Scotland has just qualified for the Euros, so we need to reopen the pubs.
Govt enthusiasm is based on 2 things, publicvhealth and the economy. Hanc0ck has said on more than 1 occasion the only way out of this is a vaccine with little mention of therapeutics. There has been some BB discussion on the cost of SNG being more expensive than a vaccine or dexamethasone. But if the vaccine is only 50% effective and takes six months to issue to the 50%ish that might take it govt's will need to spend money on treatments. And,yes, SNG will be more expensive than Dexamethasone but it's only suitable for the more seriously unwell and they'll be costing the NHS (and other national health systems elsewhere) more than a course of treatment which could be taken at home. And this would go a long way to addressing govt's economic concern when they all spending billions in various support packages
I am with many in that I won't be rushing out to get the vaccine. Too many see it as the answer whereas no-one knows how long it will give immunity for. There is data showing that people who have had quite severe Covid 19 had antibodies which did not last more than 12 weeks. So what is the answer - people having to have boosters every 3 months or so? Let's say the vaccine gives you immunity for double this, that's 2 doses a year. Do people believe the general healthy population are going to bother to get immunized twice a year? In which case the popularity of the vaccine will reduce over time unless the Govt makes it compulsory. I really think that once more data is released people will be far less enthusiastic about a vaccine than the Govt is..
15 years of testing shows for sure that SNG001 is safe. SO why the delay? Lets get it out there saving lives.
Phil. I was only sharing the discussion that I was having with a pharmacist friend. You will note in all my posts that I do not post medical data because I do not have a medical background.
My background is in private client broking .

PhilGekko - Viagra isn't an urban legend:
Scientists at the pharmaceutical company Pfizer discovered the powers of Viagra (sildenafil citrate) by accident in the early Nineties during trials of a potential new angina drug named UK-92480
This is called an opportunity Risk which can occur during research projects - viagra is the perfect example of this! QED.
COVID has also realised opportunity risks for other companies, e.g. Amazon, tech companies, On-line retailing/shopping, although I doubt many had listed pandemics as such for their risks in online/technology investment cases. LOL
Or look at it another way. How can you eradicate a virus that has an incubation period longer than the common cold.? And it’s peak viral shedding is just before at the onset of first symptoms. Not going to happen.
Comparing vaccines to SNG or any therapeutic is a moot point really. Both vaccine and cure are desperately needed. Having an effective vaccine will not mean we won’t need SNG. A vaccines efficacy if we are very lucky will be 50-60%. Like the current flu jabs which are created from egg culture the efficacy over the last ten years ranges from around 20%-50% per any flu season. Certain cohorts will not be eligible for the vaccine. Certain elder groups and babies under six months can’t be given the flu jab. The team at Synairgen know this and know they will have a huge role to play in the battle against the virus for years to come. This virus is too contagious and hides itself too well for it to peter out I’m afraid. It will be with us for the foreseeable.
Woodstock1970... there is a famous urban legend in the pharma industry that Viagra was meant to be a cardiovascular drug but during clinical trials it transpired that it had different clinical properties and addressing unmet needs... again, that's just a story, not sure if true
I started watching the ‘hot Zone’ not a babe station production but based somewhat on the Robert Preston book about Ebola Virus (which I read years ago and is a great book) and how a form of it ended up in Reston, Virginia at a monkey processing facility. Prophetically it ended up summarising that the Earths biggest pathogens are humans. The Earths immune system is protecting itself by unleashing these viruses when humans destroy and disturb creatures habitats, particularly the prime hosts such as bats etc. Trying to look at the bigger picture it strikes me that COVID-19 is just one of a number of viruses that has hit us as a result of mans greed. If we carry on down that road then more viruses, respiratory and otherwise will emerge from the less explored corners of the world. Applying this to SNG I believe means, sadly, that it may be required into the foreseeable future, not just to tackle COVID-19. We do really need to change course though don’t we.
Synairgen have been working on Sng001 for years and years. It was by pure luck that the Copd research treatment has worked with great success on coronavirus patients.
I was talking with a pharmacy friend recently. She explained that it's sometimes the case that by chance that a medication can be proved to work on different health conditions with great success.
From what I remember Sng have spent 15 years developing Copd treatments.
