Well, she’s looking more buoyant today and so if this carries on then I won’t be having a moan about any dividend in the short term.
MAFL deserves a much better rating than what is currently being offered by the market.
If one day the market decides to value the company on medium term potential, then I agree with the poster who reckoned it should be trading 50p plus.
Nomlungu, I agree. I am quite sure the government angle is being worked upon actively. Surely they either have to put up their share of the risk and development capital or suffer a dilution?
Might be better to be in a place to pay for any costs associated with getting the remaining 15%of the project from the Portuguese GOV
Highly doubt there will be any dividend here, the aim is capital appreciation. I am of the opinion that JV is able to find better ROR opportunities, than the average investor, so happy for the business to retain the cash and redploy accordingly. Not pay it away to short-term traders, here to make a quick buck.
There is no harm in someone raising the idea of a dividend with JV. I would not object to a dividend but merely express the suspicion that he would rather keep his powder dry and his kitty full (excuse mixed metaphors) for investing and financing which is what this company is about. Whilst capital profits can be paid out as dividends, it is more normal to use income profits and MAFL has little or none of those that I know of.
I agree that many of us have been "long suffering" whilst patiently holding here but it is the market which fails to recognise the value here. JV has stepped up his PR but he will not attract institutional money until MAFL moves from the micro cap category. The upcoming news due over the next 6 months might just change perception, with luck and a following wind. GLA
A dividend would raise company profile as it would appear on many notice boards regarding ex-div date, etc. Sounds like a cheap way to raise profile without marketing costs. Increased investor interest would probably increase the liquidity as vol of shares trades would increase. GLA.
I respectfully disagree Quad.
I don’t want to appear selfish but I have been invested here around five years and in that time MAFL have made tremendous progress and now hold something like 26 investments including LS.
However, I find it difficult to reconcile the fact that in all this time, I have never been above water with this company and still continue to show red despite all the progress.
MAFL have thus far netted around $6 million in hard cash and been given and hold over 2.2 million shares in ASND, with $2.5 million cash still to come by y/e. These figures are for the LS investment only.
To give a small percentage back to the loyal, suffering holders is not a big ask at all and still leaves the company with plenty of cash in relation to its size.
MAFL cannot seem to get the share price anywhere near the NAV to Regis the it’s investments, so how do shareholders benefit here if not by a special dividend now and then.
I would have offered holders 1p/share after the latest $1 mill payment from ASND and promised holders another penny upon receiving the $2.5 million. I wonder how the share price would have reacted then.
I have no issue holding here for another 5 years but as a shareholder I want to see some reward even if that is simply a feel-good factor knowing my investment in this company is well in the blue.
Those questions marks were supposed to be an emoji, should have know that would fail!
*Ideon-type opportunity.
??
Shaz: I know many here feel MAFL should pay a dividend and I have previously commented on this but not recently. It is worth bearing in mind that MAFL is an investment and mining finance company and will undoubtedly IMHO use this extra capital either to invest in its core portfolio or to finance another LS-type opportunity (we know some projects have been looked at). Were it to start receiving dividends from the LS project, that might be a different matter as regards paying out a dividend. But that is inevitably some way off and for now I imagine it is looking to diversify its portfolio and to continue to improve its NAV.
GLA
That’s circa £800k.
I think it’s time the long suffering holders see some of this paid back in the form of a small dividend.
A penny/share and the company will still retain near half a million and with more to come by y/e.
