There’s is a driver shortage, partly don’t to brexit, IR35 and rule changes on foreign workers working in Uk. Working ain’t suffering as much as like DHL and stobart. But heading up towards Xmas, every one will suffer. If was like like wincanton, I’d look purchasing small haulage companies to back itself up. Nichols based down in sittingbourne or eldis based up in the northeast. Just a thought
Does anyone think the 60,000-100,000 uk lorry driver will affect the share price? Obviously could affect revenue, but alternatively Wincanton may have better employee contracts than other companies and thus have an advantage in the industry. I've no idea, thoughts?
Excellent news - a contract extension from Ikea:
" Wincanton awarded contract extension by Ikea
Wincanton, a leading supply chain partner for UK business, has been awarded contract extensions by Ikea to operate its customer distribution centres (CDCs) in Medway, Kent and Harlow, Essex, for five and two years respectively. Wincanton will continue to ensure a great service for Ikea's customers across Greater London and the South-East.
The contract extensions represent continued progress against the Group's strategic focus on its growth markets, particularly in Digital and eFulfilment. They also demonstrate Wincanton's ability to capitalise on the shift in consumer purchasing habits that have accelerated during the course of the pandemic.
James Wroath, Chief Executive Officer of Wincanton, said: "This is another important step in our long-standing relationship with Ikea and more evidence of the positive progress we are making in our Digital and eFulfilment business. We are proud to have supported Ikea in achieving significant volume growth in the past year and these extensions reflect both the success of our partnership and the underlying strength of Wincanton's broad supply chain capabilities."
The SP is now settled within a range. What could be catalyst for this to get a boost? Anyone care to share?
One of my better picks 2020.
511p being targeted here....

"Wincanton plc : The underlying trend is in force again

long trade
Live
Entry price : 441.36GBX | Target : 511GBX | Stop-loss : 410GBX | Potential : 15.78%
The underlying tendency is to the upside for shares in Wincanton plc and the timing is opportune to get back into the stock. A comeback of the upward dynamic can be anticipated.
Investors have an opportunity to buy the stock and target the GBX 511."
My only issue is? XPO came close of being thrown out from the coop on Andover and avonmouth under Norbert back in the day. Now xpo are doing a stobart and undercut everyone which won’t help.
In the transport industry what goes around comes around always have been every company flights for a contract holder then loose it and then they get it get contracts are won by uncutting the price
Do you know why they lost the contract at the coop? I know they had it a long time.
Yesterday was my first day of not work for Wincanton as they lost the contract with the Co-op in Northwest i
am and now and xpo driver very sad day us to finish them after 16 years work . Very good company to work for .
WIN seems to have got itself into a strong position. Satisfying to see yesterday's gain sustained to the end of the week. 5 1/2% in two days is not to be sniffed at.
A very satisfying response to very satisfying results. Long may it continue - lots more to go for.
Liberum have now raised their target price to 510p (from 445p) and say Buy:

expect f/c to move higher given last years eps almost at 2022 f/c. despite rally shares on about 13/14 last years pe yet expected to grow strongly over next couple fo years at least. still cheap.
Very good results - which are ahead of Zeus Capital's expectations in all metrics AFAICS:
- underlying 32p EPS against 31.2p forecast
- 10.35p dividend against 9p forecast
- a whopping £11.9m net cash against just £1.7m forecast
And excellent news that HMRC have dropped their VAT and excise duty claims.
Plus a very strong outlook:
"We have taken this strong momentum into the new financial year and current trading is encouraging."
Can't ask for much more than that. I suspect Zeus and others may be upgrading their numbers somewhat.
Thursday 20 May
Wincanton PLC Full Year Results
Results are out in only 11 days on 20th May - hopefully another run-up prior to that, given the very strong trading update:

An article in Retail Week about the ecommerce and supply logistics boom and Wincanton’s new ecommerce hub:

Buying coming in at 442p now, and more new highs....
Good news - they're now up to 6.831m shares, or 5.48%:

Good to see the upward trend continuing into this week, and that in a lacklustre market.
Even better as a finish to the week (427/429)! This company is doing good things.
Good to see the day finish on a high (420/422).
Stobart has 3 contracts ended with Tesco. I believe Tesco rdc in goole, Doncaster and Widnes and if those 3, DHL taken over the first 2 sites. Only time will tell if wincanton get offered contracts with Tesco.
Bought last Sept at under 200p (196) so v v happy with 100% gain. Thanks for your analysis Rivaldo, as always!
Sold last week to bring into this year's ISA, but now wondering if after such a rise it's wise to wait. But it looks a great company and long term hold, in a great area. Stocko actually has the Value rating as having risen since I bought in spite of the double, though the yield is down somewhat. JPM seem to think it's worth it!
Any thoughts anyone? You're better than JPM!
...... Just looked back along the beautifully concentrated list of posts on this board. Too good to miss. Back in with the whole lot, not taken any profits. Hope it's wise.
Qd - or QED? :)
