It was a genuine question. I really don't know the answer as I don't have a crystal ball. I jumped on to the Avacta rollercoaster at £2.33 back in early March (three months ago). I am heavily invested.
The purpose of the question was to gauge other people's opinion .. Bizarrely, I am not 100% confident of my own opinion. I recognise I am not as experienced as others.. and I don't have a crystal ball that works. So I like to hear different/same views with their reasoning. Thank you for your responses.
Some of you have unshakeable confidence (or arrogance?) as to when orders will flow, in dribbles, or a gush, and how many and the chance of more repeat sales, or just as a time filler until the whole country is vaccinated. If after 2 -3 weeks there are still no sales data, then I think I will sell and wait for the inevitable fall.
Yup, I accept that muck. Sadly I’m just psssing in the wind with my common sense that for some reason hasn’t been acted on by the govt. I’ve no idea why they don’t read my posts and act on them immediately. Probably because my posts don’t come with brown envelopes.
Hopefully the arrival of a British test will accompany a fresh start and change in attitude. Perhaps ‘ready, steady, test, go, cook’ or whatever it was will see the light of day again. Or maybe they’ll continue to make an mess of it and we’ll be back in lockdown ready for Xmas. As you’ve said, I can’t see any companies that offer it reducing that behaviour. The costs of providing tests is cheaper than the costs of disruption due to an outbreak. Some will learn the hard way.
Meanwhile, back in the utopia of being fully vaccinated…. https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/celebrity-millennium-cruise-ship-positive-b1863980.html
Don’t disagree with you PL, but in some respects what we think is irrelevant unless the population embrace testing voluntarily, or are forced too. Rightly or wrongly the current perception is “why do I need to test, especially when I’ve been vaxed...what’s in it for me?”, and that’s not helped by press coverage about tests that “should be thrown in the trash”.
It’s business that should lead here. It will be them that suffer most if an infected staff member or customer causes an outbreak. And of course a much better performing test that instils public confidence will help too ....it just needs to be promoted accordingly.
Looking in the mirror more like...
Just for the record….. my mate & his wife have had both jabs….. just recently she has been positive after a test & had to self isolate…. Obviously had did her husband…
Test test test
But don’t forget we learnt just this week that the Gov was considering a free pass to mass events such as major football matches to people who had had double vaccine. Only the non-vaccinated would need an LFT. What fresh hell is this?
I don’t usually comment but just reading a comment about we don’t need tests because of the vaccination wow
I’ve had both jabs and I can say it will never be 100% tests are a thing of the future I’m afraid for a very very long time

Completely disagree. The boat is still there and needed. If we don’t hop on, we’ll all be stranded at shore year in year out. The best way to stop the spread is isolating people that have it. I’ve been saying it for over a year. It’s not difficult. Just test everyone regularly with a 100% sensitive test. The majority haven’t had two jabs, just over half have. The delta variant is now dominant and reduces efficacy. It’s spreading exponentially with the current restrictions and with the reduced efficacy there’ll be a whopping third wave if they’re not very careful.
People are still advised to WFH, life isn’t back to normal, people aren’t mixing, so they’ve no idea how bad it will be and the true level of protection the vaccines offer. It can’t continue forever, lockdowns are the bluntest tool. They’re meant to be used whilst you sort your self out. We need full vaccinations, we’ll need boosters, but we also need to follow in Germany footsteps and have testing stations everywhere and make it part of our lives to stay safe. It’s pathetic that we’re not making progress and that we’re risking progressing further by not doing the obvious. Autumn will be here before you know it and the coughs and colds will start again. It can’t just be left to run wild due to the risk of further mutations and the partial vaccine escape.
Test, test, test…
Interesting discussion ;-)
It looks like another booster will be needed after the first two vaccination shots.
I assume travel will be heavily tested for a long time at both ends and with the slow roll out of vaccines elsewhere sales have not yet missed the boat.
Who knows variant mutations in the next month ?
Hurry up with contracts please GLA x RB

Read the whole thing. It’s so appropriate.

You say "we" so if I were you I'd sell tomorrow. Good luck...

Well they have certainly missed out of alot of revenue.. But i hastily have to say at least they have put everything into this test by cutting no corners.. The EU has a massive sales potential. Imo this test will stand the test of time in the long run as we see alot of other players being forced out of the market in the future. Gold standard =highest s/s and a game changing affimer ip technology..
I take it that you missed the Avacta boat blackcat!
In the long term future, Covid testing won't be required. I remember reading that 50m tests per week were required in the UK. Really?? Now that we are getting to a point where most people in the UK have had two shots, I don't think that demand for testing is required anymore. Getting back to 'normal' has been the result of a successful vaccination program and not a covid test program... I suspect that this is the main reason why we have not seen any sales contracts. Obviously, if the Covid mutates again, then I could see a reason, but currently, all the vaccines work fine (to a fashion) for all Covid mutants. Has Avacta missed the boat Covid testing? Agree/disagree?
