BrainJuicer's reputationΒ for innovationΒ grewΒ furtherΒ in 2009Β with revenue from the Group's strategically important 'Juicy' productsΒ making significant gainsΒ and now accounting for over 60% ofΒ the Group'sΒ revenue (2008: 46%).Β These products are being sold to some of the world's largest buyers of market research. In 2009Β the Company'sΒ clients included 11 of the world's top 20 buyers of market research, up from 9 in 2008, and revenue from these clients grew byΒ over 70%. Client satisfaction remains high with repeat business at around 80%.
RevenueΒ increaseΒ wasΒ driven by continued strong progress in theΒ US,Β growing at aroundΒ 60%,Β and byΒ veryΒ encouraging contributions fromΒ the new offices inΒ SwitzerlandΒ andΒ Germany. The Company'sΒ UKΒ business recovered after a slow start toΒ theΒ yearΒ (revenue for the full year wasΒ aroundΒ 2%Β lower), andΒ Dutch revenue grewΒ aboutΒ 10%. Overall the Group achievedΒ approximatelyΒ 26% revenue growthΒ (21% on aΒ constantΒ currency basis).
Operating profitΒ isΒ upΒ by more thanΒ 25%Β whilst having at the sameΒ timeΒ invested more than ever before inΒ developing and validatingΒ products,Β inΒ back-office operations andΒ inΒ the Company'sΒ softwareΒ platform. We believeΒ this investmentΒ will drive future growth.
The GroupΒ has reached an agreement to acquire High Level Research Inc., its Canadian licencee, for a nominal sum.Β Β This will be managed as a regional office within our North American business.
John Kearon,Β CEOΒ of BrainJuicer, commented: "To have grown so strongly in a year whenΒ spending onΒ market researchΒ seems to haveΒ declined for the first time in 25 years is a tremendous achievement and testament to the attraction of our innovative 'Juicy' products, expanded geographic footprint and talented researchers to our major multinational client base. Despite the dire economic conditions, we have continued to make significant investments.Β Β WhilstΒ manyΒ of the largest research agenciesΒ have apparentlyΒ declined and retrenched during 2009, we continued to invest heavily inΒ new and existing 'Juicy' products, enhancingΒ the efficiency and scalability ofΒ our technology platformΒ andΒ expanding our geographic footprint. These investmentsΒ will, we believe, enable us to secure the global and regional mandates which we need to fulfil our longer term ambitions.
"The Board isΒ confident that in 2010 we can continue to grow our businessΒ throughΒ furtherΒ productΒ innovationΒ andΒ increasing our market share withΒ major multinationalΒ customers."
An analyst presentation, given by John Kearon,Β CEO, and James Geddes, CFO, will be held at 9.30am onΒ 9Β March 2010 at Abchurch's office, 16thΒ Floor,Β 125 Old Broad Street,Β London,Β EC2N 1AR.
