BOARD APPOINTMENT - Emma FitzGerald

Cookson Group plc, the international materials science company, announces that Dr Emma FitzGerald is to join the Board as a non-executive Director with effect from 1 August 2011.

Dr FitzGerald is Vice President, Global Retail Network for Shell International. She joined Shell in 1992, and has held a variety of general management, strategic and technical roles. Dr FitzGerald has extensive experience of the Asia Pacific region and has served on Boards in Korea and China.

From 2007 to 2010 Emma was Vice President, Shell Downstream Strategy and Consultancy. Other positions include Managing Director, Shell China/HongKong Lubricants from 2004 to 2007; General Manager, Shell Industry Lubricants Asia Pacific from 2004 to 2005 and Managing Director, Shell Gas Ltd, UK from 2001 to 2004.

Emma holds a DPhil in Physical Sciences from Oxford University and an MBA from Manchester Business School. Her doctorate specialised in the development of new semiconductor technologies.

She is a Trustee of Windsor Leadership Trust.

There are no further disclosures required in respect of Dr FitzGerald under paragraph 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules.
