UNITED UTILITIES GROUP PLC 29 August 2014 United Utilities appoints Non-Executive Director United Utilities Group PLC announces the appointment of Stephen A. Carter CBE(Lord Carter) as a non-executive director with effect from 1 September 2014. Onappointment Stephen will become a member of the Audit, Nomination and CorporateResponsibility Committees. Stephen is the Group Chief Executive at Informa plc, having previously servedon the board as an independent non-executive director and member of the AuditCommittee. Before taking up his current post, he was President/Managing Director, Europe,Middle East & Africa and a member of the Executive Management Board at AlcatelLucent Inc. Prior to that he held a number of Private and Public Sector roles,serving a term as the founding Chief Executive of Ofcom (The Telecommunicationsand Media Regulator). United Utilities' Chairman, Dr John McAdam said: "As a current Chief Executiveof a FTSE 250 company and with his background in government and regulation,Stephen's appointment will strengthen the Board's expertise; we are delightedto welcome him to the Board as a non-executive director." Stephen will also be appointed as a non-executive director of United UtilitiesWater PLC with effect from 1 September 2014. There are no further details to disclose under paragraph 9.6.13 (2) to (6) ofthe Listing Rules in relation to Stephen A. Carter. In accordance with Listing Rule 9.6.11(3), with effect from 1 September 2014,Mark Clare, senior independent director, will become a member of theRemuneration Committee and will step down from the Audit Committee.
