Notice of investor conference call
Vietnam Infrastructure Limited ("VNI" or the "Company"), the first publicly traded fund to focus on infrastructure assets in Vietnam, announces that its Investment Manager, VinaCapital Group, will hold a conference call to update investors on VNI and its other AIM listed funds on 18 June 2012 at 17:00 Hong Kong time.
VinaCapital CEO Don Lam, Fund Managing Directors Andy Ho and Tony Hsun and Fund Deputy Managing Director David Blackhall will update investors on the current economic and investment climate in Vietnam, as well as the recent performance of the three VinaCapital managed AIM listed funds: VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund (VOF), VinaLand Limited (VNL) and Vietnam Infrastructure Fund (VNI). A Q&A session will follow the fund updates.
During the first quarter of 2012, Vietnam has seen GDP growth slip to 4.0 percent, its lowest level in over two years. According to Vietnam's General Statistics Office (GSO), inventory levels of unsold goods, specifically within the consumer goods and industrial manufacturing sectors, increased 29 percent in May from a year ago. As a result, Vietnam's PMI index fell to 48.3 percent in May, the lowest level in three months.
However, year-to-date CPI levels have receded to just 2.8 percent, representing an annual inflation rate of 8.3 percent from last year. Despite the removal of subsidies in fuel and electricity, food price increases have moderated substantially all year, significantly easing the economic pressures of high inflation from the last two years. As a result, capital markets have responded well, with the VN Index up approximately 23 percent over the first five months of the year, all while valuations continue to be attractive, with the index trading at a trailing PE of 9.8x.
