Re "I would be £100 k up if it wasn’t for hemo and odx" ......
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh the dammed "IF" word....
i agree certain price points have a psychological effect on investors and some ay sell at thos epointsbut to suggest that the MM's want to hold the SP back doesn't make any sense to me.
If you don't think that 200p has any psycholigical context then fair enough.
I happen to think it does and so will 250p and 300p.
The main point of my post was the increase despite no news. Happy to be corrected and appreciate that we all have different opinions.
Enjoy your cake. All the best.
'Psychologically the MMs want to keep this below 200p.' why on earth would they want to do that?
Completely agree.
Psychologically the MMs want to keep this below 200p.
We have already had a substantial rise on a day when news may have been expected. We can each make our own mind up what will happen when it arrives.
A very good day.
Enjoy your cake. All the best.
I would be £100 k up if it wasn’t for hemo and odx
Never mind I’ll take £50 k for starters
Timing is the secret of success. Many may have bought at 22 and sold out too early
expecting another opportunity to buy cheaply. Now we have a proper investment .
AVST workers are share holders who value their investment which months ago was a punt.
Why anyone would have a stop loss on here is beyond me...
Mapp- many here in same boat like you ie avct , gap
Who are clever analysers and wise imo
My GGP investment looks good. I experienced serious tree shakes and
was knocked out. Kept enough but do not have the courage to buy what I sold.
AVCT is less aggressive and moves in a pattern I can cope with. I am in both
shares long term for I cannot cope with trading.
Daves1310 ...
When is GGP news expected?
They will execute them but they can slip massively if the price crashes
It's difficult to judge, like you said, watching paper profits disappear and selling too soon are both awful, I personally like top slice 10%/15% of the holding, just to bank a little profit.
Well done on your profits, everyone should have an exit point unless your strategy is to hold for divs/takeover
In my personal opinion the only thing worse than watching paper profits disappear is selling too soon for it to go up significantly higher (although don’t confuse that with greed)
Expecting to finish on days highs . The odds are better now for news tomorrow seeing as none came this morning. Let’s see ...
Well I moved 30% of my GGP holding over here temporarily to add to what I have already this morning at 1.82. My intention is to buy back the shares I sold but not until next week playing it by ear and likely leaving some profit here if all goes well. So far its working!
Trytosmile,
Selling Stock Is Hard
Many of us have trouble selling a stock, and the reason is rooted in the innate human tendency toward greed.
Here's an all-too-common scenario: You buy shares of stock at $25 with the intention of selling it if it reaches $30. The stock hits $30 and you decide to hold out for a couple of more points. The stock reaches $32 and greed overcomes rationality. Suddenly, the stock price drops back to $29. You tell yourself to just wait until it hits $30 again. This never happens. You finally succumb to frustration and sell at a loss when it hits $23.
Greed and emotion have overcome rational judgment. You've treated the stock market like a slot machine and lost. The loss was $2 a share, but you actually might have made a profit of $7 when the stock hit its high.
These paper losses might be better ignored than agonized over, but it comes down to the investor's reason for selling or not selling.
To remove human nature from the equation in the future, consider using a limit order, which will automatically sell the stock when it reaches your target price (excluding gap-down situations).
You won't even have to watch that stock go up and down. You'll get a notice when your sell order is placed.
Good luck
St
It is a sea of blue on live share trades, so if you are thinking of selling then please do it now so that some of us can get a better bargain.
Enjoy your cake. All the best.
I do know what you mean. I've been in profit so many times but kept them too long and watched the profit disappear. It's a nice feeling taking a profit, but bloody awful watching it drop. I really do though think this has much further to go, good luck on whatever you decide to do.
I am so tempted to take profit on this, a constant internal struggle :)
Don't worry. PL75 will give you a brief run down of the efficient market hypothesis and you will feel better.
I was lucky enough to have 18,400 shares @ 49p. I sold 10,000 for a profit of £18,500. I've never had a profit like that before and my nerves got the better of me. Will let the rest ride, I've no idea what the future may hold, but all looks good. Good luck everyone.
