LONDON: 24 November 2008 - Trans-Siberian Gold plc ("TSG" or "the Company") (TSG.L) regrets to report the death of Dr Boris Fedorov, a non-executive director of the Company since 31 March 2006.
Alexander Doumnov, TSG Chairman, said:
"The Board and Management of TSG are deeply saddened by the loss of Boris Fedorov, a prominent Russian reformer, economist and businessman.
As Russia's Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister in the early 1990's, Dr Fedorov played a key role in the country's transition from a central planning system to a market economy. He possessed a profound knowledge of international finance and gained unique practical experience in this field with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and as Executive Director for Russia at the World Bank.
He founded the United Financial Group, one of the most reputable investment firms in Russia, and also served as a long-standing independent director of Gazprom and Sberbank. We were privileged to have him on the TSG Board and appreciated his commitment and contribution to the Company's development.
We deeply grieve for the loss of Boris Fedorov and express our sincere condolences to his family and friends."
