significant FOMO setting in this afternoon?
Weekend, over the, out of this, want to be, wouldn’t, you
;)
Just read that Meatloaf died of Covid..................RIP.
Fair point. That approach worked well for Steve Jobs. Who am I to challenge it ?
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
Steve Jobs. Stanford Commencement Speech 2005.
It's going to be a long weekend...LOL!
Manic Monday round 2..............
IMHO... Price being held here nearly all trades are AT... If we get
some change in trading 3pm onwards then positions are being
finalised possibly....!!
Oh, one must always look backward. That's how one knows which way forward is.

Knighthoods were handed out to the lead administrators of those trials. Mistakes were made everywhere. Governments were wrongfooted by the severity of the pandemic, and did not have the strategies or resources in place to address it.
It is probably best to look forward at this point. A successful outcome to the Synairgen Sprinter trial will result in the World being far better prepared should anything like this happen in the future.
Regards and good wishes.
Recovery trial
Asprin
Azithromycin
Colchicine
Convalescent Plasma
lopinavir- ritonavir
hydroxychloroquine
So many wasted trial resources in time and patients
Agree totally Ghia.
I think where our government got it wrong was they failed to target their funding & resources on what worked.
Dexa was a great achievement but after that they funded trials that consumed the available candidate pool to trial drugs that those without medical degrees could see had a very low chance of working, they didn’t cull these trials quick enough.
After SNG’s P2 result it is criminal that resources got deflected away from rapidly accelerating a P3 trial.
It was at this point in time that RM and co seemed to give up on the U.K. and focused solely on the USA which was a wise move but at the same time I think all involved are saddened that that had to be the case.
Matterhorn, there is no denying that the UK govt efforts did help pull timelines forward. But, in the context of the support offered by the US, and thinking about how much quicker sprinter recruitment could’ve been with some state backing, all the while being literally the first in the world to approve and hoover up some magic pills, there is no denying that the UK government strategy with regard to home grown therapies seems at best haphazard and at worst, corrupt.
You’re right, it’s not about politics, and given we are on the eve of greatness, I consider it all water under the bridge. But the UK government should be ashamed that money wasted on ridiculous preorders for largely unproven and not peer reviewed treatments, on top of billions on unfit PPE, tests etc etc, could’ve been better spent turbocharging trials of a promising life saving treatment.
Without the UK government, we wouldn’t be where we are now. But, with actual earnest support, we could’ve been much further along the track IMO.
Thank you for that correction Matterhorn. I have benefited from the stream of information that you have relentlessly quoted on this board, and you are correct on this occasion.
Despite this initial “contribution”, the Government’s advisors have failed to identify the subsequent benefit that Synairgen could well have provided. I view their initial “support” as a rubber stamping exercise, nothing else. Had they been more sincere in their support, they might have followed subsequent developments more closely, and provided further assistance ?
I am essentially apolitical nowadays. Like you, I would be happy if Synairgen’s future success were steered clear of the current political minefield.
Regards and good wishes.
Bang on Doc!
TLWilliams. - your statement that Synairgen did not receive any assistance from the UK is just wrong. I suggest you review the events starting early 2020.
Prompt approval and commencement of our trials were extremely valuable inputs. If for example the phase II trial started a month later we would not have been as far progressed as we are now. We probably would’ve looked at H2 2022 for trial completion.
Let’s give credit where it’s due irrespective of whether you support the government or not. Could more have been done yes maybe, but I’m very happy that we have not invited the world of politics into our company’s potential success.
When this lands they will do a "who is SSH across many media platforms" and boy will there be plenty to tell.
Even still, 'a cure for covid' is a hell of a news story.
Absolutely, and I think the sheer gravitas which Sir Stephen Holgate projects, coupled with the professionalism of the whole Synairgen team (as demonstrated through RMs calm and authoritative interviews and the new website and marketing info etc), will really give people belief in the true potential of this product.
Very true wigster
Possibly, Kevinl1977...if they're sober for long enough to get the words out.
Why all this talk of JVT?
Our main market will be the USA, initially.
Once this process begins, does anyone think that our own Government won’t be starting to ask a few questions?
I agree Matml74 (should really have replaced the word "maybe" in my last paragraph with "I think"). Bonus being that the US's orders are likely to be a lot higher too.
Took the words right out of my mouth Matml.
Indulging in a bit for fantasy, it would be lovely if BJ got the sack over the weekend and results dropped on Monday.
My only worry about SNGs press release getting gazumped by events would be a Russian invasion of Ukraine on the same day. Even still, 'a cure for covid' is a hell of a news story.
None of the Government’s advisors have offered their endorsement to Synairgen. They have not assisted with the company’s significant growth and development over the last eighteen months or so. In my opinion, some of their by now well-rewarded advisory team have probably hindered our development?
Consequently, they cannot reasonably be identified with any future success if and when it arrives. I have no doubt that a senior Government representative will be on hand should the Sprinter Phase III results justify my current substantiated optimism.
Elsol’s theory is plausible. The opportunity is there. Whether JVT, despite his significant contribution on providing essential information during the Pandemic, ought to be linked to Synairgen’s success is questionable?
Wigster, What happens in the UK on Monday with respect to Boris is irrelevant IMO. The good ol' US of A is where this drug will be heading. It's what the new website, recruitment and the words in all the recent rns's have indicated. As Doc says. This news will be global. The PR machine will focus on the US media. Front page of the NY times will mean more than any mention on the BBC or UK media.
Hey guys I'm just wondering, how many of you would list "arguing with other people on here" as your main hobby?