. Almost everyday we are fed conflicting information. Imop todays news is incredilous, second hand and mildly distracting.
Good afternoon guys.
Antofelli
Just to set your mind at rest, SNG are about to make 100,000 Treatments available not doses. I think this adds up to 1.2m doses per month from January 2021
I think it’s risky testing the vaccine on our much loved and needed NHS staff, albeit with good intent. My concern about the vaccine is that something that primes your immune system can make you more susceptible to long covid. You could need sng001 to recover from the vaccine.
Reread wedme’s posts for studies and source material on the vaccine and long covid.
One of my girlfriends is in the media a lot. I am not keen on the bloke, but I do agree with Dominic Cumming when he says the news is diap.
Lots of good points made.
I hope l will be given a bit of slack for pondering out loud if it might assist fellow investors like myself who don’t have a medical background.
My question is this -
‘ It has been proven & widely reported that people get this virus more than once. The second infection seemingly equal or more severe.
So the body has been given the full force of the virus and does not produce a lasting effective immunity response.
So just how effective is the bodies lasting response actually going to be given a vaccine is primarily a much weakened dose of the virus when the full blown thing can’t successfully ‘educate’ the body weeks or months down the line ?
10 to 15 years to develop vaccine. One developed in last 10 months ?????. No thanks, I will wait at back of the queue.
I think anyone anxious about the impact that vaccine developments might have on the share price should bear in mind that the market cap of Synairgen will be roughly £350 million once all the new shares are listed. That is very modest for a company in possession of a drug with the prospects and potential of SNG001.
There will be no full proof Vaccine that wipes out this particular VIRUS, just a Jab that reduces the effect of the VIRUS if one indeed is successful. This cannot be wiped out so treatments will run hand in hand with whatever is produced. This is not about people being anti VACCINE, this is about people being realistic under current conditions band how this is going to paly out.
I agree Doc hat millions are saved by vaccination. There was no implication by me that these deaths occurred in people taking a vaccine or not. Not sure why you would think that.
It is just a simple fact. Vaccine or not, treatment’s are needed for all of those who can’t (either by choice or personal circumstance) have access to a vaccine.
I was out in Saudi Arabia when the Gulf war started back in 1990. We were all given tablets from Porton Down to protect against gas attack though most of us didn't take them. Years later there was a illness called Gulf War syndrone where totally healthy people were incapacitated. The belief was that the tablets were the cause.
I for one will not be taking the vaccine. I just do not trust this whereas interferon Beta is very safe.
WHO reported that between 300,000 and 790,000 people died of flu in 2019. Surprise, surprise a flu vaccine exists!...... There will always be a need for treatment.
If this drug gets through phase 3 trials there is going to be a market for it worldwide for many years to come. It is that simple!
There may be some short term effect on the share price from uninformed investors - bizarre though when nobody can claim they didn’t know a vaccine was coming??? When the first results of the SNG phase 3 are shared this will prove to the world what we believe already- this is a very important treatment that will save many many lives.
Btw, for anyone surprised about the vaccine fast track for distribution, the legislation also includes covid TREATMENTS, so we could benefit from speed if we can get some initial p3 results before the end of the year. The legislation Was clearly intended for vaccines, but at some point “treatments” were deliberately added, something changed IMHO. It is louder in the consultation outcome than the initial consultation paper.
Let’s bring some facts back into the Sunday debate!

Docdaneeka......
You don't "know" anything....Like every other poster here you have an opinion..
You do not know the FDA will approve the AZN vaccine, you do not know it will pass P3....
Everything relating to vaccines is still unknown at this stage....Anyone who questions
vaccines you attack as an anti-vaxxer. No vaccine for a Corona virus has ever been found...
and therefore it is reasonable to question if one that is truly effective and gives
a reasonable length of protection will emerge from the many world wide trials underway...
The participents on the AZN trial are living in a world where we are mostly taking protective
measures, wearing masks, socially distancing, not socialising, using sanitiser many times a day..
That must be a concern for those evaluating the results.............! There is nothing wrong with a robust
debate on vaccines...We all hope there will be one, but foolish to assume that it is a certainty....
Thanks doc. , but as an investment case for now , I’m not sure the market will look at it very positively imo ! As a investor I hope I’m wrong though!! Gla !!!
