It is not about known deposits, local rumour abounds though, however the alluvial gravels sit on undulating bedrock, gold will have flowed along gullies or more generally settled in low points in the bed rock, areas of ridges may have no gold at all. However until dirt removed from top and gravels stripped using a systematic approach you will not be able to say, this area will have lots and thus area none. there will be lean times and good times, throughput is the key.
