Rich....I don't like seeing the cases up in US....I live in NY!!!
I long suspected that the Pharma world was driven by networks / friends and the last 4 months have reinforced that.....Moderna, Hydroxychloride, etc.
I have a slight worry that if results are good then the team doesn't have the business acumen to fully take advantage of the opportunity. Hence why I am hoping for a partnership with big Pharma that will open doors.
First step though...positive trial results
The world has changed and DOW is not en vogue now as its biased towards value / cyclicals... Boeing, Chevron, CAT etc. and not growth stocks.
Dow down today but Nasdaq hits another 52 week high. Take a look at China...it's on fire as government is talking up the markets. The world has been shaken up this year.
Seems like it has been the longest two months in this waiting for trial results.
JBER moved off the sell at 38p and created a bit of free movement. They are still sat there at 39p though so it maybe no big deal and volume was low too. About 860,000 at close. Probably not the second coming but always nice to see a blue finish.
Whatever is happening with the short term price here, whether now starting to rise back again, or not, it's good (for the company not the world) that America is doing so badly with the virus. That'd be the biggest/richest market and can only help increase the potential value here if the results come up good.
And regardless of Florida or Texas the US has just recorded its highest ever figure for new cases per day.
eva1989 - I'm sure that's some of it too, but America is hitting record levels of daily new cases, and is no small part of things (and related things like big companies Walgreens posting big losses due to virus).
Main markets being battered as the virus fears are setting in again. Should renew interest here from those thinking (wrongly) it had gone away. FTSE down all the way to 6000 nearly.
Bebeto - big congratulations on your success with GGP. One that got away for me...... Did have quite a decent position at one stage ho hum.
Price is looking it's strongest today now.
Eva ,
If I have learnt anything in biotechs , it's to be contrarien :-)
If the Sp rises too much before readouts ... beware because it's usually to let some big guys out :-)
Here that is not really the case so I am more optimistic than usual as the sp could be going down to get some guys in :-)
But I don't like the lack of COPD results TBH
Will have to wait and see
I beg to differ, I bought into GGP after a 500% rise and under 3yrs later I'm very close to 2K% up, I've top sliced and now mortgage free, best tip on a forum ever for me.! I don't believe in investing lots of shares just a select few with massive potential just like SNG.
I'm not saying it's impossible to learn from forums...having said that, people will be misled by a lot of stuff on the forums, at least for the first 3 or 4 years of reading them, until they've seen it all before so many times, and are slightly wiser to all that's posted.
I'm also not saying people will be actively misleading you all the time (though a proportion definitely will be). However there's a massive amount of group think and many people are influenced by what they perceive to be the consensus view on a messageboard.
If I was advising a friend thinking of investing, I'd tell them to avoid AIM like the plague, and invest real money on the main markets instead, for at least the first few years, whilst at the same time investing with a dummy account for no money on AIM, for a few years at the very least, whilst they watch/learn from all the trading/RNSs, and see the results of messageboard chatter over and over. In most cases - I suspect that would save people a lot of money - unless they happened to get very lucky.
The Finncap record start to the year from Funding activities said it all to me.
The II’s have exploited the volatility aided by their broker friends. Biotechs have exploited the crisis to fund years of research .
The PI has been the lamb to slaughter.
I’ve done a reasonable job of navigating the war zone, my timing on this share was dreadful.
This is one of the few shares that’s stands a chance of reaching its end goal which is why I’ve stuck it out.
We are weeks away from readouts that could be transformational, the share price is an unwelcome distraction currently I’m happy to ignore it.
The Merc news was another significant vote of confidence for IFN beta 1a something is brewing.
eva1989 - the lesson from all of that should be to pay no attention to forums ;)
There's also little point comparing the share price of two completely different companies. STX doesn't look remotely interesting to me (a glorified iron supplement). And NFX an ultra-speculative early stage biotech that's not even entered phase I's for its stuff yet. The exact opposite of de-risked.
Simmo222,
Let's agree to disagree , because interferon will work on some people but not on others depending on multiple factors which are not completely explained as yet .
Placebo figures vary enormously in clinical trials which is another factor which should be taken into consideration.
Timing and dosage levels are other factors so
I have learnt to be optimistic but very careful with readouts
And it's staggering numbers when you look at them. Still over 1.5 MILLION people confirmed infected right now in the US.
More Americans have already died in the past few months than American soldiers in World War I, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War combined!
Eva ,
It's always a toss of the coin with biotech readouts imo
Your ´ friend ´ has a more derisked approch to investment which I must say is nearer to my own ....
Take a moderate wager before results and if positive ... average UP , but as usual everyone to their own :-)
America has just set a new record and breached the 60,000 new cases per day mark. Staggering numbers now.
Eva - my two penny worth.....
This major ‘investor’ has its own agenda - remember they’ve acquired at a fraction of the market price - heavily discounted by Link already in a highly leveraged debt purchase.
When the placing took place at 35p you could say it was then at its most speculative - since that time we’ve seen other therapies try and fail - whereas SNG has obtained agreements to vary its trials and even accommodate a first-of-its kind home trial, highly suggestive that safety is not a concern. It’s all down to effectiveness and we’ve all done our research, looking at SNG track record and expertise, together with the seemingly increasing evidence that Interferon B is effective - and we think especially with the method that SNG is dispensed etc etc
So to me I think this is more derisked than when the placing took place a few months ago. And with the background selling has kept the sp depressed - which I feel is a terrific buy-in opportunity with results out very shortly
To be fair it did head rapidly to 50p...so you weren't wrong ;)
It just came back down when people took profit and then Acacia piled on and did the same.
If they've stopped selling for now, then much like at the last stint around 35p, it just takes a little while before the PIs start to gain confidence from the price levelling out, and buying starts pushing it back up, and confidence grows exponentially again.
Chrishar - Who knows the stock market works in mysterious ways.
This is holding well today versus it’s peers/sector. Lots of good gains on the wider market but are they sustainable?
Strange times, Covid is still looming and very much around yet there is a mandate to get the economy functioning at all cost.
I concede this has not done what I expected in the later half of the week but then I’m rarely right on short term movements.
One could argue that SNG is stuck in its own investment bubble and is refusing to burst out ...... yet !!
Ghia, is it too early in the week now to argue that a calm move towards the high 40s is looking bleak? ;)
All this research is pointing in the right direction it's just strange that there is zero appetite from investors. Hey ho. Would rather it this way round than empty sentiment-driven rises.
By my estimations there's only five sessions left before the hospital results some people think it's slightly longer but the results will be in ordinal scale. Ordinal scale is literally putting numbers in predefined boxes to maximize the statistical analysis of data.
Don't know if anyone's posted it here already here but someone elsewhere has spotted Gilead are now rushing to test an inhaled form of remdesivir: https://www.gilead.com/news-and-press/company-statements/gilead-sciences-statement-on-the-initiation-of-clinical-testing-of-an-inhaled-solution-of-remdesivir-for-potential-outpatient-treatment-of-covid19
I think it's borderline impossible that major pharma would not now have seen the impacts interferon beta has been having in combination trials around the world.
The fact they're now putting in "Significant research efforts"..."to deliver remdesivir in an inhaled, nebulized format" imo just shows they're racing to hopefully show they can use their particular drug in tandem with inhaled interferon beta.
Very positive imo.
PS: As always, I would imagine that our scientists are getting it right.
