Year end trading update
Sarantel (AIM: SLG), the leading manufacturer of revolutionary filtering antennasΒ for mobile and wireless devices, announcesΒ a year end trading update for the 12 months to 30 September 2008.
RevenuesΒ for the yearΒ are expected to beΒ approximatelyΒ Β£1.9 million,Β which isΒ ahead ofΒ market expectations.Β In the second half of the financial year, demand from smaller niche GPS customers remained resilientΒ largely offsettingΒ a slowdown in orders from larger GPS customers.Β During September,Β SarantelΒ madeΒ the first shipments of satellite telephone antennasΒ as part ofΒ the order announced on 30 June 2008, from a globalΒ satelliteΒ phone services provider.Β
The Group has started to gain traction for itsΒ thirdΒ generation GPS antenna and isΒ alsoΒ in advanced discussions to develop multiple antennas for a number of customers in the satellite phones and military sectors.Β The Board remains confidentΒ aboutΒ the Group'sΒ growth prospectsΒ as theΒ order backlogΒ at the end of September 2008Β is providingΒ good visibility forΒ the first half of 2009.
At 30 September 2008, the Group had cash balances of Β£3Β million. Having completedΒ two placingsΒ inΒ March andΒ April 2008Β of Β£3.4 million, in aggregate,Β theΒ BoardΒ believes thatΒ the GroupΒ hasΒ sufficientΒ cash resources to support the businessΒ for the foreseeable future.Β
On 9 October 2008, the Company will be hosting a visit by institutional investors to its headquarters in Wellingborough. No new material information will be disclosed during this visit.
Sarantel expects to publish its preliminary result for the year to 30Β September 2008 in early December.
