Tristel PLC03 January 2007 For Immediate Release 3 January 2007 TRISTEL PLC Grant of Patents Tristel plc ("Tristel"), the AIM listed provider of infection and contaminationcontrol products, announces that it has been granted patents from the UK PatentOffice for the Tristel Wipes Traceability System and the Tristel Dual FoamSterilant. The Tristel Wipes Traceability System is used in the decontamination of heatsensitive medical instruments. The system is a practical and highly effectiveway to decontaminate heat sensitive, non-lumened instruments if endoscopewasher-disinfectors, sinks or water supplies are not available. Importantly, theTristel Wipes Traceability System enables users to conform to the Chief MedicalOfficer's Directive in "Winning Ways" (Working together to reduce HospitalAcquired Infection), December 2003, which states that staff will ensure thatthere is an audit trail for each recycled item. The Tristel Dual Foam Sterilant is used for the high-level disinfection ofsurfaces in high risk areas of hospitals. The Tristel Dual Foam Sterilantdelivers Tristel's proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry directly to surfaces.Chlorine dioxide is highly effective in destroying all types of bacteria(including bacterial spores, tuberculosis and MRSA), fungi and viruses and isone of a small group of sporicidal agents that is safe and easy to use. Tristel's core product range of instrument disinfectants has become the marketleader in the UK Acute & Private Hospital sector. They are used to decontaminateheat sensitive endoscopic and ultrasound instruments in over 375 hospitals,representing some 60 per cent of all UK NHS Acute & Private Hospitals.
