Appointment of Sir David Higgins
The Directors of Sirius Minerals Plc (AIM: SXX, OTCQX: SRUXY), the globally diversified potash development group, announce the appointment of Sir David Higgins as a Non-Executive Director of the Company and that Derek Stonley will be stepping down as Non-Executive Director. Both changes to the Board will take place with immediate effect.
Derek Stonley has decided to step down from the Board of Sirius having served as a Non-Executive Director from 2004 since the Company was established. During Derek's tenure on the Board of Sirius, the Company has established a portfolio of projects in North America, Australia and the United Kingdom. The Company would like to record its appreciation to Derek for his years of service and leadership.
Sir David Hartmann Higgins, 58, is currently the Chief Executive of Network Rail, the Authority responsible for the United Kingdom's rail network with an asset value of £40bn. Previously David was the Chief Executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority ("ODA") from March 2006 until January 2011 responsible for Venues, Infrastructure and Spectator Transport for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralymic Games with a budget of £8bn. Prior to this, he was Chief Executive of English Partnerships, the Government's National Regeneration Agency for three years.
Earlier in his career, David was the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Lend Lease Group, a global property and infrastructure company. David graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Sydney and also holds a Diploma from the Securities Institute of Australia. David was knighted in 2011.
