If you guys didnt notice. Argo has a concrete batch plant on premises. This should make the pool repairs a breeze if there is significant damge.
This I see as a good will gesture. Pr stunt. Keep them happy and expansion is easier. Smooth move if you ask me. DJ
@Cametoad
I respect your opinion and viewpoint but im just not so convinced, the facility is already creating local jobs and there seems to be a big tax advantage for them all and increased property prices (I don't understand the tax side of things).
I don't see the other miners that are significantly outperforming argo doing similar. It's OK to be differnt but its also sensible to run with the herd.
Even with the esg side of things thr other miners could easily buy up carbon credits retrospectively and make thier mined coins 'green'.
I'm going to keep looking into the significance of it.. Its differnt if you can only buy 'carbon credit' for the preceeding year as that would make massive amounts of miners hodl toxic and then I would be on board with it 100%.
As for a swimming pool refurb.. If after 11 years the community has not managed to raise funds to fix it then it is either of less worth to them than the applause given or they cannot maintain it when up and running so it's a lost cause. If we are going to be upgrading local facilities lets atleast make them tech infrastructure, digital adoption that sort of thing not swimming pools.

"Quiet period runs to 2 November. Irrespective ot analysis etc. No comms from the company till this date."
Weirdly I would of thought that yesterdays video release sits directly under promotional activity which is supposed to be banned during the quiet period.
I can't see how it was not promotional, even without the video the trip itself is promotional by its nature I. E. Promoting argo to Dickens.
Maybe its because its not released as a RNS and just a YouTube video.
Quiet period runs to 2 November. Irrespective ot analysis etc. No comms from the company till this date.
Quiet period runs until 02 Nov.
Analysts were allowed to publish their recommendations on 18 Oct.
@Chuz: "Seeing how PW and the team are spending shareholder money has actually irritated me quite a bit. One decent rise and I can sell up and move on."
I am a greedy investor/trader, but I know that what he's doing with that video is absolutely vital. I don't think you realise just how critical community event that was. Same for the ESG angle. ESG is even more important. If ESG concerns surface from COP26, you can look forward to BTC literally halving o/n or worse. It could literally kill it outright. Same story if you don't get the community onboard. ARB would literally be destroyed.
Just a quick question - are we still in the quiet period? I thought that had ended as the US analysts released all those BUY recommendations?
It’s called a backhander ffs…. Usually consists of a watch or a nice holiday or a brown envelope. Do people really think Argo could rock up and build something without the town getting something in return??
I heard they were going to use the pool as a source of hydro power to be ESG compliant by utilizing the trio difecta of wind, solar and hydro. Unfortunately, the community will be required to kick constantly to keep the generator going 24 hours a day. :)
And... The SP is down. Yes, not ideal but it was like this a few weeks back. All to do with us being in the quiet period. Once we are out, things will improve. So much positive news to come from this company. People have short memories.
Honestly. Stop moaning for goodness sake.
Mending the pool equals postivie PR and forges an excellent relationship as a business. This is vital in any stakeholder engagement further down the line.
A green mining comoany
A company that cares
Etc etc...
This is positive PR and good for the company. Get a grip and go educate yourselves. Otherwise sell up and invest in teapots.
I enjoyed the video and think it's great the way they give shareholders a clear look into what is going on behind the scenes. Personally think Peter is one of the best CEOs out there and the polar opposite to most of the old boomers in charge of companies on the LSE.
I bet the sue Argo if anyone slips over pool side too haha.
Dick in county shaft shareholders over rights of swimming pools,
lol it’s all becoming 1 big parody…..
Olympic swimming pools diving board etc sure gonna be a hefty cost that shareholders bear.
Yes, create a multi billion institution create insane value and dividends for shareholders and then go on your philanthropy agenda and make them a new town or whatever.
But right now existing shareholders feel like saying to PW ‘any change for a cuppa governor’ ffs
@ richiescott
If my bad humour upset up you ,apologies
Really couldn't care if they built a pool ,school or anything else for the kids of the place.
Alway, good luck everyone , enjoy the ride on argo.
@Richiescott
"Biggest ???? of them all. You think they just uploaded from a phone? Do you even...... I can't even continue mate have a word with yourself."
My posts are bad sometimes but that's not even coherant :) haha
@Mrwhite
"Roll on the decent rise and you can then move on and stop whining on this board."
Yea hopefully soon enough, although I've been relatively quiet the past couple of days.
Biggest ???? of them all. You think they just uploaded from a phone? Do you even...... I can't even continue mate have a word with yourself.
You people are absolute ????s. Seriously take a bloody look at yourselfs. Ffs
Roll on the decent rise and you can then move on and stop whining on this board.
Haha couldnt make it up...
We're all under water & their using shareholders money to mend a swimming pool...
Maybeee PW can put some of our money aside for armbands for us lot :)
The share price was actually recovery a bit across the pond, right up until that video was uploaded and then a nice dramatic tumble.
Seeing how PW and the team are spending shareholder money has actually irritated me quite a bit. One decent rise and I can sell up and move on.
I have stated in the past that the company is not a charity, I was wrong, it looks like it is going that way.
"I mean seriously wtf, that's not how I want shareholder money spent. We are not a community charity, buy some rigs ffs."
Now I'm a bit concerned that after the quiet period the ground breaking rns will be...
"ARGO is pleased to announce we have finished work on the community pool and Billy-Joe, Jim Bob and Chelsea are now learning to swim.
Thankyou to all our great shareholders, without you it couldn't if happened."
Hmm I know it's cynical but what I got from that was PW and team are still out there having a jolly and swanning around. He had now commuted to refurbishing the community pool thsts been out if action since 2009.
I mean seriously wtf, that's not how I want shareholder money spent. We are not a community charity, buy some rigs ffs.
