Squeaky bum time for all concerned !!
Roll on Friday :-)
Capital Fund are down a further 0.1% to 0.67%.
Overall notifiable short positions now at 4.1%.
Capital Fund reduced by 0.12% yesterday.
Overall shorts now @ 4.2%.
Still plenty to play for.
I see shorts still at 4.32% according to shorttracker site so some way to go yet. If the fine amount is manageable, this will be the sfo episode done with and another steep climb. I suspect shorters are still betting on a crippling fine
You may regret that come Friday Paddy. Looking at the size of the short positions and the volumes traded in last few days, I agree with sharefall in that they can't be fully out of their shorts yet. That would imply every trade was pretty much a shorter unwinding. I suspect this will not have the huge rises it would have had due to the delay, but I think will still be a good bit higher by Friday at which point we'll see another big leg up. After that it will stall again, as some take profits and things settle. But assuming no drama in the accounts, things will continue to rise for a while and the shorters won't see these prices again.
And if they can win a few jobs back, ADNOC or some other positive news will start to see this slowly climb towards the multiples some predict as the big boys start to put chunks of this back in their portfolios.
We got short closed on 24se21 and yesterday one declared today or tomorrow that will be game changer.
haha yea i think i remember when you bought. Day before the ADNOC announcement i think. You weren't alone. I bought a load @126 a little bit prior. Was a horrible paper loss at the time as i remember!
I do remember the gloomy days only too well. Big mistake I made was doubling up my holding at 135, a day before the ADNOC news hit. Darn!
Anyway, all good in the end as I topped up again when it went below 100.
I'm pretty sanguine about the retrace from 170 to 157 - people will have bailed expecting the delay to cause a bigger drop. I did too but was reassured by the subsequent rally. This will keep happening until shorts have bought back. Once II's start to buy (after the case is done and dusted) the real action will begin. Just hold and smile....IMO
I wonder if Jonny 2toes bought in today LOL remember him?
yea, bit concerning really. It rocketed up to the 170 then quickly seemed to retreat back to below 160 again. I would've liked the fine announcement to have been today myself. Don't suppose it matters too much really in the longer term & i guess just buy into any dips really! I'm a bit of a cynic really. Have made a load of cash on this one but i remember the gloomy March days when i was underwater for a fair old while. Not pleasant!
Paddy, just they will have dripped shares into the market on the way down, they will gradually buy to take advantage of the profit taking dips. I agree they will be closing. Just think they will do so over a week or two to avoid having to pay more than they need to. All supposition of course. Atb
Realitbites, from what I can remember they have to declare within 72 hours.
Legally required to declare short positions and most sites will show any above 0.5%.
Shorttraker is a reliable site I think.

i'd imagine most shorts got closed today. I really can't see why they would stay on this one now! Again though, that is a concern. Was the rise due to shorts covering & now peeps start taking profits? time will tell i guess. I suppose still some uncertainty about the fine although my belief is that's already been agreed!
Is there a time limit on declaring shorts? As in, within what timeframe after they reduce or increase their short position, must they declare that they have? Was trying to find the info across various sites, but struggling. Most pages just speak about the percentages.
