its effectively a 'unilateral' traffic light system. sadly, IAG are beholden not just to the whim of this government but also every other scaremongering government....!
And until others let us in, and they are also on the 'green 'list IAG will suffer. ...

i disagree, we have a traffic light system when entering the uk whats hard about following that ,the uk dont look at what the recipient countries system is tyou just have to follow the uk traffic light system its not rocket science for f sake , yes im invested but i dont want the virus back like before .
Hi John
I'm not aware that quarantine is necessary on arrival in SA since my mate just landed there last week and didnt have to quarantine, and as far as I am aware, rules haven't changed. Definitely have to quarantine back in the UK unless you are exempt and there are a few exemptions but UK border control are quite vigorous in there approach to this now (and rightly so).
I agree with you that it is likely that the scheduled flights will get cancelled to JNB and if not cancelled at least converted to freighters ...
From my point of view, and from what I can see of many (but not all) others who have posted here today, it is not so much people are reveling in the drop in SP but the shear frustration with BoJo@crap.governance which is leading to too much uncertainty to remain short term. Long term and long termers will i'm sure be fine. i just declared my position so as not to appear hypocritical. I take no joy in the SP dropping (and i'm sure many others feel the same). I really wish it was the other way round. So i sold to protect my position as I may need some of the funds for another project in the near future and certainly didn't sell at the top and didn't sell because I thought it was the top, I only sold as I could only see the SP dropping bc of the headwinds created by this government.
TBF i dont think Labour would have done any better, we just don't have much of a choice when it comes to dumb & dumber...
GL and enjoy the sunshine in the canaries...
"Normality will return but not tomorrow."
Try in all of 2021 and likely 2022, not in 2 days time!! Lmfao.
@sunsurfer. I have two properties in SA, one in Jnb and the other on the coast near Ballito. As I don’t hold a permanent residence visa I would have to quarantine in a hotel at both ends of the trip. Added to this the infection rate in Gauteng is climbing and best kept clear of at least this year. Flights to SA will not commence this month. As you know in normal times an A 380 and two 747’s made the trip to SA everyday and this is a tremendous loss in revenue. Normality will return but not tomorrow.
Just to add I take no notice of the brigade who constantly come on this bb and have the knack of selling at the top and buying at the bottom and feel the need to tell everyone.
@John B
I hope that you are correct but all the signs are as described JTAN & Instabrraq. There are flights to SA, they start on the 25th June to JNB. I have a house in Cape town and spent the last 5 months there, now back in the uk for 4 weeks but keen to get back there but whilst there are currently flights scheduled to SA I'm not convinced they will actually take place and if they do may be converted from pax flights to Freighter flights.... time will tell.
Not sure people are selling out of greed... I, like JTAN would have stayed in but it is bc of uncertainty created by Fcuk wit.gov and co that has meant I have lost confidence that we have a clear path out and it's not (imho) down to just how many people get vaccinated but what type of variants are flying around (excuse the pun). That is why i'm not convinced US/UK travel will happen in July, ...why on earth would Biden risk america's economy by opening up a UK travel corridor potentially letting loose a rampant Delta variant!. If USA were at 90% double vaccinated, maybe they would but cant see it at the moment.
Anyway as a LTH I think you'll be fine, I just sold as I wanted to lock in some profits, not bc I want to jump back in at a lower price. This SP is far too volatile for me to keep risking all my eggs!
but good luck to you and all who remain, I really do hope it climbs and IAG get a speedy recovery...
ps sorry for posting when I said I wouldn't!!!
Concur with the views of Jtan & sold last week due to losing faith in the UK gov travel policy. Too much uncertainty/risk in the travel industry at the moment for me. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Good luck to those still holding, will re-enter should opportunities / circumstances change.
in the Canaries reading doom and gloom mainly from posters who only want an entry level for what will be the inevitable climb in sp once some normality returns. What BJ announces today has little to do with the airlines fortunes. Unfortunately due to this inept government’s handling of securing the borders when required extreme caution will now be employed in opening them up. I am sure in the not too distant future we will see countries being added to the green list when vaccination numbers are considered high enough. On the negative side lucrative BA routes to destinations like Southern Africa will not be up and running this year.
Hopefully for punters with serious money in here (I am one) I am nearly right.
