Thank you Xeno…Sounds encouraging. On we go, would be good to know where the finishing line is, as this one hell of a marathon, but as with my running, I’ll take step by step.
Suzy don’t bite, your input is always welcomed by me.
doormat sounds much better:) thank you:)
the point was mostly to illustrate that the green party no longer have a say in important issues. they are under the 4% voteing req in the polls .
Not a lot of political muscles left for em to use.
Thanks Xeno! ;-)
Xeno. I think doormat is a much closer and more relevant translation. Unless you were joking with us of course.
i also dont see how the goverment wins in saying no? it will only turn into a yes in court. Only the green party wants to say no.
The social demokrats want a mine because it would bring jobs and jobs means more union workers and more union workers means more money to IF metall wich is the very heart of the social demokrat party.
With hybrit and h2green steel expecting to be in productions in 2024 they will need all the iron ore they can get their hand on. esp when EU is targeting the emmisons problems by increasing the price of polluting by almost a factor of 4.

A mine in kallak will happen the question is only when:/
i dont know where to begin but what i can say is that the credability for the goverment is in freefall when it comes to how it handles crime, economic issues, eviroment etc for the last few years but there might be some light from all this mess that has happend and the reforment of the goverment.
There was something called the januari agreement between the four parties, social democrats, center , liberals and green party wich is now no longer valid wich means that the social demokrats have more freedom in decionsmakeings when they dont have to apease the green party. Center party are pushing for a lot of forest rights and the social demokrats have promised to give it to them for letting stefan löven rule again and the green protest but the green have no more power now, they are called dörr matta, floor carpet is a good english translation wich means people walk over them.
Now if the social demokrats are smart they should try to do as much as possible to give people jobs esp in jokkmok wich is one of the poorest places in sweden to try to gain votes. they are falling in the voteing department. Schools are being shut down and elderly homes getting dismantled, imagine working for 40-50 years of your life then get treated like **** when you need help the most. they gotta make jokmokk richer with investments and jobs and not by welfare checks.
I think the best weapon beowulf have in their arsenal now is sven otto littonen. He used to be a politican, also worked with baylan but not in the same party. He knows the process of politics and gave a very good intervju a few weeks ago where he summarized the situation like this.
"H2 Green's plant in Norrbotten will be ready in a few years, where will they get their iron from? should they import it from china? or should we take the iron that is under our feet? It is a very simple decision in principle."
https://www.svt.se/nyheter/lokalt/beowulf-mining-tror-pa-gruvbrytning-i-kallak-trots-unescos-varningar
No one in their right mind would consider the unesco report as some kind of objektiv report based on scientific and logical reasons , its very obvsion just a smoke screen that was summoned by the friends of the green party that work within unesco most probaply. How did they get the report before the goverment or beowulf? it just reeks of foul play.
And you might be right about baylan trying to be sure that it wont be overturned in court and just like sven said in the report if a company fulfills all the requirerments then they should be approved the koncession. Just recently another mining comapny got its liceence aproved but was taken to court because someone complained. the company won in court and their koncession license is now valid. A lot of people in sweden belive its beowulfs turn now to be processed.
And if kurt is willing to pay for a study in how much beowulf expect to extract from the mine then that too could be an indication that it is going in our favor.
Evening.. KallakRediculous, No, It’s not a distraction! KB, looks very much to be making good preparations for any battle re attachments/other, imo..
Kurt Budge- “We are moving forwards with the Mining Study, the outputs of which will enable us to advance discussions on both logistics for Kallak production, and product volumes, specifications and attributes with potential customers.”
Production? Volumes?
Any recommendations from UNESCO was the concern from the outset following the referral.. We got, some “suggestions” in among, the UNESCO BS! We do not want/need any conditions with any award of concession that could result in the Environmental court permitting only, a much lower production/Tonnage level, that what otherwise could have been permitted in the absence of any such conditions.. This all, to address alleged BS concerns of “indirect” impact.. This would make a huge dent in the value of Kallak.. Not much good to us investors having hundreds of millions of tonnes of the very best ore, if it takes a hundred years say, to extract.. SP? Baylan, did not run off to UNESCO, only for them to say something that he didn’t want to work with…This man has his Kallak goal..
When KB gives BEM’s comprehensive comments on UNESCO’s letter, to the minister, he can include the carci consultants report.. KB, is not interested in any distractions.. Some others are! Imo only.. atb…
I, like most investors in this company, sit on the sidelines on this forum, however I think it about time someone told Suzy Bloody 2 where to get off! She responds to messages from particular contributors with whom she has a dislike. In fact, she did the same to me. Why doesn't she use her filter?
In this particular case KallakRid... is simply saying that KB should be removed as the company 'needs new blood'. I AGREE!
He should be removed to make way for someone more competent who can bring this whole situation to a satisfactory conclusion after such a farcically prolonged period. PS Glad that I didn't take up KB's offer last year. I think it was an absolute waste of time and money. All in my opinion, of course :-) PPS NO NEED TO RESPOND SUZY BLOODY 2!
Hi, been a while since I last wrote. Does this not sound like what we are hearing daily. It's all about control. I like most of you have been here for over ten years, I want it to go off, it's a no brainer. However we are dealing with people that don't want it to happen. Bit like freedom day. Be well all. There's hope yet.
If it's sept 6th to get comments back, it's end of sept before Baylan looks at it, then end oct if he was going to make a decision that will be stopped when they get voted down over the budget. Business as usual in Sweden.
I would understand the 'Budge is rubbish' line if even one other mining company had made progress with the Swedish Government but I'm not aware they have; please correct me if I'm wrong?
That's precisely what you would say KallakRidiculous, if you didn't want a mine in Kallak .
Appears to me as a distraction. Showing he's doing something!
This doesn't wash with me! Beowulf needs new blood!
One thing I wasn't sure about.
where he said that "vi skickar det här ärendet vidare till UNESCO så att vi får deras synpunkter och därefter kan gå till be****. Då är det färdigberett, och då är också min bedömning att det be**** som regeringen fattar håller rättsligt" (Translation: "we are forwarding this matter to UNESCO so that we can receive their views and then take a decision. Then it is ready, and then my assessment is that the decision made by the government is legal").
Kallak is outside of Laponia. Laponia World Heritage status was in place when the exploration permits were issued and Kallak was declared an area of national interest for minerals. The process BEM followed was by the law. I don't know how the Unesco comments could be considered to affect the legality of the Kallak mine, even if UNESCO replied that it will affect the World Heritage Status of Laponia (which it didn't), how do the UNESCO comments affect the law.
When I read this, I don't know if Baylan is using the UNESCO comments to enable him to say yes or no. Our key argument has always been that we followed the legal process, and by law we should be awarded the concession. Maybe it will help that Baylan is now minister for rural affairs and will have to answer to the people of Jokkmokk if the decision is no, as well as the courts.
Xeno, any thoughts from the local perspective please.
Thanks Kurt...very good and thorough update, I'm satisfied with that.
I've read it but it's only lip service again, nothing to get euphoric about yet.. Good luck
Not exactly euphoria..........If we actually get the concession, I wonder how long it will take people to notice
And he seems pretty confident, paying to get the mine study completed.
....and so it came to pass!
So KB how about following up with a "What about Kallak"
I think its time
Problem is you can't appeal until you have something to appeal about
The Copperstone SP indicates that it's probably no big deal, but nevertheless its a new concession that's been granted, after an appeal.
Does it fill anyone with new hope?
Hope is all we've got left.
Thanks Suzy
Hi Tintin yes that is good news. Please share where we can read about that, I would like to see the comparisons just to make myself feel good.
Much appreciated.
