BrainJuicer's reputationĀ for innovationĀ grewĀ furtherĀ in 2009Ā with revenue from the Group's strategically important 'Juicy' productsĀ making significant gainsĀ and now accounting for over 60% ofĀ the Group'sĀ revenue (2008: 46%).Ā These products are being sold to some of the world's largest buyers of market research. In 2009Ā the Company'sĀ clients included 11 of the world's top 20 buyers of market research, up from 9 in 2008, and revenue from these clients grew byĀ over 70%. Client satisfaction remains high with repeat business at around 80%.
RevenueĀ increaseĀ wasĀ driven by continued strong progress in theĀ US,Ā growing at aroundĀ 60%,Ā and byĀ veryĀ encouraging contributions fromĀ the new offices inĀ SwitzerlandĀ andĀ Germany. The Company'sĀ UKĀ business recovered after a slow start toĀ theĀ yearĀ (revenue for the full year wasĀ aroundĀ 2%Ā lower), andĀ Dutch revenue grewĀ aboutĀ 10%. Overall the Group achievedĀ approximatelyĀ 26% revenue growthĀ (21% on aĀ constantĀ currency basis).
Operating profitĀ isĀ upĀ by more thanĀ 25%Ā whilst having at the sameĀ timeĀ invested more than ever before inĀ developing and validatingĀ products,Ā inĀ back-office operations andĀ inĀ the Company'sĀ softwareĀ platform. We believeĀ this investmentĀ will drive future growth.
The GroupĀ has reached an agreement to acquire High Level Research Inc., its Canadian licencee, for a nominal sum.Ā Ā This will be managed as a regional office within our North American business.
John Kearon,Ā CEOĀ of BrainJuicer, commented: "To have grown so strongly in a year whenĀ spending onĀ market researchĀ seems to haveĀ declined for the first time in 25 years is a tremendous achievement and testament to the attraction of our innovative 'Juicy' products, expanded geographic footprint and talented researchers to our major multinational client base. Despite the dire economic conditions, we have continued to make significant investments.Ā Ā WhilstĀ manyĀ of the largest research agenciesĀ have apparentlyĀ declined and retrenched during 2009, we continued to invest heavily inĀ new and existing 'Juicy' products, enhancingĀ the efficiency and scalability ofĀ our technology platformĀ andĀ expanding our geographic footprint. These investmentsĀ will, we believe, enable us to secure the global and regional mandates which we need to fulfil our longer term ambitions.
"The Board isĀ confident that in 2010 we can continue to grow our businessĀ throughĀ furtherĀ productĀ innovationĀ andĀ increasing our market share withĀ major multinationalĀ customers."
An analyst presentation, given by John Kearon,Ā CEO, and James Geddes, CFO, will be held at 9.30am onĀ 9Ā March 2010 at Abchurch's office, 16thĀ Floor,Ā 125 Old Broad Street,Ā London,Ā EC2N 1AR.
