Yep, the same worthless constellation is back again for another year.
Sweden's parliament on Wednesday voted to reinstate Social Democrat party leader Stefan Lofven as prime minister, only weeks after he was ousted in a historic vote of no confidence.
Lofven's nomination was passed with a vote of 116 for, 173 against and 60 abstaining. Under the Swedish system a prime minister only needs to be tolerated by parliament -- meaning they can be confirmed as long as a majority doesn't vote against them.
"Since less than half of the members of parliament have voted no, the chamber has approved the motion to appoint Stefan Lofven as prime minister," speaker Andreas Norlen told parliament after the vote was concluded.
Thanks Suzy. So we have a non-nomadic Swedish Sami population totaling about 20,00o, of which 10% are engaged in reindeer herding, with a devolved parliament and a large chunk of the country protected ostensibly for their use. One wonders if they are punching a little above their weight and how they justify the thousands of companies Zeno referenced? Clearly they have a powerful lobbying influence. Will be interesting to see how things develop in Sweden.
They are not nomadic.
Between the proposed mine site and the nearest village.
The villages on the Kallak Peninsular are Bjorkholmen and Randijaur...I get confused about which is the nearest and it's about 3.5 English miles I think it's Randijaur.
Rickmeister...The Swedish Sami are citizens of Sweden the same as any other Swedes and the reindeer herders live in villages or communes...the tent is symbolic..like the national costume.. Only an estimated 10 per cent are entitled to herd reindeer, on an hereditary principle. The Sami Parliament exists by the grace of the Sovereign State of Sweden and the same laws apply to them as to anyone else who is Swedish or lives in Sweden.
I gather that only about 10% of the Sami population are actively involved in reindeer herding, some 3,000 or less. I assume these are the 'nomadic' Sami, with the majority in fixed locations. Question for Xeno, our resident Swedish expert, are the nomadic Sami nomadic across the 4 northern regions, (Sweden, Finland, Norway and Russia) or do they tend to have a geographical limitation. I wonder if the other Sami countries are as generous with grants etc. It would seem surprising if Russia was. If they are genuinely nomadic how does the state collect taxes as they appear to have no specific country of residence.
not just snowmobiles but also helicopters apparently to help track their animals!
That's a lot of free money Xeno. No wonder those folks can afford snowmobiles. Seems they are well catered for.
Thanks for your input, much appreciated.
EricDraven – much obliged!
Xeno 79 “Business connected to reindeers”. Goody! Where can I get an application form? Thank you for all information..atb…………
No they can vote and pay taxes like everyone else but what they do have is if you have a business connected to raindeers then you get over 30k£ from the state each year. there are over thousands of these companies..

Good night all
Yes Aug. Good post.
3card, lol. Bozzer, no, he's in a class all on his own.
And from what I remember reading, the Sami arent tax payers so they don't vote in Sweden..........Is that correct Suzy, Xeno ?
Evening.. “Many, many more months of waiting for perhaps nothing more to happen.” Perhaps, but that wouldn’t be in the Government’s interest.. Assuming Lofven, the EU, globalist stooge will be ‘appointed’ by the same ilk, he’ll need a minister with innovation to get them out of the mining mess made by Baylan.. The Baylan/UNESCO’s ambiguous nonsense has made the chances of any decision being challenged from somewhere, more likely if the minister doesn’t now kick axse where it is needed imo.. After 8+ years, then any legal challenge made, in the run – up to the election would be nuts.. Whoever becomes minister needs to deliver the Kallak decision pronto, as stated.. This is now well out of shape, any worse, and its more political cost – now unaffordable in the coming months when ‘the people’ consider where to cast their vote.. Lofven, needs a minister who at least knows which way the camera is pointing! lolol ………… Imo only atb…………….
Sounds like Baylan is right up there with Bozzer in your estimation Eric. lol
3CB
He's more like a waxwork that has seen better days, on the list of those to be melted down.
Baylan is like Schroedinger's cat and his excuses are both alive/dead & there/not there at the same time. Put nothing past him ??
Optimistically, perhaps if the same lot gets in again then that could actually be good, because they've already exhausted all avenues for delaying a decision on our application.
Optimistically.
When the PM (candidate) Stefan Lofven announces his new Government on Friday...the decision will be 'forthcoming.' ;-)
Ha ha ha. Well, one thing for sure, whatever happens, nothing will happen for BEM. Many, many more months of waiting for perhaps nothing more to happen.

"The country needs a Government with the ability to act" Stefan Lofven
Lets just hope the vote fails and we get to an election sooner.
nick I'm in my eighties and thinking of changing my name to no hope, ha ha ha
