Now I am very angry because the price is going up. Someone promised me this would go down to £1 and I missed out on buying at 110p. Not happy.
We also wish you had sold at 197p if only so we would not have to read your daily whinging about the price.
Perhaps trading is not for you.
Try to remember that viruses prefer to not be deadly to the host. If they are deadly they eventually run out of hosts and die themselves.
I guess it will take a few weeks to know for sure if individuals in the right age bracket or those with co-morbidity are also experiencing milder symptoms....if so huge sigh of relief for the world.
Stop it please. Sfo finished . capital raised and sp still tanking!!! The is going sub 1£ and im not all with all the lies posted on this board has led me to lose lots of money ... I wish I pulled out at 1.97!!!!
Should also see the funds buying this aggressively as now with PFC securing potential multi billion pound infrastructure bids our future growth appears strong in the current market. Remember the experts said $55 oil not so long ago and the same experts are now saying $100. I personally feel we are in a great place right now.
The story I read was that it developed in a highly immuno suppressed individual. Like an HIV/Aids sufferer not having treatment.
And yet they survived long enough to have loads of mutations and pass on the virus.
So if someone like that survived I assume it is a weak virus not causing serious harm to those that get it. And in fact may create antibodies similar to someone being vaccinated?
Pure conjecture of course. But past experience shows deadly viruses mutate into worse and less harmful versions. And over time become less of a problem as immunity builds in the populace. The phrase Herd immunity comes to mind.
DT this morning...........
Sir John Bell, one of the Government's most senior advisers on vaccines, said the new variant may end up causing no more than "runny noses and headaches" in those who have been vaccinated.
Sir John, the regius professor of medicine at the University of Oxford, said that while the new variant might evade antibodies, it would be less likely to escape T-cells and other parts of the immune system that provide broader protection.
"You could still have a highly infectious virus that scoots around and causes lots of trouble, but causes lots of, you know, runny noses and headaches but doesn't put people into hospital. Honestly, you could live with that, I think," he said.
I increased my stake by 15% yesterday (@ 114). We could be in for further drops, but IMO next 12 month outlook is looking great. Lets hope Covid does not rock the boat too much............
Any one got access to live Uk futures before be investing what they are after that statement
Mail Online:
Professor Sir Andrew Pollard, one of the Oxford scientists behind the AstraZeneca vaccine, today expressed cautious optimism that existing vaccines could be effective at preventing serious disease from the variant.
Sir Andrew today moved to calm fears in Britain, claiming most of the strain's mutations are in similar regions seen in other variants so far.
He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: 'That tells you that despite those mutations existing in other variants the vaccines have continued to prevent serious disease as we've moved through Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta.
'At least from a speculative point of view we have some optimism that the vaccine should still work against a new variant for serious disease but really we need to wait several weeks to have that confirmed.
'It's extremely unlikely that a reboot of a pandemic in a vaccinated population like we saw last year is going to happen.'
Professor Pollard said a new vaccine to combat Omicron could begin 'very rapidly' if required.
'The processes of how one goes about developing a new vaccine are increasingly well-oiled, so if it's needed that is something that could be moved very rapidly.'
Experts however have insisted there is 'no plausible scenario' in which Omicron will take the UK back to 'square one', and called for 'calm heads' despite the halting of flights from southern Africa.
Think that they were talking about dividends at the end of 22 if I'm not mistaken, I'm happy to hold for at least another year at this price.
Probably an overreaction but who knows. Not sure public will put up with further restrictions. Reality is though that oil largely moves on sentiment as much as reality. Yes new COVID variant may have been the trigger but not surprising oil pulled back after such a bull run. The terrible thing for most holders of oil related stocks is how the shares seem to fall a lot more when oil falls than it rises when it rises.
Petrofac has wider issues though than just oil price. It needs to rebuild its order book and reputation after the disaster of the ABAC investigation. That’s a whole different matter, I am pretty pessimistic about them roaring back now that the matter is settled but who knows. No doubt on many metrics PFC is wildly cheap, however don’t forget that this is not the same company it was, can’t see dividends for years even if things improve a lot. So in conclusion, yesterday’s market falls time will tell if overdone, but either way petrofac has huge issues still to remedy.
Disappointing across board but hope the covid issue doesn't take us back to times like Feb 20
Sky News
Novavax said that recent data leads them to believe their current vaccine "is likely to provide protection against new, emerging variants".
Every indication' vaccines work against new variant, says South African scientist
South African scientist Sanne has insisted there is "every indication" that vaccines are still effective in preventing "severe COVID disease" from the B.1.1.529 variant.
It was added that further tests will take place throughout next week.
So there is another variant that seems to have started in Southern Africa and the market has tanked. Anyone else thinking this is a market over reaction? From what I have heard, yes it's a new variant, but this is going to become like a new flu. every time you get it (and survive) and every time you get vaccinated your body gets better at fighting it and getting over it.
Hello all, I’m back in at 110p today :). Hoping for a 4th run up with PFC lol!
